Then this core needs to be blown up

Willie
Green
Bruce
Tocchet

They don't get a 5th coach without major changes
It's not entirely the coaches fault imho so I'd concur.
Not necessarily "blowing it up" kind of change but some significant changes will be required.
We went through multiple coaches who didn't know how to coach and could barely employ a decent system so Tocchet looked wholey capable due to our shit standards. He's always had major issues with team offense and no surprise....team isn't scoring and isn't able to outscore their defensive whoas.
The inability to change man-advantage tactics for a year alone would be more than enough to cost his job.

It'd suck to see him go if that was the case because he was the only good coach we've ever had in a decade.

Whenever Connors second goal gets posted I implore everyone to watch juulsens defense multiple times....

How the coaches see that once, let alone three times every single game, and not waive this heckin clown is baffling and annoying.

When Mike Gillis came on board, Alain Vigneault was a defense first coach. Gillis met with him for like, a solid week, in Vegas and the end result was a total shift in Vigneault’s philosophy to move to an offensive puck possession style.

Allvin needs to sit down with Tocchet and do something similar. This “never shoot the puck” strategy doesn’t seem to be going well without an unsustainably high PDO to make it work.

Need the right players to buy in

This is not a playoff team with Miller injured/moping and the D in this state. Please hold on to the first round pick and just let it play out.
The draft looks incredibly weak, and even if they miss the playoffs they'll be picking around the mid range of the first round which would net them a player who may become impactful on the roster 3-4 years from now. Might as well use the 1st as a trade chip to try to bring another Hronek-esque player in.

When you have a player like Hughes, you do whatever it takes to win during his window.

The issue is there'd not a whole lot of options out there right now. Gallant for instance has a tendancy to be a major asshole.

I hate to say it but I think we have a problem with our top 2 centres.

Tocc started that game with basically the 4th line to set the tone and it started great!!!

but when the rotation around the 3 minute mark came up to the top lines and JT F*cked up defensively….the team completely cratered….like everybody!!!

Sad

Tocchet then needs to counter by asking for the right players to actually play an offensive game. Granted, I agree, his system relies far too heavily on the ideal scoring chance, but a major talking point this summer was splitting up Hughes and Hronek. Allvin pretty much made that impossible.

Lol. Dance is blowing smoke. That contract is a millstone. Would anyone be happy if we picked up another teams player with a 3x3 contact and his current form? If he can't start scoring goals again someone might take a chance, might.

No way. His buyout is super cheap, less than $500K per year. There's very little downside risk to acquiring him.

when i saw the Jets top line moving through the neutral zone and Juulsen tripping over his own feet i knew it was trouble. He didn't disappoint
