Just finished up the Golf trip to Portugal and it ended up going pretty well which was not expected.

First round I was a bit hit and miss and unfortunately had some pretty rough holes especially on the back nine as the round ground along (5 1/2 hours) and I think I had 3 x 7’s and an 8. Finished up at a 98 so sub 100 which was a baby victory based on my last few trips but I kind of golfed to my handicap.

Day 2 I had a really strong day and was MVP of my money winning foursome as far as scoring points (stabelford). I was playing with the biggest friendly chipper and he was really complimentary of my game. It was nice because the bain of my exesitance has been driving accuracy and that wasn’t an issue on day 2.

Day 3, I picked up where I left off on day 2 and had a really strong game scoring wise. Lots of really nice shots on tough holes. I am pretty sure I was in the 80’s on both day 2 and 3. The courses were really nice on the first 3 days.

Day 4 the course sucked and our group tapped out after 11 holes and headed back to the hotel pool. I pretty flat and I think the back to back 5 1/2 hours rounds took there tole.

Have to admit it was really rewarding to turn the franchise around after my last 3 trips to Europe. Lots of compliments from the boys on my new golftec swing, and on playing well. I guess it makes a difference to actually golf in a season if you are going to go on a golf trip.

My game has got quite a ways to go still but…… today we dance. The Trip helped me work through my yips off tee.

Thanks to @John Agar for recommending Southwood practice facility, and Golftec.

Sounds like you put your mind in the right space...

I love the fact your trip worked out so well... that's what they are for... to take a break and work on the things we don't normally do...

Thanks ps' ... I appreciate your thanks to Me... I love helping peeps... it's My thing...

My summer with golf has been great and humbling... and mostly good overall... top 5 in points in My Men's League... something I couldn't even have imagined 2 years ago...

And no pain... My body feels great...

Thanks again for your thanks...

It's been a pretty miserable year of golf for me. Too busy with travel - business and pleasure. Only used one pass at Southwood this year. smh. Big plans for October golf, I guess!

I have seen some nice courses though - Banff, Eagle Ranch, Springs at Radium, Pennard Golf Club (Wales), Pinawa, Montebello, Victory at Verrado, Sterling Grove. Just not frequent enough to get into any sort of groove with the swing. Scoring was typically 92-93, just meh. Maybe a couple of 9's in there as well. Should have abandoned the cottage this year and played more. Nothing but work out there this year.

So my thanks back to @ps241 struck a nerve... ?

Good...

You are thinking the right way now...

Is my team allowed to use John’s ball for every single shot?
I'm not that good...

St.Charles would be #1 , Niakiwa has nice facilities but i don't think the actual course is a whole bunch better than St.B . Southwood is ok but i would put Elmhurst and Pine Ridge ahead of them. Playing the Ridge today so I'll let you know. :thumbu:

St. Charles is definitely the most prestigious. The practice facilities are the best in the city and the course is always immaculately maintained. The layout of the course is kinda meh for me.

I would put Niakwa at 2nd, the patio and restaurant is gorgeous. Practice facilities are not even comparable to St. C though. I like the course just as much as St. C though.

After that, Pine Ridge and Elmhurst are both beautiful golf courses. Maybe the best actual courses. Facilities are solid but not on the same level as St. C.

Southwood is a very different course to anything you are going to find in the city, facilities are nice and practice facilities are probably 2nd best after St. C.

Pine Ridge was very nice, i would be a member there for sure. Greens are massive , quick and very hard to read.

Got one last round in yesterday. Windy for most of the day but the temperature drop over the last five holes was pretty chilling. Gusts got up to about 60KPH but when the temperature dropped from 20 to 12 in under an hour that was something. We weren't dressed for it, that's for sure.

Not so many rounds this year but considering I wasn't able to get out in May or June (rained out four Tuesdays in a row) it wasn't a bad year. See you in spring.
