Winnipeg Jets - No 80s
I've started a franchise with the Jets and my goal, of course, is to win the Stanley Cup. The catch here? I can't use anyone on my team who's an 80 overall or higher. I'm going to play all the games, but with my players being so subpar, I don't know how easy it will be.

The rosters for this franchise were fantasy drafted. As one might expect, there are some pretty terrible contracts on my books, as I needed to make sure we were above the cap floor.

These are our lines:

Brock McGinn (79) - Sean Kuraly (79) - Cal Clutterbuck (78)
Zach Aston-Reese (79) - Nico Sturm (79) - Colton Sissons (79)
Milan Lucic (79) - Joe Thornton "A" (79) - Joel Armia (78)
Nick Foligno "A" (79) - Zemgus Girgensons (79) - Zack Kassian (77)

Radem Simek (79) - Travis Hamonic (79)
Patrik Nemeth (79) - Erik Gudbranson "C" (78)
Mike Reilly (79) - Nikita Zaitsev (78)

Samuel Montembeault (79)
Malcolm Subban (79)

I'll post updates every 10-15 games or so.

CANUCKS INTRODUCE NEW PRES. OF HOCKEY OPS/GENERAL MANAGER
Jan. 31st, 2023
Despite a final swing to save their reputations and jobs post Boudreau-gate with a Horvat trade hockey fans lauded as "a fleece" and hockey insiders called a "win-win", both Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin were alleviated from their posts as President of Hockey Ops and GM of the Vancouver Canucks.
Tasked with taking their place and restoring faith in the Canucks from Vancouvers fanbase is rookie President of Hockey Ops and GM Brant King.
In his opening presser, GMBK alluded to fixing the culture, building the right way and finding a way to keep players who want to be Canucks. The last point specifically seems to take a shot of the previous regime for not making things work with Bo Horvat, who said no less than 3 times during his first Islanders interview that he had previously anticipated "being a Canuck for life".
King also mentioned that he doesn't disagree with the previous regime's statement that this team will undergo "significant surgery" this offseason, and even went so far as to sing the music Vancouver fans ears have been longing for "we've got pieces here the build on. We don't need a complete rebuild, but my job is to find the pieces we are going to rebuild on as base after we strip this thing down to its core parts".
Speculation ran rampant on who becomes the "untouchables". It can be assumed Elias Pettersson would be one, while Quinn Hughes is likely the other. Young prospects Nils Hoglander and Vasili Podkolzin are likely high on the list of "not on the table unless the offer blows us away".
With the most aggressive statement towards being a deadline seller, Brock Boeser, Conor Garland, Tyler Myers, Luke Schenn, Tanner Pearson and maybe even JT Miller and Thatcher Demko could be on the table.

CANUCKS ACQUIRE 1ST, 2ND ROUND PICKS FOR SCHENN, BOESER
Feb. 5th, 2023
The Canucks have yet to play a game with GM Brant King at the helm, and they have already significantly altered their club with two more trades in the week following the Bo Horvat deal.
First, it was announced that Brock Boeser had been dealt to Florida for a 2023 2nd round pick and veteran Patrick Hornqvist. As Florida attempts to climb back into the playoff race, it was odd to see veteran Patrick Hornqvist accept a trade to the rebuilding Canucks, but it was quickly clear.
GM Brant King immediately flipped Hornqvist at 50% retention along with Luke Schenn, a 2023 3rd and a 2024 4th to the Boston Bruins for their 2023 1st rounder, Jakub Lauko, AJ Greer and Mike Reilly.
Hornqvist is now on the clear-cut Cup favorite, while the Canucks are clear of Brock Boesers salary and now own THREE 2023 1st round picks.

GARLAND, MYERS GONE AT DEADLINE AS CANUCKS CONTINUE TEARDOWN
Trade Deadline
Conor Garland has been moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Travis Dermott in exchange for the Penguins 2023 2nd round pick and defenseman Ty Smith.
Also, Tyler Myers has been traded to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for their 2023 3rd round pick. Myers has one more year remaining on his deal after this season, and the Canucks have retained $2.0M of his salary for the remainder.

