Well it’s hard to say that when management brings in 2 pkers and they are barely used.

even with bad personnel, there is no reason it is historically bad. It’s like you could give Lemaire a bunch of plugs and you know their PK % wouldn’t be this bad

Disagree. I think this PK would struggle with this defensive group under any coaching.. as we've seen under two coaching staffs the last two years.

Do you know how many $8 million players there are that are completely shit defensively, if he’s near appoint per game, he’s worth the money

There are currently 40 players in the league that are PPG it ain't that special anymore.

Right now Miller is 72nd in the league scoring tied with Tyler Toffoli. You can't be shit defensively and be putting up those numbers.

Studnicka is interesting.

He shows signs of having the speed/tenacity/decent enough skill to be a quality 3rd liner but also still makes some of the rough puck management errors of a young skill player who hasn’t completely made that transition to a safe role player.

If he can iron some of that out they might have something.

Fair enough, I just feel the criticism is a bit blown out of proportion.

I want to be clear though, I completely understand he is completely awful, defensively, and has an attitude, but he’s one of the few people that really do give a shit, he just channels his anger in the wrong places
Here's the issue for me - he's being outscored by three guys who make less than him. Even Kuzmenko isn't as egregiously bad on defence or with careless risky turnovers...and he's in his first year in the league. Bo has no wheels and isn't as bad as him.

I guess it's too much for me to ask that he play somewhat close to EP's level? He makes more than him...

For less salary and some commitment to effort on d it would lessen that criticism.

Unfortunately we can’t send him down to the A and let Colliton work with him

Not at all.. but it's been a good day for Hughes/Bear
The vast majority of the defenceman's responsibility in his own end is retrieving the puck. Hughes consistently succeeds at getting control of the puck and getting it out. Not sure how people can't see what he does out there game after game.

This is historic bad, this is not normal bad. We’ve seen worse rosters of player do better than this.
You can’t say nah not coaches fault when anything is at historic level bad.

Agreed, but we’ve also had historic bad goaltending this year which plays into the historic bad PK.

Last year was crazier because we were getting amazing goaltending but still couldn’t kill a penalty.

Win a game , lose 2 games. Win a game, lose a game. Win 2 games, lose a game.

.5000000000000 hockey !

13th overall pick.

It's more like win 2-3, have everyone go "hey we might be onto something here.." only to lose 3-4 and think "this team is absolutely pathetic and needs to be torn down to the studs.

Or maybe it’s just classic Vancouver and outside media blowing everything out of proportion like usual.

JT Miller is pretty shit, defensively, but my Lord, the guy is an offensive stud, there was a poll question saying that they should put him on waivers next year, pure stupidity
Yea, put him on a team where there is some structure, he will kill. Just imagine him on the Bruins or like Canes.

Crappers.
Martin cheating on his right side, a bit.

I think a flaw in Clarks system is that it really encourages the goalies to find their RVH early. They're not supposed to drop early or shade towards their post but under pressure it's an easy mistake to make and both Martin and Demko have let that habit creep into their games.

True, but we are having historic bad PK 2 seasons in a row now. When you are consistently historically bad, everything is wrong.

If you isolate OEL Myers and the goaltending, the team is not THIS bad

But unfortunately those 3 things are too much to ignore

I don’t know if it would, I think people have already made up their mind

PK was historic bad at the beginning of last year as well. And the defense is awful this year on the PK and ES. Blaming a PK coach - new to the team this year - doesn't add up to me.

Not saying he doesn't deserve any blame.. but the players are the bigger issue to me.
