Ya you let Lekk continue to hopefully put up points while working on his game. Get him into a much more rounded pro.

Raty on the other hand has a reasonably complete game and is in a different situation. When he gets called up, I sort of want it to be his final call up. Honestly, I'm OK with him getting 10-12 minutes a night in the NHL at this point. The canucks have enough winger depth that it's not a line that will be devoid of offensive talent.

I look forward to starting my days off with a Canucks game. Isac Lundstrom possible future centermen for Canucks, had some very disappointing years and injuries in Anaheim on some very terrible teams.

Raty just needs to play a safe, simple game and know where to be in the defensive zone - just needs to stay in his lane and he’ll be ok.

The Ducks, losers of 4 of their last five games.
Still with one win less than the Canucks.

Is this a statement game?

Players being showcased?

Canucks should win, well rested and out of the lime light for a week.

The Ducks have been playing a well structured game defensively they just haven't been able to score. This is anything but a freebie the team will have to play a solid game to win a close one. My prediction is a 2-1 game.

Random site note: last night I was driving home after 16 hours shift, crossing Royal Oak and Oakland east bound. For those who don't know at this intersection Oakland merges from 2 lanes into 1 at this point. I was in the center lane so I needed no change, and to my right was a car that slowed down and turned right. So I drove along Oakland and then another car from the original right lane tried to pass me and merge in I guess? It didn't look like he was close so I drove normally. And once the lanes merged into one and this guy was forced to follow me, he started blasting high beams on and off. I thought it was pretty funny, because it had ZERO effect on my driving, as my mirrors were in an angle where none of those lights could shine to my face. After doing this for a while, this guy shifted to the left, blasted pass me while riding the opposite direction lane, and sped off triumphantly with his massive gigachad victory.

I did nothing after that because I was laughing my ass off.

Always amuse me that people throw such tantrums on the road.

P.S.: Since the car itself didn't look like a particular luxurious one I'm gonna assume it was not Aquaman so don't bother asking.
Sounds like in a pick up truck here in lovely QC

The Ducks rebuild looks like how some kid playing EA NHL would do it. Way too many kids in at once, and not enough veterans insulating them. They have the talent base to turn things around, but the way they’re developing them in the NHL looks super sus.

You never want to go full Benning and sign 4th liners for 3 million plus, but you do want some decent players around in the top 6 so the kids learn good habits and are put in positions to succeed.

Anyways, if Lankinen starts they’re winning this one 4-2. If Silovs is in net, could turn into a barn burner.
How would you convince vets to sign for a rebuilding club? Either going to be money or term that they wouldn’t get elsewhere. Same as what Detroit did.

Cali is a high tax state as well. I had thought Ana would be more aggressive and look to trade for someone but opted to just take Fabbri and Dum for mid round picks.

See if the kids take a step or not.

Also hate seeing so many posters want to call up someone after a good 10 game stretch. Let the player go through a whole season of ups and downs and see how they battle through tough stretches.

Montreal calling up Joshua Roy last season after 30 odd games was IMO stupid. He stays with MTL for 23 games and finishes with 40 something AHL games and is down in the A to start this season. Have to keep some kids down to get them ready so that when they do go up, they stay there and don't need to go back down. At some point with the extra picks they have used, there's going to be a logjam in the NHL. So, if the kids don't develop as well, then you have to move off them. Don't have anymore time before the next group is pushing for a spot.

Detroit had no franchise-level building blocks when they want out and signed a bunch of middle 6, mid tier talent to expensive long term contracts, which has cursed them into the muddy middle. They needed at least one guy who showed the talent of a Hughes/Petterson before making those moves and capping themselves out.

Anaheim should’ve done what Chicago and San Jose did over the off-season with guys like Toffoli and Tervainen, given they’re no where near the cap. You overpay to acquire second line forwards and 4/5 defensemen (or someone pays you for it in the case of the Sharks with Walman) to insulate the young guns and help them to succeed. Players like Carlson can’t be playing with Robbi Fabbri if they want to optimize his development.

I am laughing at how all summer long we heard "finally Petey gets a winger in Debrusk" and now 10 games in he's with Suter and Hoglander while Debrusk is on the top line with Miller and Boeser.

Garland is the other winger on that line. What's interesting was there were a lot on this board that thought the simplest solution was to put Pettersson with Joshua and Garland. It's increasingly looking like that's what will eventually happen.

With Detroit, before signing those vets, Raymond/Seider as rookies help Det finish in like 8th to draft Kasper in 2022. Their window to be terrible was like 2018-2022. 5th worst in 2018. 4th worst in 2019. Worst in 2020. 5th worst 2021. 8th worst in 2022.

Came away with that with Zadina, Seider, Raymond, Evidsson, and Kasper.
Based on who went in the next 3-5 slots, Zadina one hurts with Hughes. The rest, you take Seider RHD over Boldy the winger. Lundell as a rock solid 2C (still waiting on the O to come along) or the 1st line winger in Raymond. 2021 draft still pending. But, Evindsson has done everything he can at the AHL leading up to this season to solidify his spot in the draft. Kasper, unknown.

Not sure Detroit was going to out tank Chi, SJ, Ana, CBJ in 23. Like Van, no lottery luck.