CANUCKS WIN DRAFT LOTTERY AFTER LATE PLAYOFF PUSH
NHL Draft Lottery
While the Canucks unloaded at the Deadline, their players gave it a valiant effort post deadline.
After struggling out of the gates, they rattled off 7-straight wins and pulled within 3 points of the playoffs.
The win streak sent Vancouver fans into a downward spiral as their lottery odds dwindled with each win, and I'm sure GM Brant King felt much the same after his deadline moves aimed at getting a high draft pick to build on.
It seems though, the hockey gods rewarded the Canucks players for their never say die attitude, and blessed them with teh 1st overall pick, which will undoubtedly turn into franchise cornerstore and Vancouver native Connor Bedard. It's truly a storybook finish to the season for the Canucks.
The Canucks will also pick 31st with the Bruins pick after they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Calgary Flames.
The Islanders pick ended up being 12th after Bo Horvat could not help them into the Playoffs, and with the trade protection, it slides to an unprotected 2024 1st.

BEDARD A CANUCK, DEMKO SENT TO SENATORS FOR 13TH OVERALL PICK, UFA TALBOT
2023 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
After selecting Connor Bedard 1st overall, the Canucks made a move to get into the top 15 one more time, sending goaltender Thatcher Demko (.904 SV% last season) to the Ottawa Senators for rights to pending UFA Cam Talbot and the 13th overall pick.
With that pick, they selected defenseman Cam Allen.
Later in the Draft, they also traded Tanner Pearson to the Chiago Blackhawks for Colin Blackwell. The Canucks also included a 2025 4th in the deal, while they got a 2025 7th rounder back. The pick swap would account for the $2.0M+ difference in salary.
With their 31st overall pick from the Bruins, the Canucks selected Koehn Ziemmer of the Prince George Cougars.
In the 2nd round, the Canucks selected Beau Akey 47th overall, Max Namestnikov 52nd, and Oren Shtrom 53rd.
They also got goaltender Scott Ratzlaff in the 3rd round (75), and goaltender Carson Bjarnason in the 4th round (116).
Rounding out their selectiions were Luca Cagnoni 110th overall and Joakin Timonen 180th overall.

HOGLANDER, BEAR RE-SIGN WITH CANUCKS
2023 RE-SIGN PHASE
Two young pieces key to the Canucks have signed new deals with the team, as RFA's Nils Hoglander and Ethan Bear both signed deals to stay for the foreeable future.
Trade deadline acquisitions and RFA's Ty Smith, Jakub Lauko and AJ Greer also signed new deals.
The Canucks also signed UFA goaltender Cam Talbot to a 2-year deal, and signed 1st overall pick Connor Bedard to his ELC.

CANUCKS SIGN 4 PLAYERS ON FIRST DAY OF FREE AGENCY
Free Agent Frenzy
GM Brant King did some fringe work around the Canucks in his first Free Agency period, signing young defensmen Erik Brannstrom and Dylan Coghlan, as well as forward Luke Glendening and goaltender Filip Gustavsson.
Brannstrom, 23, was drafted 15th overall by Vegas in 2015 and joins his 3rd NHL franchise after 4 split seasons between Ottawa and AHL Belleville followed by a full season in Ottawa last year.
Coghlan, also a former Knights prospect, joins Vancouver on a 1-year deal after making it into just 5 games last season with the Hurricanes.
Glendening, a known PK specialist and veteran, will shore up the Canucks 4th line and PK units.
Gustavsson was left unqualified as an RFA by the Senators following their acquisition of Demko at the Draft from Vancouver. The 25-year old is a former 2nd rounder of the Penguins who has now been with Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Ottawa in his career.

VANCOUVER, ST. LOUIS SWAP OEL AND SAAD
NHL Offseason
It cost the Vancouver Canucks their 2025 2nd round pick and OEL needed to move his NMC, but the maligned defenseman, the twilight acquisition of the Jim Benning era, has a new home in St. Louis.
Coming to Vancouver is Brandon Saad. The veteran of 792 career games saw his play fall off a cliff last season, as he registered just 15 goals in 82 games, his lowest full season total of his career.
Its not clear where Saad fits in the lineup, but the cost of getting rid of a bad contract is often taking one back.

