It ends last year. Because they too went back-to-back the two previous years before that.
You're missing the point. As we move into the future they are trending downward. While here in the USA, we're trending upward. We host it next year. Maybe we can make it 3 for 3. With Canada losing the quarter finals this year on home soil, that has to be tough. Oh well, onward and upward for Team USA. Very likely a rematch of tonight's magnificent game.

That's happened to literally ever other country but nobody talks about how they "suck" at hockey when it happens like they do with Canada.

Because it's your guys' sport. It's literally your thing. You're supposed to be the best, so it's big news when you don't win. It's said every year, it's gold or bust for Canada. No other country expects their teams to win every year. Canada does. Canada. Hockey. Hockey. Canada. Know what I mean? Lol

It also doesn't help that when Canada does lose the excuses just poor out from your fans so you guys get ripped on. For years and years all I've seen and heard is "our talent is so deep we can send our B and C teams and still win gold!" Then when you lose it turns into "we didn't take our best players!!!" So which is it? Hahaha

Yes it is tough, but it's pretty annoying when people here who are spending more time shitting on Canada than celebrating their victory are saying that Hockey Canada is dead.

Canada failed to medal in consecutive years way back in the early 80's as well as 2013 & 2014 and they still turned out OK from that.

I'm not even talking shit about the USA. Of course they deserve this victory. I'm just talking to the idiotic hypocrites who think/want to believe that Hockey Canada is dead and will never recover from this. It's simply not true regardless of how much they want it to be. I'm not saying we are going to win next year but I'd be shocked if we get relegated as well.

No one believes Hockey is dead in Canada. Least of all myself. You guys have a hockey history to be VERY proud of. I was just giving you the business there for a bit. :thumbu:

I concur about the excuses. They embarrass the hell out of me. No, we absolutely CANNOT win with out B team. Or I guess even our Eh team this year (see what I did there).

Yes we are expected to win every year. Just like countries like Brazil and Germany in the world cup. But do they "suck at soccer" if they don't?

Of the 6 World Baseball Classics, the USA has won it once. "The USA sucks at Baseball". Sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it?

I'm ok if we suck at baseball, not a huge fan anymore. I'd rather we dominate Hockey.

I don't think Canada sucks at hockey. It's very obvious that they don't. But I do think their days of dominating years in and year out is going to be a thing of the past. Unless there's a serious change with Hockey Canada. Because the rest of the world is only getting better. I have a friend who has been involved in hockey since the 80s and he remembers when the US boys were scared of Canada and had no chance of beating them. Times have changed.

Been saying for far too long on hfboards Carle is on the fast track to becoming the next young coach in the NHL
I see him live more than anybody at pioneer games

Two national championships in the NCAA in 3 years
146-60 as a coach in the NCAA
Now back to back world juniors gold as the head coach

That resume at 34 years old

Yeah, I forgot to make that point. I follow the MLB but couldn't care less about our national baseball team. That goes for every other sport. I only care about hockey.
We have the pirates, yes, pretty sad. With an owner who doesn't care about winning. I'm done with it. Whatever sport, you gotta have an owner and a brain trust that at least attempts to compete.

Canada's days of dominating have been over for quite a while, really. It's more about the gap closing moreso than ever if anything. It's not even really about winning gold every year anymore. If the last two years were bronze medal wins and not 5-6th place finishes I think we'd be fairly content. Keeping our heads above water, so to speak. It will be interesting to see what happens down the road with HC for sure.

The USA isn't wildly better at baseball and fans know it's a fairly level playing field in best-on-best, they're just the home of the MLB. You'd be better suited using USA Basketball as a comparison except they tend to show up.

If you can't see that this "unfair" victory lap session is coming on the heels of decades of dominance, well... imagine how you'd behave if the Canadian Olympic Basketball team started stealing games from the USA and winning medals.
