I know with Quinn there was a hand injury that almost kept him out of the Sharks game. Apparently, Petey's injury happened in the 2nd period after he scored the 2 goals. What happened?

I don’t think we have been told, but upper body, shoulder maybe, they showed a clip off him hitting it awkwardly in the boards, then he didn’t take draws.

I said this a few weeks ago....you can sense when the wheels are about to come off and when a season is lost. This most definitely feels like a point where you should realize it is simply not going to happen this season. Nagging injuries are hard enough but it becomes even more bothersome when you are still trying to find balance and chemistry on all lines.

This really feels like that 07-08 season when so many things went so horribly wrong in the early going.

I mean, yeah maybe. But on the other hand, we're finding ways to stay in the race. Obviously the Hughes and Petey injuries could change everything if they're long term, but I see all the shit that has gone wrong this season as an opportunity to build some calluses.

Definitely can't go into the playoffs with this blueline. But there's zero chance that we will. Knock on wood, but we'll have Hughes back shortly, and Hronek and likely Willander on the roster before playoffs. Plus all the smoke about finding a top 4 addition.

I completely get your POV on this, but I'm still feeling optimistic on our chances. As long as the EP v JTM beef ends up being more Drake v Kendrick than Tupac v Biggie, then I see the challenges we're facing now being an opportunity to build resilience.

We've got a long way to go before we need to be at our best. I say it all the time, but just get in and see what happens is my mantra for this season.

I think at most you reassess the value of the 1st rounder, but I don't think their targets have really changed and they aren't exactly looking for rentals or one-year solutions anyways. Basically, if you can find a younger top-four defenseman that's cost-controlled, that trade isn't really too tied to how you do in the standings ... you need a few more anyways. I would probably not be in a hurry to trade for Yanni Gourde in this situation though.

Canucks missing their top pair (with the best defenseman in the world on there). Petey out, Miller not on his game and not in great conditioning yet... this is the type of game you either have a big character win or they disappoint in a big way.

Hoglander 9 point game incoming.
he needs to score. been what 28 games and counting without a point? sad.. also doesnt help that one mistake he does either in the offensive zone or D zone hes being stapled to the bench for the rest of the game. he overthinks too much. hes gotta be more like sherwood and the chances will come. but he hasnt quite put it together. maybe in a different organization with a coach who is patient with him and would be willing to help him out with his game. rick isnt the right coach for him imo.

The worst that can happen is that Calgary will tie them for the last WC spot but I think the Canucks will be ahead. Two other teams could get within 3 pts of them as well and Seattle within 5 pts.

I have found that when the star players are missing playoff types can step it up.

Pretty sure I posted that Tocchet's system of low event hockey does not rely upon 5 on 5 play.
They will keep it close and probably play for a tie/OT which is a win in this game for the Canucks.