TALBOT EARNS WIN IN FIRST GAME WITH CANUCKS
Oct. 15th, 2023
Despite Filip Gustavsson earning the season-opening start after a strong preseason performance, it was Cam Talbot who helped the Canucks earn their 1st win of the season after the dropped their first game to St. Louis 2-1.
This one, against the Devils, finished 3-1 in favor of Vancouver off of 28 Talbot (1st star) saves and a strong game from the 4th line in which Jakub Lauko earned 2nd star with a goal and an assist.
The Canucks are now 1-1-0 to start the season.

images

BEDARD SCORES FIRST 2 CAREER NHL GOALS IN WIN OVER SENS
Oct. 25th, 2023
Connor Bedard scored goals 1 and 2 of what is sure to be quite the career in a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators.
After failing to score a goal through his first 5 games, the 18-year old phenom scored twice and earned 1st star, while linemate JT Miller scored and added 2 assists for 2nd star.
Filip Gustavsson stopped 33 of 36 (.917 SV%) for his first win with Vancouver.
The Canucks are 3-3-0 in this young season, a vast improvement over last seasons start.

images

SAAD'S PAIR LIFTS NUCKS OVER KNIGHTS
Oct. 31st, 2023
In an offensive explosion, the Canucks downed the Golden Knights 8-3 on Halloween.
Brandon Saad scored twice, and is now up to 6 goals this season, already nearing half of last seasons goal total of 15.
Elias Pettersson and Andrei Kuzmenko each had 3 assists while the other goals came from Hughes (2), Podkolzin, Mikheyev, Miller and Hoglander.
Gustavsson made 22 saves in the win as the Canucks improved their record to 5-4-0 with their 3rd straight win.

DEPLETED CANUCKS PREVAIL OVER AVS
Nov. 16th, 2023
Despite missing Pettersson (LBI), Hoglander (UBI) and Greer (UBI) to injuries, the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Avalanche 3-2.
Called up to the NHL were Curtis Lazar and Colin Blackwell, while Miller was elevated from Bedards wing to 1C and Saad was elevated from the 3rd line to the 1RW.
Miller and Saad each finished with 1 goal and 1 assist, while Cam Talbot made 23 saves for the win.
Vancouver, now 8-6-1, sits 3rd in the Pacific Division. They will need to power through this stretch as Hoglander is out another week or two while Pettersson isn't due back until mid-December.

PETTERSSON SCORES TWICE IN RETURN, CANUCKS WIN
Dec. 13th, 2023
Elias Pettersson scored twice in his return to the Canucks lineup, while Connor Bedard scored the other goal in a 3-0 shutout win of the Seattle Kraken.
Filip Gustavsson stopped all 17 shots sent his way.
The Canucks are now 14-12-1 after having gone 6-6-0 without EP40. That is good enough for a tie for 3rd place in the Pacific with the Flames. The Canucks have 3 games in hand and play the Flames tomorrow night.

CANUCKS CLOSE OUT IMPRESSIVE FIRST HALF WITH WIN OVER WILD
Jan. 11th, 2024
The Canucks have now played 41 games and are at the exact midpoint of their season.
The 41st, a thrilling 6-4 win over the Minnesota Wild extended their point streak to 7 games (5-0-2) to close out the first half.
Kuzmenko, Hughes, Pettersson, Miller, Bedard and Greer each scored in this one.
The Canucks are now 22-16-3, and are sitting 2nd in the Pacific Division. They trail the Oilers (24-16-2) by 3 points, and lead the Ducks (21-18-3) by 2 points. They have a game in hand on each team.

CONCLUSION OF 2023-2024 NHL SEASON

images

TALBOT CONTINUES TO IMPRESS, SHUTS OUT SHARKS
Jan 14th, 2024
Despite seemingly having lost the starting job he was acquired to fill after the preseason, Cam Talbot has managed to persevere and the Canucks are better for it.
Tonight, he made 30 saves for his 2nd shutout of the season. He improves to 15-11-2 with a .914 SV% on the season. The 3-0 win extended the Canucks point streak to 9 games (6-0-3).
Ilya Mikheyev, Brandon Saad and Andrei Kuzmenko scored the goals in this one for Vancouver who is now 23-16-4 (2nd Pacific).

images

BEDARD HATTRICK LIFTS CANUCKS OVER KRAKEN
Jan 19th, 2024
Connor Bedard registered his first career hattrick in a 5-4 shootout win over the Seattle Kraken tonight.
The goals brought Bedards season total to 18 goals and 30 points in 45 games this season. His 18 goals pace all NHL rookies by 9 (Seattle rookie Shane Wright is 2nd with 9) and his 30 points are 2nd to Wright (32).
The Canucks (24-17-4) also got a goal from AJ Greer, while Cam Talbot stopped 27 (.871 SV%) for the win.

