the canucks pk is mostly a defensive unit problem imo. the reason stillman stuck in the lineup so long is hughes and oel just can't kill penalties and on the right side they keep going back to myers

if they ever find a reliable pairing on the pk they have the forwards to have a respectable pk

PK was historic bad at the beginning of last year as well. And the defense is awful this year on the PK and ES. Blaming a PK coach - new to the team this year - doesn't add up to me.

Not saying he doesn't deserve any blame.. but the players are the bigger issue to me.
Somewhat agree…but if the same players continue to fail, you need to adjust and put different players out there. I still have no earthly idea how Myers continually gets PK time.

Our defensive metrics is like at the bottom of the league, worse than teams like Chicago and Anaheim and their AHL roster.

Like there is no reason why it’s THAT bad. Like bottom 10? Sure. Historically bad? Like worse than the 40ish points tanking teams in the past? That’s some f***ed up shit.

The vast majority of the defenceman's responsibility in his own end is retrieving the puck. Hughes consistently succeeds at getting control of the puck and getting it out. Not sure how people can't see what he does out there game after game.

I think people can see he's good at that specific thing while acknowledging he isn't very good at other things in his own zone

Boeser's hair, just like his shot, is held back by his skating. This hyphen swedish dude can actually skate and show off that flow.

They've tried everyone on D, they all suck. Agreed with trying different forwards

I don’t know if it would, I think people have already made up their mind

I dont think that he has far above average skill he will never have size to physically dominate games but he could use skating and smarts to play better d.
Watching him backcheck lazily or avoid chances engage opponents is worth criticism put your head down and skate back hard get yourself into those difficult areas take the hit block bodies or shots see him hang on perimeter in those situations too much.

Lots of blame to go around, that's for sure.

I feel like there's not enough communication on the ice between our guys. This much communication usually means the defence is a lot better.

@MS was fond of pointing up how Biega was always talking on the ice. Clearly communicating with his defensive partner and forwards.
