The atmosphere was insane, what a game. wouldn't have slept tonight if we had lost because of the Russian player taunting the Canadian bench.

I do agree with this

I did see that, it was great save, but that was like... their only grade A scoring chance all period.

and for the record, I am not Russian nor Canadian, and did not care who actually won this game. I do think Canada owned the 1st half, Russia played a much better 2nd half

But how was it pathetic hockey? Canada played great defensively and had a few good offensive chances themselves. And I agree with you, they almost **** the bed with a 4 goal lead blown but they held on and persevered through what I can only imagine were incredible nerves after seeing that unfold in front of them.

From 5-1 to 5-4.

They just had to make it insanely dramatic and stressful huh?

But that's Canada VS Russia personified, for some reason when our two teams match up.....the game becomes legendary...we bring out the best(and worst) in each other.

Love Russian hockey, and love the Russians. Plus you can only "hate" what you love:D

My tournament team=

Godla
Nurse
Galisov(spl)
Reway
Reinhart
McDavid

Theadore is going to be one hell of a smooth skating d-man. Poetry in motion at times.

PS: Order is now restored in the universe:D

Nurse won team Canada this game in the third. Best defenseman in the tourney IMO.

Favourite moment from the celebrations is seeing the families of the players with arms around each other's shoulders singing O Canada.

Everyone who needed to do something special did so tonight.

On the first thread, someone talked about how certain players are not big game players.

I felt all the names on Team Canada stepped up. Nurse was a beast when he had to be. Domi, Reinhardt, McD with a HUGE momentum goal, Duclair, even the third line (who played a few too many minutes for my liking) shut the Russians down when they had to.

We bent, but didn't break for once.

Nice job boys. Thanks for another great moment and game I will always remember fondly.

And thanks Russia. Aside from the taunt, I thought you played a really classy, gutsy game. One kid made a mistake - I can see past that. This was a hard-working, well-coached team.

Looking back at this game in a few years, a Canadian team that featured McDavid and a ton of tournament leading scorers (Petan, Domi, Reinhart) better have beaten a Russian team without any superstars (Tarasenko/Kuznetsov, Yakupov/Nichushkin, etc).

I still think Team Canada didn't look great and goaltending was weak as always. But gold is gold.

So it's our fault Russia didn't have any superstars in this tourny ?

many teams have defeated a fully loaded Canada Roster, including Russia knocking off Canada for Bronze consecutive times.

To anyone saying Canada wasn't great,

"Canada never trailed during this tournament."

Says it all. Russia was awesome but the best team won.

I'll match your missing Russian stars with a missing Ekblad, Horvat, Droin, McKinnon

I think he was trying to say that this Canada team was stacked and had future superstars. The Russian team on paper did not have any true "Stand out" players going into the tournament. That is why he mentioned Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Nichushkin, Yakupov who were mentioned a lot going into previous WJC.

This team had better depth than some of the recent teams though. Not to say Buchnevich, Barbashev, Goldobin, etc don't have potential but they were not discussed too much going into the tournament.

Canada really did look gassed out there tonight. Not nearly the smooth team they were all tournament.

And Canada has never knocked off a fully loaded team Russia or team anyone else for that matter???? Please. Get a grip on reality.

One of my favorite moments was him battling that HUGE russian power forward who had 15 pounds on him.

:handclap::handclap::handclap:

Theodore wasn't on for an even strength goal against all tournament...

Bowey, however, seemed to be on for each one.
