It's amazing that an undefeated team with longest medal record is a heavy underdog in every medal round game

That's true and it's stupid.

I think it's mostly a political thing.
Western people have been somewhat brainwashed to think that Russia is not a good country.
For example in western movies russians are often scripted as some sort of bad guys or terrorists.

I like todays russia and russians more than i like todays sweden and swedes, but this is offtopic.

Crowd doesn't matter

I doubt it matters lot for Russian players. But it might have positive effect on the energy level of our team. Not saying it absolutely will. But home crowd can bring that little extra kick in your legs when the tank is otherwise empty.

But it won't make or break the game.

Hoping for Finland to win, only seen Russia play one game(the Denmark game), and if their D is anything like that today, then I expect the game to end with high scores.

Also would a Swede want Russia to win?
I would root for Canada or USA against Russia any day. :)

But I root for Finland against any team but Sweden.

Yeah, how is that surprising? The majority of Swedish fans root for Finland when Sweden is eliminated.

Yeah it usually becomes a Europe vs North America mentality. And I don't think anyone likes the Russians.

I like Russian teams these days. In this tournament, they have been my second favorite team. I like the display of team effort that so often is missing from Russian NT.

But my opinions change depending on the team in the tournament. This time, I just happen to have a soft spot for that Russian team.

I leave out politics 100% from sports.

Well in my case its not politics... but about the supporters/fanbase of this teams.

Since my favorit fighter of all time is the Russian Fedor Emelianenko...
