Was Rob Neidermayer not traded to Anaheim at the deadline back in 2003 from Calgary?

Where is this info about Bryan Murray signing him coming from, you mean he extended him that summer?

I doubt he knew Scott would be joining two years later...

Why make a trade that can improve your team at any position when you want to make sure what's coming in meets the identity and the character we are building here; and can take you one step close to being a competitive playoff team which is obviously right around the corner.

I am happy if he doesn't try to fix anything during the season unless he can get a decent player that can legit play top 9 minutes cheap; Not fodder that other teams want to be rid of that we end up playing anywhere from top line to 13th forward.

"You can't make a trade just to make a trade"

What a f***ing stupid comment.

No you make them to improve your roster and not build a last place team, idiot.

Dorion speaks

only 1 deserves to be waived after an iffy game coming back from covid and not playing for a stretch.

collective sigh of relief. IF we can believe him.

Zero accountability once again - guy is a complete clown. Why is it so f***ing hard to admit that you didn't do a good job evaluating the team in the summer and didn't make the right moves? Be man for once in your life

I have no time for this argument. The fact they went into the season with a rookie as a second line centre and a flop as a third line centre was a huge problem.

Pinto was a guy that they should have been calling up from the AHL to help cover injuries at the NHL level OR the veteran that Pinto pushed down the lineup should have stepped up when Pinto got injured.

Using Clark Bishop as an argument? They've acquired the same quality of player easily through trade.

On a year where they wanted to improve they went with:
1. A second year player who had a strong rookie year.
2. A raw rookie (10 games of pro?)
3. A flop that was looking to turn it around.
4. A player who has performed in the past but came of a truly miserable season.
5. Clark Bishop.

They cheaped out as usual and ran with a bunch of their kids. They had zero depth going into the season and it caught up to them almost immediately.

Dorion has reached the Melynk stage for me. Just shut up dude, anything you say tends to make me angry.

I guess Wally wanted to be a man and speak up against things he felt were wrong, did they result in him being let go? Probably ya but at least he has his cojones still

I’m not knocking him for it.

More like it seemed ill advised in terms of execution. We have seen a guy like Mendez speak out, leave on his own terms, and start what seems like a much better fit with the athletic.

Wallace seemed to have been fired and left by the wayside.

I don’t mind Wallace, so I pulling for the guy to find his way. My pony was only that it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that employees of TSN are not allowed to undercut the financial interests of TSN.

It’s good to have courage to stand by your convictions, but you really need to match that with brains as well if you want to be effective.

It is what it is. It's like finally having enough at work and telling your boss to shove it. You tell him the truth and deal with the consequences, if for nothing more than the benefit of your own wellbeing. Agree with you generally that people shouldn't have been so surprised to see him canned, it comes with the territory really.

I disagree. Making a trade just to placate angry people on the internet is not wise.
Making a trade to improve the roster = placating internet people? Wow interesting
I guess every other team that made savvy hockey trades placated A LOT of internet people since apparently that's the only impetus for trades

Exaclty, it's an idiotic statement. Why would that ever be the reason to make a trade?

You make them to build a competitive team, something Dorion knows nothing about.

No, you build a team for the future. No point on wasting assets on hole plugs when they're just going to get replaced by future kids.

I don’t really agree when he says the roster has underperformed. A few underperformers? Sure. But for the most part it’s just not a good roster and they’re performing roughly to expectations imo.

Exaclty, he should stop f***ing doing that. He has done exactly that several times already

Nobody is mad because he isn't making a random trade, it's because the totality of his work has been absolutley and utterly pathetic. Last Place team.

Do you ever notice with Dorion it is always the 'yeah, I didn't really mean what I said' excuse all of the time. I didn't really mean that the rebuild was over, I didn't really mean the Stone trade was the best day of my life ... It is like he is a kid playing NHL2022 on franchise mode and had to brag to his friends about all of his awesome moves.

Hey Dorion, here's a protip: how about next time you shut up and let the product on the ice do the talking. You always sound like a smug douchebag anyway, and everything you have touched so far has turned to shit. Save the big talk for when (if) this team accomplishes something other than being out of the playoffs before Christmas.

Not sure what the f*** you are talking about @Wondercarrot

I don’t think that has anything to do with my response. Someone else inferred that the mainstream media would start trashing PD.

Weird you need to turn it into something else

If Wally wants to vlog about how much he hates the team… so be it. Vloggers can do it. Just be cognizant that he has a personal vendetta.

He is persona non grata, and that is a fact. Takes a lot to be excommunicated.

And it wasn’t the organization that got him in that position. That’s a fact.
With all due respect that was your own inference of their comment that seems to have triggered you a bit more than anything. The word trashing is all your own.

Going on air or in print assessing the job Dorion has done is not out of line or trashing him. Every GM faces the same circumstance and this is just black and white nonsense.

So we agree he signed Rob. And then there's some speculation, which does not change fact he signed Rob.
Yes, we agree he brought Rob to Anaheim. I disagree that did it to secure the services of his brother down the road.