images

CANUCKS FALL OUT OF PLAYOFFS FOR FIRST TIME ALL SEASON
Feb. 19th, 2024
The last month has not been kind to the jumpstart Canucks.
After occupying 2nd place in the Pacific for much of the season, a 2-7-1 L10 stretch culminating in a Pettersson-Bedard-Miller line being shutout by the Columbus Blue Jackets has the Canucks on the outside looking in nearing the Trade Deadline.
While Vancouver was on of the NHL's best early storylines, they are now a Cinderella story ended early. Vasili Podkolzin has found himself on the 4th line, Brandon Saad has been forced to centre ice as the Canucks 3 top 6 centremen (Pettersson, Bedard, Miller) all saw time on the same line.
Now 27-24-6 with exactly 5 games in 2 weeks to the deadline, the Canucks may find themselves as surprise sellers.

images

PETTERSSON OUT INDEFINITELY WITH CONCUSSION
March 1st, 2024
In their 2nd to last game before the Trade Deadline, the Canucks lost Elias Pettersson to a concussion. This is the second time this season Vancouver will spend an extended period of time without their assistant captain and #1 centre.
Despite a 3-1-0 record in the 4 games since their rough patch, losing Pettersson for any amount of time while in the midst of a push for the Playoffs is a debilitating blow.
Vancouver (30-25-6, 3rd Pacific), has just a 1 point cushion the Sharks (5th Pacific) as spots 2 through 5 in the Pacific sit just 2 points apart.

CANUCKS, BRUINS, SHOCK NHL WITH DEADLINE BLOCKBUSTER
Trade Deadline
JT Miller's time as a Vancouver Canuck has come to an end. After reports GMBK tried to move him this offseason prior to his extension and NMC kicking in, it was only a matter of time before Miller and the Canucks found a way to end this marriage as it was clear it was no longer a happy one.
The Bruins, without Bergeron and Krejci, have managed to stay atop the NHL with a 47-18-3 record after their run to the Stanley Cup Finals last season.
They now gain a new centreman (Miller can play all 3 forward positions) in JT Miller. They also acquire Filip Gustavsson from the Canucks and a conditional 2026 3rd round pick. If the Canucks make the 3rd round of the Playoffs this season or next and Swayman plays 50% of the Playoff games, the Canucks will surrender their 2026 1st round pick.
Coming back to Vancouver is goaltender Jeremy Swayman, prospect Fabian Lysell and forward Zack Sanford.
Interestingly, Brant King neglected to move pending UFA Anthony Beauvillier, or struggling youngsters like Jack Rathbone and Vasili Podkolzin.

images

SWAYMAN IMPRESSES IN FIRST START AS CANUCK WITH 3-1 WIN
March 8th, 2024
The Canucks are in a dog fight to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, previously down Elias Pettersson and now down JT Miller, but they gained a goaltender, and he looks like he was worth the acquisition cost.
Stopping all but one shot sent his way, Swayman made 32 saves the 3-1 win, his first with the Canucks.
Vancouver got goals from Quinn Hughes, Andrei Kuzmenko and Curtis Lazar. Lazar, who was recalled after the Trade Deadline and in the lineup for Elias Pettersson.
The Nucks are now 1-0-0 post deadline, and 31-26-6 on the season.

images

HUGHES' 5 POINTS, BEDARDS PAIR LIFT NUCKS OVER SHARKS
March 13th, 2024
After dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the Sharks two nights ago on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, the Canucks top guns were determined to get revenge.
Quinn Hughes scored and added 4 assists for a 5 point night, while Connor Bedard scored twice to power Vancouver to a 5-2 victory.
Curtis Lazar had a goal and an assist, while Ethan Bear also scored. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 of 29 (.931 SV%) for his 2nd win with the club.

images

CANUCKS WIN 6-5 SHOOTOUT THRILLER OVER KINGS
March 17th, 2024
In what was a relatively uninspiring effort through 40 minutes for Vancouver, down 2-1, it got entertaining fast.
That happens when two teams combine for 9 goals in a 3rd period to send the game to overtime knotted at 5.
The Canucks would prevail in the shootout to gain a crucial extra point in their playoff quest.
Connor Bedard scored twice (2-1--3), while Quinn Hughes had a goal and 3 points.
Luke Glendening and Jakub Lauko also scored for the Canucks, while Jeremy Swayman went 35/40 (.875 SV%) for the win.
Vancouver now sits 6th in the Pacific with 73 points, just 3 points out of 2nd place and only 1 out of the 2WC playoff position.

