Cole and Zadorov had better outlet passes. Our D flat out sucks and have zero vision. Forwards are playing deeper in our zone trying to bridge a gap which leaves us being out numbered in the neutral zone.

It's like Travis Green hockey again.
I know I keep mentioning it, but bringing back either of those guys would have changed the fortunes of this team a lot. If only we had used the myers money to bring back Zads.

But of course, we can't go with the more competent defenceman when we could just play worse players .... but since they're on their strong side they're going to be 2x better. Right? Right? RHS/LHS obsession on defence in the league is out of control.

Disappointing

Last year those late chances were going in. This year we are snake bitten. The game was 50 - 50, and that is not a particularly good thing.

Hope they have a better showing against the Oil.

This team can string together periods, or even games, of good play and then make the most boneheaded defensive breakdowns and coverage mistakes that always seem to end up in the back of the net. Not getting good enough goaltending from either guy to cover up for atrocious d-zone coverage and breakouts.

I am beginning to wonder if there are just too many stupid players on this team or what the heck is going on.

Against a completely listless team and the Sabres just autopilot to a win because we're even more moribund somehow. Don't buy the puck luck argument, because they also had quite a few great opportunities lost because of randomness.

Worse yet, I think many of us saw it coming... literally incapable of playing airtight with a lead like last season because of sloppiness with the puck. Hughes had a bad game, and we know no one in the blueline is capable of filling the gap he leaves. Hronek/Soucy/Desharnais were terrible. Forbort actually serviceable, but that's it.

And the bad play from the backend shows that our bottom 6 just sucks at winning battles from all the board play that they have to do due to the lack of good transitions. Lots of effort, sure, but just not enough skill, size or IQ to go around. So it falls on the shoulders of the stars and the outliers to make things happen, and that's never a recipe for success over a long season. Games that should be automatic are losses instead and they add up. Won't make the playoffs like this.

The team went from blowing third period leads and losing in OT to blowing third period leads and losing in regulation.

But in their defense, this wasn't just any team.

This was the 16th (dead last) place team in the East playing on the second night of a back to back, on the road.

So you can't blame the Canucks too much here, this could've happened to anyone.

On a serious note, we are heading straight towards the mushy no direction middle tier with Miller about to leave, mediocre pieces coming back, and Hughes up in 2 years. We’d be better off picking either direction and gunning hard for it, but it’s not obvious what we’re doing.

Canucks almost had it

They were up 2-1 at home against the last place team in the East on the 2nd night of a b2b

And the Canucks almost had them

Well Hughes blew coverage and then threw a hard pass looking for a point that was iced rest played ok good enough to pull a point .
Hope they have a roadtrip coming lol

Why whole-ass one thing when you could half-ass two?
