I thought for sure you would give it to Igor for the Dahlin goal.
That one was really bad and I had it as the clear winner (with that first goal against Markstrom as second) until I saw that one on Kochetkov.

I love how he's praised by the announcers (at least on the Carolina feed) for that one because of all the break dance moves he made to try and keep it out of the net after it initially leaked through him.

Softy of the night is this Connor McMichael goal on Jordan Binnington

@Dialamo I saw you mention this one before our game started. Definitely had to give it to this one. Most of the 8 goals on Binnington in this game weren’t bad, but this one definitely was.

If you play last night's game with NJ and SJ 10 times Blackwood loses in 7 of them and gets shelled in four of those losses. Everything had to go right for SJ last night.

I’ll echo the comments upthread, this remains probably the most valuable content made on HF these days. The dedication on this has me somewhat surprised that it hasn’t been picked up by a pro outfit.

Flames goalies look to have been playing relatively well this year. Some stinkers but overall I think their percentages are pretty good.

I always appreciate your kind words and you following along.

but I'm just a guy and I'm not sure a pro outfit would have much interest in this kind of stuff. I actually regret not doing something like this in 2006 or 2007. I think I could have struck it somewhat rich then, if I was ever going to.

It's not like I didn't have internet back then. The only thing is the youtube videos were in such grainy quality back then that I couldn't do it the way I do it today. There'd be too much margin for error with the way those videos were.

I'd certainly be open to a pro outfit wanting to pick me up, but not sure how realistic that is. But I'm flattered that you even threw the idea and possibility out!

Softy of the night is this David Pastrnak goal on Jordan Binnington

One timer and all, but he totally missed this one. Looked like a routine save we see many times every game and it just squeaks through. Pastrnak has this saved probably multiple times per game, unless he roofs it.

Which two goals against Knight did you mark as stoppable?

Timo and Cotter.

Timo one was from just far enough out and beat him blocker side where I’d mark it stoppable.

Cotter was short side from a dead angle.
I didn't think the Cotter goal was stoppable to my eyes. Just a perfectly placed laser that the goalie had no chance on. I didn't think Knight was out of position to create the goal. On the Meier goal he was facing a partial breakaway and while the spot where it went in wasn't great I don't think I'd blame him on that as it was a tricky shot.

The Cotter goal is a very common goal nowadays. I used to think that was one of the weaker goals. Marty used to allow them more than a lot of goalies due to his style of play relative to other goalies around the league. At least by the second half of his career.

But I see at least one of those goals every 1-2 nights since I started doing these reviews. So I don’t give them softy of the night, unless there’s not much else to choose from. My first year they were the softy of the night every night they happened until I realized how common they are. Goalies doing the reverse VH also has made them more common than before.

The Meier goal was pretty borderline for me. It wasn’t terrible or anything.

Remember those dead angle goals that Schneider used to let in once he was broken. Those were painful and you knew when they were coming sometimes.

One that I remember came @ Florida.

I wasn’t there that night, as that was when I banned myself from going down there and would only go to Tampa. It was during the Hall MVP year in 2018.

I think it was his first game back, and he let in a brutal one when the game was tied in the 3rd period. Maybe even the second half of the 3rd period.

Between that and literally every game he played after he came back that year caused Kinkaid to be the starter until game 3 of the playoffs.
