If i am the new ownership, i would give Dorion one more year just to see how this roster with Chychrun does. I think he deserves it.

But i would absolutely make him fire Smith. He doesn't deserve another season.
Let's not get back into ownership telling GMs what to do. If Dorion wants to hang his hat on Smith, then he should be allowed to. If you insist on change, you fired Dorion and Smith and start fresh.

If Alfie comes in as POHO Dorion is toast.

Wouldn't it be prudent to see how the season plays out before making declarative statements about who deserves to be fired and who deserves to keep their job?

I don't know about that. I've had my criticisms of Dorion but Alfie knows first-hand how much his hands were tied by ownership when he was here.
He also knows how PD pushed him out, was a very insecure man. PD was a different guy then but Alfie doesnt forget.

It's not going to be performance based. Unless Alfie is the most forgiving human on the planet Dorion will be gone.

How much has PD changed, maybe we should ask McGuire.

There is no way new ownership doesn't recognize the amazing things PD has done with building this team. He gets 2 more years, easily. Bringing in someone new to tweak now could be more disastrous than advantageous for the team.

If the team falls flat on its face and the pick ends up being a high one, who knows?

He made a big splash with Duchene as well and despite Matt's production here, didn't work out.

I like the move obviously, our defensive corps was our biggest weakness, but the trade itself doesn't necessarily keep his job.

I’m not buying PD/Alfie beef in the slightest. Especially since the only source is from PD haters.

Alfie is around the team all the time these days, and he’s already been offered a position with the team.

All with Dorion in charge.

Alfie came back around the team once Eugene was gone, that’s pretty clear.

In the space of 2 months. Jan 2-March 2..

no idiot moves
getting rid of Zietsev
acquiring Chyc.
a team dead in the water to being alive and kicking and probably in the drivers seat for a playoff spot
Debrincat scoring
Giroux scoring and leading by example
Stuzle playing as a star

We are talking: from the outhouse to the penthouse....

Dorion and the staff should be given their due.. this is coming together!!!

I for one am eating enough humble pie, it could be years before I forget the taste..... It has been 6 years since I was able to watch a game and cheer, the way I did this week.

heck Dorion should stand up at some game, put up a sign: to all haters and give us the finger.

You have no idea about this. Multiple potential ownership groups have met with him. He met with city council.
Of course I don't know for sure, but it is not very likely. Why would he put his money into the team? He wants to be a part of it, but why own it? Just doesn't make sense to me.

@Micklebot - which teams have player owners besides Pittsburgh? I thought he was the only one.

They probably match what he buys with ghost shares. It's good for the brand. 99.9% of sens fans love him. You're in the .01.

Very likely he is the president. He left because of Melnyk and PD I understand why you don't like him.

Marshawn Lynch is a minority owner of the Kraken, Gretzky used to be a partial owner of the yotes, it's becoming more common across sports in general for ex athletes to invest in sports teams. There are about 20 ex athletes now that have bought into pro sports across various leagues, Harding, Jordan, Dunn, the Williams sisters, you don't need to have huge stakes, less than 1% can get you in and the returns historically have done better than traditional investment opportunities, meanwhile majority owners are starting to see it as a symbiotic relationship in the same way Ryan Reynolds is viewed as a no brainer to partner up with.

The one thing you can say for Dorion, is right from the get go he's never been shy a out making big deals.

Zibanejad for Brassard
Turris and 1rd for Duchene
Karlsson for 1st, 2nd, Norris, Tierney, Demelo
7oa, 2nd, 3rd for DeBrincat
1st, 2nd and 2nd for Chychrun

Can't think of too many GMs that have made that many big trades in such a short span
Vald point that he's not shy about making big moves. To me its the rationale along with the timing. Either the rationale/player targeted is off, and if its not that the timing doesn't make sense.

Dorion put the uni on for the presser; He should get his own clothing line

He's getting enough skin there to start a new face
