Hronek + top 4 + a legit top 6 winger, this team obviously looks completely different. Honestly amazing they’re still winning games with the current d set up. Most teams wouldn’t survive having Juulsen, Desharnais, Brannstrom and Myers in the line up at the same time
And you can definitely see the limitation of the team because of the defence.

Everyone’s trying to play a “safe” game and trying to squeeze out close games.

The complaints don't only happen when we're playing poorly. I get the sense that posters here would rather we look flashy and lose than play boring and win.

Fair enough. There’s certainly a bit of confirmation bias for the system haters when they run into poor play like this. But they do deserve to be criticized for that period after the Avs game.

I honestly think just a 2LD that can move the puck and carry their pairing would be enough to drastically change the team. A lot of the forwards are slumping right now for various reasons but it's mostly a good group.

They just need someone who can move the puck and otherwise hold their own for the 35 minutes Hughes isn't on the ice each game.

People are complete morons and don’t even bother trying to analyze the game.

I’m not surprised so many of the older posters left - I only came back last year when things were going well so I hadn’t seen how stupid people get when a couple things are going wrong.

They’re missing puck moving dmen, so when Hughes isn’t carrying or the forwards aren’t carrying it up all on their own things fall apart. It’s the worst group of puck movers in the league if you take out Hughes, and it’s not close - Alvin needs to address it.

Instead of accepting that, people would rather bitch about the coach who finally got rid of the loser mentality we had and wish we were losing 6-3 again, getting hemmed in just as much but with a few breakaway goals.

This is only half correct, imo. Management has put together a D Corps that is terrible at puck movement in part due to Tocchet's own preference. He likes the bigger, less skilled crease clearers and puck movement is clearly a secondary concern. Just take a look at Brannstrom's recent ice time for reference.

Tocchet's system has also resulted in record breaking shot totals (to the negative) in the playoffs.

You can definitely criticize the coach and the D Corps. What they're doing is unacceptable.
