Honestly. If a team is willing to trade a late 1st + prospect for Lankinen once Demko is healthy, I think you have to take that deal. That would be found money, and the guy isn't resigning after this year as he's due for a massive raise.

But you're gambling that Demko will be back to form and stay that way, because Silovs is not the answer.
That’s a rebuilding/retool mindset, which is not what we are doing here

Was just checking the advanced stats, he had two individual scoring chances and one high danger scoring chance. He needs to get up to speed, but I don't think he has played that badly.

5on5 he was on for 16 shot attempts and only 4 against. That's the lowest CA on the entire team.

Once he regains a bit of form, he'll be a force like last season.

It feels like there have been multiple times in every game where Joshua has forced a pass from a prime shooting position.

I'd try to resign him first. If not by the trade deadline then trade him.

You do realize who the Canucks other goalie options are, right?

What would the best option for us with Lank?

I think the way he's playing he's going to be well out of our price range.

If we can extend him that seems like the best and natural choice.

Multi year extension is by far the best option.

He chose here over other teams and more money, he's not going to go from under a million to five plus aav after thirty games. (Unless the avs go nuts)

We'll find the money for him, we're obviously a tandem team now, and moving forward.

Yes Vezina contender Demko. And if he's injured again or struggles in any way then we should be resigning Lankinen by any means necessary.

Demko, who’s not played this year because he was injured twice last season and couldn’t play. And Silovs who’s been unplayable bad.

If you can extend him, then great. If you can’t then that’s fine too. He’s not getting traded.

The Hughes-Myers pairing seems to be working a lot better this time around than it has in the past. If that is an option for us this season that really opens up some options.

Noticed Myers would skate down the right boards when Hughes would skate over to his side instead of criss-crossing on the point.

Seemed to cause some confusion for the defenders on their rotations and it created some space/offense.

I think he's realizing that in order to be effective, he has to be like Yzerman and completely restructure his game. Stevie went from an offensive superstar getting 130-150 points a season to being an elite two way forward averaging PPG. And that's when they started winning Cups.

No, I'm not comparing Pettersson to Yzerman or this team to the Red Wings. It's just an example that it can be done.

Not to pick on you specifically but this is one of my pet peeves: Yzerman was always a good two way player. His "offensive sacrifice" coincided with the beginning of the dead puck era.

Detroit started winning because they replaced 2C Bernie Federko with Sergei Fedorov, and (most importantly) 1D Steve Chiasson with Nick Lidstrom. That's it. Not Yzerman deciding to backcheck harder.

Hughes-Myers is this team's 4th-most used D pairing this year (behind Hughes-Hronek, Soucy-Myers, Brannstrom-Desharnais) and has a 62.2 CF%, and 59.6 xGF%. That might be the biggest surprise of the season.