SAAD HATTRICK EARNS CANUCKS CRUCIAL WIN OVER PREDS
April 7th, 2024
On the outside of the playoffs looking in with just 6 games to go, Brandon Saad ensured he would do his part to help the Canucks get the edge.
In a 6-1 rout of the Nashville Predators, Saad, acquired this offseason as St. Louis' cap dump part of the OEL deal, recorded a hattrick to bring his season total to 24 goals after just 15 last year.
Connor Bedard also scored in this one, his 29th of his rookie season. Jakub Lauko and Curtis Lazar also scored. Elias Pettersson was held of the scoresheet and now has just 1 goal and 1 assist in 5 games since his return.
Swayman made 18 saves for the win.
images

CANUCKS SUFFER CRITICAL LOSS TO SHARKS IN GAME 80
April 12th, 2024
While the Canucks were only occupying the 2WC position over the Sharks due to a tiebreaker as the teams were tied in points, that is no longer the case.
Following a 4-3 shootout loss with their direct competition for the final playoff spot, the Canucks have no put themselves outside the playoffs and at a 1 point disadvantage with just 2 games remaining in the season.
They held a 3-1 lead after the 1st and a 3-2 lead heading into the 3rd off of goals from Vasili Podkolzin, Erik Brannstrom and Elias Pettersson.

images

CANUCKS DOWN KINGS 5-3 IN GAME 82 TO SQUEAK INTO PLAYOFFS AS 2WC
April 15th, 2024
By the narrowed of margins, the Canucks defeated the Kings 5-3 off a Connor Bedard EN goal to leapfrog the Sharks by 1 point and earn a Playoff berth as the 2nd WC.
The ENG was Bedards 31st of his rookie season, by all accounts a beaming success for the 1st overall phenom.
Swayman was tested often in this one, but held off the Kings with 28 saves for the win. The 25-year old netminder went 8-3-3 with Vancouver post deadline.

images

1ST ROUND VS ARIZONA COYOTES
2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs
The Arizona Coyotes shocked the NHL this season, being crowned the 1st seed in the Western Conference with 102 points, good for 5th overall in the entire NHL.
They were led by Clayton Keller, who had 81 points off of 57 assists in 82 games. They were undoubtedly aided by being the surprise winner of the Patrice Bergeron sweepstakes in Free Agency, convincing him to join their club instead of retiring or returning to the Bruins. His leadership and 31 goals set the Coyotes ahead years in the trajectory.
That said, perhaps the biggest contributor to their success was Karel Vejmelka. By providing the Coyotes with a .912 SV% and 43 wins in his 73 games, the netminder stabilized a position that has been in flux since Mike Smith departed the club.

CANUCKS SWAP MIKHEYEV FOR SUTER IN 4 PLAYER DRAFT DAY DEAL
2024 NHL Entry Draft
Welcome to Vancouver Ryan Suter and Antonio Stranges. Thank you for your service to Vancouver Iyla Mikheyev and Dylan Coghlan.
After spending all of the season on the 3rd line, Ilya Mikheyev requested a trade from the Vancouver Canucks, and GM Brant King made the most of that, acquiring a veteran defensive defender that was much needed on the Canucks blue line in Ryan Suter.

images

VANCOUVER SENDS RATHBONE TO SABRES FOR KREBS, 5TH ROUND PICK
2024 NHL Entry Draft
Perhaps the writing was on the wall for Jack Rathbone when Ryan Suter was acquired. Suter presumably takes over his 2nd pairing job, and provides more defense than Rathbones style does, which is surely a good thing for the Canucks.
After all, Rathbone was expected to run PP2, but after it faltered to open the season, Erik Brannstrom took it over and never looked back.
In Peyton Krebs, the Canucks get a Western Canadian boy who comes closer to home for a reset and a new chance to prove himself after spending the previous 2 seasons in the AHL with Rochester.

images

CANUCKS SELECT BERKLY CATTON 8TH OVERALL
2024 NHL Entry Draft
In possession of the New York Islanders 1st round pick this season because it was in the top 12 of last seasons Draft, the Canucks lucked into an 8th overall pick despite being a playoff team.
With that selection, they chose forward Berkly Catton of the Spokane Chiefs.
With their own pick, at 17th overall, the Canucks selected centreman Phil Eberle of Kalpa in the Finnish Elite league.
The Canucks have now made 5 1st round selections in the 2 Drafts since GM Brant King took helm.

