With news of the "accelerated compliance buyout" that MTL have at their disposal:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=413602

According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, in order for a player to be bought out this week, he still must clear waivers first. He says to assume that Redden and Gomez will be put on waivers on Wednesday.

Should they exercise it, and Gomez clears waivers - if the Buds have a shot at him, would he be worth a look as our #1 center?

We all know he had his issues in MTL, but if a change of scenery is all he needs to be that mighty mouse force he used to be in NJ, then just maybe?

Bring back the Gomez magic.

EDIT: I voted no btw

If he'll sign for under 1 million for 1 year, then yes - absolutely... cant lose. Gomez might be able to turn it around with a change of scenery.

If you are one of those fools who wants to tank to build, you may not be for this.. my philosophy is lets become a respectable team, start winning some games, and make Toronto desirable again. This is why I'm for a Lu trade, and this one as well. I want the best team we can get now, not later... especially in this case where it doesnt cost anything.

Scott Gomez is living the dream right now. His boss essentially told him you don't have to come to work anymore, but we'll still pay you.

The question should really be, why would Scott Gomez screw that up and sign with Toronto?

This threads just not right....such words should never be spoken again

When a player has his own website called "did gomez score" and it was 365 days and counting making what he did.....barf
