You have to beat the best teams to win. Canada did that. The two best teams in the tournament played off today. The only good team Canada didn't beat was Sweden, who they didn't play. And I'd have gladly taken them over the Russians for gold.
Agreed on everything you say.. you do know I was referring to the Finn crossover, right?

It seems like no team had a lot of skill this year, I didn't really enjoy semifinal with Sweden, and this game was just f***ing boring. Not even upset because of the loss, two rather mediocre teams

Like some other people are saying, the Russians were flopping all over the place trying to embellish stuff as well. You try whatever you can to win and Canada won today. Great game nonetheless.

I would feel bad for Russia if they hadn't been cheating in international sports and laughing about it for years and years. When's the next time they are allowed to compete in the olympics again?

Gotta ask.. did anyone get a penalty on whatever Miftakhov was doing?
Outside of the unsportsmanlike conduct there was no infraction.

There's no arguing that Zamula punched Hayton in the face and Voronkov cross-checked Dellandrea.

Both penalties.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lafreniere is the only one that becomes an NHL player.

During Mistakhov's diving display.. are you saying a Canadian got a penalty for that? Or a Russian? Or no one?

How embarrassingly biased do you have to be to not see that this is an embellishment? The Russian shoved him where the black line is, i.e in the chest. Ty Dellandrea proceeds to throw his head back and touch his face. A complete embarrassment of an hockey player.

The fact you think you can freeze frame this and act like it has any relvance means we should all just move on.

Beyond that, the call was crosschecking. He did in fact push his stick into the face of the Canadian. That is an object fact, and is specifically against the rules. People who take a stick to the mouth do often have the reaction of pulling their head back.

Dived isn’t a word. I’ll assume you meant dove. And it’s not a fact he dove, you simply watched the play and formed an opinion. As your opinion is biased, it should be disregarded.

Look up the definition of fact while you’re at it.
Attacking spelling, grammar, and diction is a weak argument. If you decide to go that route, best be sure you know what you're talking about. Dived is, in fact, the correct past tense of dive, with dove being a relatively recent, albeit irregular alternate.

The Russian hockey program didn't do anything. Lay off.

No one. So the right calls were made in all these cases. The debatable calls are the Hayton holding the stick and the puck over the glass non-call (though the rules may just be bad here), as I see it. I could complain about the chintziness of some of the others (both ways) but that's how the IIHF does it.

The weird flying stick penalties could be complained about by either team, but they were called the same for both, so whatever.

I don't like the officiating in IIHF but anyone calling it biased is ridiculous. I said this in the early game when the calls were mostly against Canada.

Why are people freaking out about Miftakhov? A teammate fell on him and he lost his mask. It happens.

For all the talk about diving, there was actually very little of it in this game. Some guys were just - as hard as it may be for some to believe - falling occasionally because that happens in hockey, which is a physical game.

Dived is the traditional past tense and past participle of the verb dive.

The world doesn't revolve around North America.
Obvious is Miftakhov. It's been a while since I've seen anything that blatant in a hockey game. Why aren't you talking about that?
Because it didn't lead to a penalty that in turn lead to a goal
For someone who says they dont care, you sure seem invested in this.
Right should be right, and it's disgusting how biased many of you Canadians are. You endorse cheating when it makes you win. It's disgusting.

Players shoving other players with their stick in the chest and back happens 100 times every game.
People who take a stick to the mouth do often have the reaction of pulling their head back
If they embellish they have that reaction.

tough to blame bragin when the second canadian goal was a pure luck and the third was the result of another stupid penalty, the fourth goal is the goalie's fault. i am not bragin's fan but he can't be blamed for losing here.

I agree that Bragin shouldn't be faulted for Miftakov's play. He was the only option available. I think that the tying and winning goals were Miftakov's fault, although Romanov failed to help him on the tie goal by taking away the shooting angle. But he alone should not be blamed.

With Bragin, I am thinking more about the level of stagnation that seems to exist when the team fails to accomplish attainable goals. Russia, from my view, dominated play right up until the goal to give them a 3-1 lead. I don't see any justification for finding a way to lose that game. The same thing is true of last year's team in Canada, who should have been in the Gold Medal game. To solidify and build on gains, kids this young need reliable coaching, and yet we found a way to squander that lead. Yes, the guys took stupid penalties, but establishing discipline is one of the jobs of the coaching staff. He rolled his eyes when they did stupid things, but it is his job to teach them to avoid self-destruction. Its just my opinion, but I like what I have seen of Filatov, and the time is right to make a change.