PETTERSSON NAMED CAPTAIN AS SWEDE RE-SIGN WITH CANUCKS AHEAD OF FREE AGENCY
2024 NHL Offseason
The only two major UFA or RFA pieces for the Canucks have re-signed.
Elias Pettersson, the cornerstone forward, will stay in Vancouver for 8 more years and be paid handsomely for doing so with an $11.850M AAV. Announced with the extension was that he will take over as captain, a role that has been vacant since bo Horvats departure a season and a half ago.
Quinn Hughes will retain his A, while the other A will be determined at a later date.
Anthony Beauvillier, who posted his first career 40-point season with the Canucks last year, essentially extended his contract 2 more years with the same $4.150M AAV.
Luke Glendening did not re-sign as a pending UFA, while Jack Studnicka has been qualified as a RFA.

BERGERON, JOHNSON JOIN CANUCKS VIA FREE AGENCY
2024 Free Agent Frenzy
Everything about it seems wrong, and it will take Canuck fans time to get used to it, but for this season, they will see Patrice Bergeron in a Canucks jersey. The veteran forward has signed a 1-year deal worth $6.750M.
That feeling is there because, if you don't remember, the Canucks lost to Bergeron's Bruins in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.
Also joining Vancouver is another Stanley Cup Champion, defender Erik Johnson. After he chose the Panthers over the Canucks in Free Agency last offseason, the Canucks would not be denied a second time, getting their guy on a 1-year deal. The deal will pay Johnson $4.500M.

HOGLANDERS PAIR HELPS CANUCKS TO FIRST WIN OF SEASON
Oct. 18th, 2024
After a rough first 2 games, losing 5-4 and 5-1, the Canucks finally found an offensive spark and kept pucks out of their net too in a 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs.
Nils Hoglander scored twice, while Elias Pettersson had 3 assists. Jeremy Swayman started the game but left with an injury. Cam Talbot entered in relief for his first action of the season and turned aside 26 of 27 for the win.

CANUCKS STRUGGLE TO OPEN SEASON
Nov. 1st, 2024
Despite a 3-2 overtime win in their most recent game over the Arizona Coyotes, the Canucks still find themselves just 4-5-1 in their first 10 games of the 2024-2025 NHL Season.
They've lost goaltender Jeremy Swayman until late November with an MCL issue, so Colin Delia has been recalled and Cam Talbot will get a crucial stretch of games early in this season. The Canucks playoffs hopes could depend on it.
Connor Bedard has yet to score a goal after 31 last year, but he does have 8 assists through 10 games. He has formed a lethal trio on the top line with LW Elias Pettersson, who has 10 points (2 goals) in 10 games and rookie Aatu Raty, who has 3 goals and 3 assists already.
Patrice Bergeron leads the team in goals (8) and points (11) in a strong start to his first season with the Canucks.

BEDARDS FIRST TWO GOALS OF SEASON HELP NUCKS OUTLAST HAWKS
Nov. 8th, 2024
It took until his 12th game, but Connor Bedard finally scored his first goal of his sophomore season, and added another crucial one for good measure.
Playing against the Western Conference leading Hawks, Bedard opened the scoring and scored the 5th goal as well in a 5-4 win.
Up 4-1 heading into the 3rd period, Vancouver allowed Chicago to battle back into the game with 2 goals before Bedard re-established a 2 goal lead even though Chicago would add one more.
The win lifts the Canucks record to 6-6-1, still good enough for 3rd in the Pacific Division at this point.

