"Unfortunately, we were unable to come to agreements with Nick Ritchie and Ryan Pulock. I knew trading for their rights was a risk. It's a shame we couldn't make something work. I wish them the best of luck in their new homes." - regulahbread

Free Agency/Trades
Minnesota signs C Tyler Bozak, 2 years, $2M per
Minnesota trades C Miroslav Suchy and LW Sammy Blais to Colorado in exchange for D Cale Makar

"Miroslav Suchy is an excellent talent, and we had every intention of seeing him play for the Minnesota Wild for a long time. That being said, when you have the opportunity to acquire an elite young defenseman like Cale Makar, you do it, even if it means trading a top prospect within the division. We wish Miroslav and Sammy the best of luck in Colorado." - regulahbread

Minnesota trades D Jared Spurgeon to Anaheim in exchange for LW Maxime Comtois

"Jared was a great player for us, but his contract, combined with the acquisition of Cale Makar made him expendable. We wish him well moving forward." - regulahbread

"This was a brutal loss. We had control of the series, and we couldn't keep it going. I'm not sure what changed between Games Two and Three, but I'm going to assess everything and see what my options are, starting with the draft. We lost to a great club - hell, they won the Stanley Cup last season - but in my opinion, this group was too talented to go out like this. We're gonna look different next October. How different? We'll see." - regulahbread

I need help with something, hopefully you guys can help me !

So what is the best set up for an expansion team ?
Can we use custom roster with the real 2020 draft or if we use custom roster, we have a random draft.
If we can't, I'll use the actual roster, if we do so, do we have the off season movements or Hall is with Arizona, Toffoli with VAN,etc

If it's not clear I'm sorry, i'll try to explain it in an other way !!

I have used edited custom rosters with the old default roster so the 2020 is the authentic 2020 prospects

I think I'm only gonna do a few more years of this, maybe until I win another Cup. I have an absurd idea for an expansion franchise I wanna do. It's gonna take a lot of time and work so I wanna do it while I'm between semesters.

Ahahaha no wayyyyy

there’s too much wrong with GM mode man. It’s hard to go deep.

3 teams have multiple starting goalies and then 5 don’t even have a quality backup.

Yeah for sure, it's why I'm getting ready to wind down my Wild franchise. It's quickly becoming a mess.

The expansion franchise idea I have in mind is going to have to go for awhile due to the nature of it - I'll explain when I post it - but I think it'll be worth it.

Can’t believe that’s still a problem in 21....

and contracts are random same with demands....

you need to be able to withdraw your FA offers or confirm them when you get your target.

Minnesota trades D Calen Addison to Florida for D Don Marr

"Calen was a key member of the team that brought Minnesota its first Stanley Cup. We wanted to extend his contract, but unfortunately what he felt he deserved and what the club would be able to afford moving forward didn't match. We wish him luck in South Florida. Don Marr is an excellent young defenseman who is signed to a team-friendly deal. We look forward to seeing him wearing green. Throughout my Wild franchise, I noticed that relatively few of my draft picks were contributing to my NHL roster. So then I thought "what if I could only have my draft picks on my NHL roster?"

My plan is this: I'm going to start an expansion team, trade all the players I get for draft picks, and only have my drafted players on my NHL team. I can sign low overall players to max contracts to hit the cap floor, but only players I select in the Entry Draft can ever suit up for my team.

I'm going to use the default rosters so I have the 2020 draft class, and not a bunch of randoms. First post will be either later today or tomorrow.

THE PORTLAND LUMBERJACKS: AN EXPERIMENT IN HOMEGROWN TALENT

The NHL announced today that its 32nd franchise will be the Portland Lumberjacks, who will play in the Pacific Division. Arizona will move to the Central. Portland will play their home games at Moda Center, which they will share with the NBA's Portland Trailblazers. Their AHL affiliate will be the Sacramento Thunder. Portland's general manager, regulahbread, has announced that the club will take an unconventional approach to building his roster, which after the Expansion Draft, will also include the #1 overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft.

"I'm trading everyone we pick - ideally back to their original club - for picks in the Entry Draft. We're going to have a roster of 20 rookies. These kids are going to struggle together, for sure. But they'll also learn to lean on and trust each other as they mature and grow in this league. I'm going to bring a Stanley Cup to the city of Portland, but I can't promise there won't be plenty of growing pains and frustration first. This will pay off. I promise." - regulahbread
