See this is were the problem is. As per the rules its not delay of game. Parts of the camera is above the ice. Yes it hits a part that is behind nut now this turns in a subjective call. The rule states if it hits the camera its not a penalty since part of the camera is above the ice. It should be a penalty but how the rules are written its not.

I'm not sure either, personally I think that delay of game penalty is cheap and should be abolished.

It’s a tough one.

Players used to routinely throw it over the glass to get a face off under pressure.

If you leave it up to referee discretion, now they have to be mind-readers.

We lost the World Championships Gold Medal final on a PP from a delay of game back in 2008 to Russia in OT. So shit happens sometimes.

IIHF has some 'xplaining to do. That non call on what should've been a delay of game at a critical time affected what should've been a great game. The bad call on Hayton earlier can be explained away by something being missed, but to not have proper ground rules followed is ridiculous.

Not going to get on the RUS kids too much for the stick infraction(s)at the end, but they were unfortunate, and unnecessary. Pressure (and frustration), causes strange actions.

Yep. But carry on with your biased ranting.
Nah. It was a clear dive. A complete flop. Disgraceful behaviour and I hope I'll never see him in the NHL.
I’ll continue enjoying this victory.
Enjoy it how much you want. I don't care whether Canada or Russia won. But it should've been a delay of game on Canada and a couple of calls on both sides should never have been called.

Always a downside. Just saw an end of game replay with a Russian kid totally devastated on the bench after the game. I have been involved in a championship game, not at this level, that my team lost. You're totally exhausted mentally and physically, just sheer emotion. No shame you've given your all. I can relate it's tough to see that.

One of the most impressive Russian teams I’ve seen.

They threw themselves in front of pucks, hit like trucks, battled around the net.

1. as salty as the dead sea
2. you very clearly do

Russia did it to the Swedes in the Semifinals so my gratitude for this Team Canada!

Eriksson om ryska firandet: ”Det gör en förbannad”

Russian 2-1 Alexander Khovanov celebrated his goal wildly by repeatedly kissing the Federal emblem on the sweater, while enthusiastically sliding right in front of and past the Swedish booth.

Hopefully it wasn't the 2nd period at least. Would be really bad otherwise.

They were pretty bad celebrating late goals in the 6-0 win (Denisenko in particular). Then he's the one pointing fingers at Hayton for disrespecting his anthem. Kinda asked for it if you ask me.

Hayton shouldn't have taken the bait, of course, but to see him as the villain there is being blind to what took place, including a cheap shot on Smith in the last couple of minutes, 200 feet from their net and away from the play.

In the end it worked out. They couldn't possibly have had more motivation going into the game today.

Carma is a bitch they saying! and yeah pretty funny to disrespect the team you facing and then crying about them doing the same to you give me a break!

For those who were around on these boards during the doom and gloom of Canada's drought at this tournament spanning 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014.. it appears Canada is starting to heat up again at this tournament ever since those 5 straight golds from 2005-2009.

2015, 2018, 2020 gold now, its nice to see.

I miss TSN for hockey, they do it much better than Rogers

It's a testament to TSN that the only gripe people had about their coverage was the overuse of that Roots song. Meanwhile there's a long list when it comes to Rogers. I still think they bit off more than they could chew with that contract and as a result viewers get some decent to subpar broadcast quality.

Back inside from shoveling during the snowstorm. The guy across the street and I agreed that the reffing was terrible, especially the camera decision. Still pleased though. Better than when those things go the other way.

Canada does other things better like....play hockey? Canada’s game was interrupted by a ludicrous amount of chintzy penalties. At ES, they were as good if not better than Russia. A gold medal= better team
They are masters of getting under the opposing teams skin and into their heads. They also know when and how to bend the rules and tip a game into their favour like no other. That wold have been a 5 on 3 in the dying minutes of the game had it not been for team Canada convincing the refs somehow that it was not an automatic 2 min delay of game penalty. The call for a 2 min penalty had already been made when it was overturned. The non call clearly effected team russia. They lost all composure and focus and took two mindblowingly stupid penalties after that.
