I said it at the beginning of the season and will repeat it again. The leafs are a bubble team and only look good b/c they play in by far the worst division in the league. Hopefully Tampa, DET and the pens give them a good run in the back half of the season.

Leafs are going to be desperate for a win in this one. Time to show off our new found defensive prowess, don’t get into a run and gun early with these guys. Work hard, play smart, don’t give them anything and don’t cheat for chances. Third game in four nights for these guys, they’ll be mad and come out hard early but if we can limit their offense early they’ll get frustrated and either fade or start taking way too many chances.

At the end of the day win or lose as long as EDM makes the playoffs, are clicking and get good goaltending (just like this the team has been getting lately) that's all that matters to me. The actual post season. lol

I was listening to MacTavish on Stauffer whenever Stauffer would shut his yap and let MacT get a word in edge wise and what he said rang true to me. Kane is a finisher and needs to play with good players. So while he doesn’t look like a top 6 player, he likely won’t until he plays in the top six. Playing him with Ryan and Janmark isn’t really giving him the opportunity to finish plays. So hopefully this sparks him a bit. Because gord knows we need him producing.

Leafs split up Marner and Matthews for the Detroit game and they are back together tonight. I thought Marner looked goo with Domi and on his own line. Hard for Matthews to pot anything unless Marner is there to feed him. He truly is a unique player. He has probably the best shot in the league and is so streaky. He pots goals in multiples. His assist total is always ugly to me. For a true #1 C, I want to see guys score, but also make players around them better.

I always seen Matthews as a stronger and more elite Lindholm, but pretty average defensively. He needs guys to set him up and is not the play driver guys like McDavid, Drai, Kuch, and Mackinon are. Look at Mackinnon against them. He ran Matthews show. Kicked it up. Matthews always looks like Bertuzzi to me from Vancouver. He always got ragged on because he looked like he was just strolling around the ice, had a little spurt here and there.

Like the youngsters say, he don't got that dawg in him. Mackinnon does. Kucherov does. mcDavid and Drai do. They get pissed all of the time. I never see it with Matthews. Great player, but he reminds me more of a Brett Hull.
