hey remy, we're allowed to bash one of our countrymen if we want. But don't you think it's fishy that naslund played 15-20 games injured for canucks instead of fixing that problem? Now 10 10 days before olympics he withdraws.

Well, I guess I can't argue with that... ;) I guess you and I just have a different view of Markus. And mine is more of a "Defensive-Oh-No-You-Didn't-Just-Say-That" female point of view. ;)

On a serious note though, I can't tell you why Näzzy didn't sit out for more than one Canuck game. If I knew why he continued to play with an injury, I would tell you. But I don't. However in all honesty I do wish, when he first found out about the injury, that he would have sat out. If it takes him sitting out 15 games to heal, I hope he does that. And as far as him withdrawing 10 days before the Olympics, maybe after the game the other night in Phoenix, he realized that he wasn't getting any better and decided it was best not to wait until the last minute to tell Gustafsson that he would need to find a replacement. He did provide the following statement in a TSN.CA article that was published today:

TSN.Ca said:
The injury has hampered Naslund's skating, especially the first couple of strides. That's been the toughest part," he said earlier this week. "I'd like to think that I can get a couple of quick steps and hopefully buy myself some time. Now, I don't feel like I can get away from the guys and get my shot off. I feel that I'm moving slow enough that the shots get deflected or stopped."

Naslund has 24 goals and 31 assists in 52 games this season. He and the Canucks training staff have been trying to treat the injury for the last two months with limited success.

Now believe it or not, I'm actually rooting for Sweden to take the Gold. So I really do want the best possible players out there. And if Pete is 100%, I hope he goes out there and kicks some International butt! And I would want the same for a healthy Näslund. So when the Olympics roll around, I will be the minority in my neck of the woods cheering for Team Sweden. And they better win the Gold, or I'm really, really in for some serious h*ll from my friends. And a girl just can't have that! :)

I hope you bash forsberg just as much if he decides to pull out due to his groin. :p:

Never... The thing is that alot of swedes didn't want Näslund on the orignal roster, in the NHL Näslund is a superstar but he is nothing to Forsberg in Sweden. I won't bash Näslund, I would have liked to see him on the team but I don't care too much about him not coming, didn't have high expections of him doing anything great for us, Holmström on the other hand can be very useful in tight games when the outcome often is decided by the special-teams.
