Honestly this has went through my mind as well. Once it kicks in and he has a huge say where he goes then he may ask
Pettersson feels like a player that would love to play in a sunny city like LA/SJ/ANA and I would be ok trading him there.

He sucks rn but there’s no way this is true.

The smarter play would be to play hard UNTIL then to ensure you don’t get sent somewhere you don’t want to go.

There's just no way he's injured... he's mentally checked out.

I just can't defend him anymore.

I think he wants to be here but doesnt want to put in the effort off the ice unless that effort is video games and fashion shows

Who is the last rookie Canuck defender to come in a play as assertively on defence as Pettersson? Know some people have mentioned Edler, but while he stood out with the puck on his stick, he was way more passive/tentative defensively to start. Maybe Ohlund?
Probably Ohlund. Bourdon was meh defensively. Edler was timid at the start. Corrado wasn’t anything spectacular.

It’s funny, a lot of ppl have mentioned Edler, but I see more Ohlund. Especially when you see EP25 in person, in gear, he is thick like Ohlund.

Corrado? Tanev?

Neither of them stood out like Pettersson, though.

Young Ohlund was fantastic, if he hadn't had the eye injury his number would be in the rafters here.

Hes waiting for his NTC to kick in so he can choose his destination is my guess... shitty part is he has TANKED his value.
Wouldn't it be smart of him to tank his value before requesting a trade though? That means his new club will have to give up less assets for him (and they'd be stronger because of it).

Pettersson for Necas, Kotkaniemi, Morrow and a 1st rounder last season would've altered the trajectory of this entire franchise.

We beat the Oilers, for one.

And this season Necas went supernova this season while playing on the second line in Carolina, imagine lining him up with Miller? They'd be unstoppable.

Our defensive core would be set for the next decade with Hughes, Hronek, M-Petey, D-Petey, Morrow and Willander --- but without sacrificing our offense.
EDit nevermind

The implications of D.Pettersson breaking out down the left-side are substantial, obviously. You have a lot more flexibility on building the roster. We have needed an impact ELC for so long, somewhat in shock.
Before the season I was thinking he might be a call up option for us next season. Incredible development to have him already step in and play meaningful minutes already and look confident doing it. Lots of Ohlund/Edler in his game.
