It's not case closed at all. The rules say an object above the ice surface. Not the part of the object above the ice surface. It's made that way for a reason. The refs aren't going to come out with a ruler and measuring tape after watching the replay to determine if that part is above the ice.
Yes, it's made that way for a reason. And the reason is because there has to be a limit on what things above the ice surface that are hittable objects without a penalty, jumbotron, rafters and loudspeakers for example.

The opposite of classic, really.

The turned skate, the non-call...
Grow up, it was one of the best gold medal games in a while. The refs sucked, but they were equally bad for both teams. Mental toughness was the only difference. Tjose dumb penalties (punch in the face after the period and playjng with a broken stick) were the just 2 prime examples.

I hope the IIHF explains the non call. I know that the NY based NHL sure to hell doesn't think they have to explain bad calls in their league games.

Better team played the full 60 minutes. Bad calls happen, gotta get over it. Canada took a bunch of penalties early and did not self implode. Rt probably had an alternative ending ready anyways. It was a great game played by kids and now fought over by internet warriors. Lets remember the skill, passion and sheer will to win. Both teams were excellent.
