Huh? I'm pretty sure both teams are taking the Final serioisly.

But Finland isn't USA. Russia probably thinks they will win even with no full effort like in Round Robin. Of cource if they are behing when third period starts, they will play that last period seriously.

Is this a joke?

Well it happened against Denmark tho.

Many times we have seen that when Russia plays loose, Finland gets the grip of the game and Russian players start to lose their temper. I think playing physical cleanly will get Finland some powerplays tonight when someone loses their temper and gets their revenge.

Defence, Goaltending, Discipline. Keys for the game. If Finland plays defensively like against Sweden and and get couple of points from the Kids line, the win is very close.

I'm hoping for a hot rivalry. Russia has overall been a pretty discipline team here and Provorov has been amazing, tonight hopefully it's his off-night.

As a TPS fan I'm glad our team will see atleast one champion out of this. Either Keskitalo (and Rantanen though he no longer plays for us) or Georgijev.

Hope our 1st line steps up again, the swedes shut them down pretty good. And that 3rd line must keep up the good pace they had in last game.

Victory is coming theres no stopping this Finland group. Love Russia thou they always very unpredictable but they cant match Finns.

Finns have improved all tournament and coming back against Canada (2 goal deficit) and Sweden (one goal deficit) is a big factor why they are coming strong tonight. Add the lose against Russia earlier and you get an angry lion at yourself.

At the work boss asked me who will win: the bear or the lion? I didn't see any reason why Russia would win this game.

I want Finland to win and their 17 year olds to play a key role in it just so it can finally end the myth that this tournament is the exclusive domain of 19 year old players.

If I had a dollar every time Bob McKenzie or some other schmuck at TSN repeated that over the years I'd already be kicking back and enjoying retirement on my own little Caribbean island.

17 years old dominate this tournament extremely rare , it's not a secret

It would be hilarious if Finland won and top-4 in scoring ended up as Puljujarvi, Laine, Matthews and Juolevi. This is no longer a 19-year olds tournament, apart from the rare lockout years. They are all in the top talent in the NHL already.

Reminders: Do not ask for or post illegal streams. Keep discussion on topic...this is a GDT for Finland vs Russia, so no more Sweden/Finland or Canada/Russia bickering. Talk about the game and not each other.

Congrats on the 10k post. :handclap:

On topic, gonna be tough one, hope our defense can play like they did yesterday.

with more and more 18/19 year old players sticking in the NHL and NHL teams not releasing players, the younger more skilled players will get the opportunity...and that imo is the direction this tournament is going...or at least it should. and that's what I'm hoping for. I'd rather watch those 4 players you named than some 19 year old 3rd round pick who is destined for the AHL next year.

So, Go Finland.

The more I wait the more I fear Russia. I want our team to win so bad. I've never been this nervous when it comes to mens WC.

Neither team was a favourite to be in the final. My impression of the Russian team is that they have exceeded all the expectations by making it this far. That's a good situation to be in for the Russians. Not as much pressure to win it like there was at times in the past during the Canada-Russia rivalry. Russia might look a little flat at times but just give them a PP and watch them score 15 seconds after the faceoff. That's why I have a bit of a bad feeling about this.

I have faith in our system though. It will come down to the little things like staying out of the penatly box and not making those giveaways that were so common before the Sweden game.

I wonder how many players on these two teams played in the (U15 - Hockey) 2012 Youth Winter Olympics that team Finland won Gold over Russia (in a shootout I think?)

4 players from this Finland team won the youth olympics. Kasperi Kapanen, Kaapo Kähkönen, Joni Tuulola and Eetu Sopanen. Kasperi Kapanen in particular was the biggest stars of that tournament. Dont know Russia but they had Svechnikov atleast, USA in that tournament had Eichel, Schmaltz and co too.
