This game will officially mark the start of the Christmas season (well the day, not the actual game). So the season for taking is upon us!

Petey, please take another step (and get multiple points).

Miller, please take a step. We need ya bub.

Lekkerimaki, please take 6 shots on goal. And then keep shooting. Let the rest worry about quality of shots, you have quality built into your stick.

Lanky, please take a page from true #1s and flush that third period.

Tocchet, please take a word of advice from yourself and never do what you did roster-wise last game again.

Canucks, please take 2 points from these division pretenders.

And since I will have submitted report cards Tuesday morning, I will take this game in with too many gummies for a work night and a stiff drink. Don't make me regret it boys!

(And hopefully they are taking off the blacks and getting back to playing for our actual colours at home!)

If we could acquire a Tanev like RHD - preferably a stay at home that can take Soucy off the PK - we could roll out something like this;

Hughes - RHD
Soucy - Hronek
Brannstrom - Myers

I don’t think that would be so bad.

Tanev is a rare breed, very few are as good as him or as stable.

Silovs
  • Heard he had a good effort in the AHL
  • Needed to play
  • Went to the minor league team that was 1 hour away, 3 hours away with traffic; really helps when the AHL team is that close
Abbotsford
  • To bring a player to the NHL for a couple games or practices is huge for that player’s development
  • Can call them up at 10am and they’ll be there for practice
Next Game’s Starter
  • Would not answer who’s tomorrow’ starter
Joshua & Tomorrow’s Game
  • Looked good today
  • Trying to find a target date
  • Maybe thursday is a good time; good shot to play that game
  • Will see how he reacts after practice and how he is tomorrow
  • Won’t play 11/7 tomorrow
  • Will talk to Allvin and maybe call someone up
  • Doesn’t think Joshua needs a conditioning stint; has been out early for drills
  • Would rather play him 10-12 minutes in the NHL than go to Abbotsford
  • Goes game to game
  • Plays lots of different roles but will have to manage his minutes
  • Doesn’t think he will play tomorrow
Bad Performance After a Good One
  • Knew some players were tired; got home late
  • Need to learn how to play tired; shorten your shifts and stick to the gameplan
  • Had opportunities to execute but went “off-kilter”
  • Every game is a learning lesson; starting “on-time” is one of them
  • Wanted to play fast but started taking the puck back into their own zone
  • Oilers called a timeout but then couldn’t capitalize
Miller
  • Is hard on himself; he knows he has another level
  • Last game was probably his worst game of the year
  • Has had some good moments; will round it out; not worried about him
  • Loves that with Miller he knows when he’s not playing good enough
  • Whole team is trying to find another level
Boeser
  • No update
  • Hasn’t talked to him today
  • Day-to-day on when there will be an update on him; day-to-day thing
Lekkerimaki
  • Would rather have Garland back with Pettersson
  • Thinks Miller’s forechecking will work with Lekkerimaki; compares how Miller gets the puck to Boeser
  • Suter is the Swiss Army knife that can play the defensive game
  • Wants him to just play his game and shoot the puck
  • Young guys need to be selfish
  • Miller won’t be upset if you shoot the puck

I would be a little surprised if Bains wasn’t the forward called up tomorrow. Almost everyone else of note is either already here, or injured. I suppose maybe Max Sasson?

EDIT: I guess Klimovich as well, but hard to see him deploying on a checking line.

I also think Silovs starts tomorrow. Give him a chance for redemption against the team he started off the season on the wrong foot against.

I'm surprised he's had the career he's had, he always had the bad rap of a Daniel Sprong, Josh Ho Sang, offensive junior star but low character type player for some reason. Those kind of guys often end up bouncing around and not getting looks or settling in as middling players. He's had a not bad career.

As a prospect he was extremely tantalizing with his skill and size combo
I don't actually know here but I'd assume that when you're 6'5" and want to play a skill game rather than a physical game pro hockey tends to have a stigma that this is a bad attitude. Aside from one bad season in Washington he's had a more consistent career as a 40-50 point player, compared to those those other guys.

I knew he was bad, but holy crap that is next level awful.
Exactly and is he a good enough PKer to offset his ES play?

I think the answer is no.

Not sure about Lekk getting called up this soon, seems a bit premature before he’s fully rounded out his game in Abby.
I'm okay with it for a game and looksee even if it's only for a practice then back down to dominate.

Nice to see Demko continue to progress, they need him back soon to take the load of Lankinen a little bit as Silovs can’t really be trusted at the moment.
Fingers crossed ehre with a dialed in Demko this team could go places...well and EP40 back from wherever his head is at.

Pettersson's birthday so he should be motivated.

I know this because it's also my birthday. (Not fishing for birthday comments..ok a little) but I am much senior to ol EP. And not as wealthy.
A bad EP40 would be the best position player on my Bday and right now this goalie is the best Gilles Villemure.

Most people don't even know who he is.

Jiri Slegr might be the best position player.

The rest of your family has alerted me that they are grateful you have moved locations from the living room couch.
So you are that one guy that has that new valkynax shit app eh?

I found Tocchet’s comments about going with 11/7 quite funny. He hasn’t done it before, didn’t like it this time, probably won’t do it again, and seemed kind of grossed out about the whole experience.

So much for the Flames trading him at the deadline.