CANUCKS RELIEVE HEAD COACH TOCCHET OF DUTIES, PROMOTE ASST. COACH MOROZ
Nov. 27th, 2024
Following a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars, leaving the Canucks record at 7-11-3 following a 1-5-2 run, the Canucks President of Hockey Ops and Gm Brant King announced he relieved head coach Rick Tocchet of his duties.
Promoted on an interim basis is assistant coach John Moroz, while defensive coach Tony McQuaid remains with the team as well.
AHL head coach Troy Cammalleri will occupy the 3rd spot on the bench for the forseeable games until a final decision is made on the 3rd coaching position.

CANUCKS NO CLOSER TO PLAYOFFS 1 MONTH AFTER COACHING CHANGE
Dec. 27th, 2024
Nearing the halfway point of the season, and having had a full month since the coaching change, the Canucks find themselves further from the playoff picture than they started.
Now with a record of 13-18-4 after a 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals in their first game back after the Holiday Break, Vancouver is 6th in the Pacific and 5 points out of 3rd place. In terms of WC positioning, they find themselves 8 points out of both wild cards, occupied by stronger Central Division teams.
It's a shocking turn of events for a team that was expected to take a step forward after returning to the Playoffs last season and signing Cup pedigree veterans Patrice Bergeron and Erik Johnson this offseason.

CANUCKS SEASON HITS LOW POINT WITH 9-2 LOSS TO DEVILS
Jan. 27th, 2025
Just when it seemed the Canucks had possibly turned a corner and strung together 3 wins for the first time since the first month of the season, it all came to a crashing halt.
Their most embarrassing loss of the season stopped all momentum they had, after being outscored 4-1 in the first period, they continued to let the game spiral out of control with a 7-2 deficit after 2 and a 9-2 final.
The Canucks now sit 19-25-4, 7 points out of the Playoffs over halfway through the season.
Their 42 points are 3 away from last in the NHL.

CANUCKS ANNOUNCE AHMAD SEXTON AS NEW HC, MOROZ RETURNS TO ASST.
Feb. 7th, 2025
GM Brant King has made his first official HC hire for the Canucks, so now one could say the clock ticks on the Pres. of Hockey Ops and GM's tenure. A directive from ownership to have no HC change after the debacle of the previous regime changed after the Canucks struggled through the first 2 months of the season, and after John Moroz weathered the storm for a month, GM Brant King found his guy.
Sexton, 49, signed a 5-year deal with the Canucks. Both Moroz and McQuaid are on expiring deals so Sexton will get a chance to see if he wants to retain either for his staff or have his own hires.
The Canucks sit 20-25-4, 6th in the Pacific, a long shot for the Playoffs, and potential deadline sellers.
Sexton's job is not an easy one for the remainder of this season.

CANUCKS ROUT FLYERS IN SEXTONS COACHING DEBUT
Feb. 9th, 2025
Ahmad Sextons debut could not have gone any better.
After jumping out to a 4-1 lead after the first, the Canucks remained focused and determined to win and closed out a strong game 8-2 over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Patrice Bergeron, forming a new 3rd line with Andrei Kuzmenko and Aatu Raty, exploded for 5 points (2 goals), while Kuzmenko had 4 points (2 goals) and Raty had a goal and an assist.
Cam Talbot stopped 27 of 29 for the win.

CANUCKS DEFEAT OILERS 3-1, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 6 WITH SEXTON AS HC
Feb. 17th, 2025
The Canucks, now 6-0-0 under Sexton, have improved their record to 26-25-4, and have climbed all the way back into 3rd in the Pacific Division.
At the time of his hire, Sexton's Canucks were closer to 32nd (3 points), than they were to the Playoffs (7 points). They now find themselves back in the thick of the battle for the 3rd seed in their division.
This win comes on the 2nd night of a back-to-back after they defeated the Winnipeg Jets 7-2 on the first night.
Peyton Krebs scored twice (2nd star), Nils Hoglander had 2 assists (3rd star) and Cam Talbot stopped 39/40 in the 3-1 win (1st star).

CANUCKS BEAT KRAKEN 3 TIMES IN WEEK AS TEAM IMPROVES TO 9-1-0 UNDER SEXTON
Feb. 28th, 2024
Following a 5-3 win, powered by 4 point nights from both Connor Bedard and Elias Pettersson (2 goals, 2 assists each), the Vancouver Canucks have beaten the Kraken 3 times this past week by a combined score of 20-8. 8-2. 7-3. 5-3.
Their lone loss of the "Sexton Era" was 6-1 to former goaltender Thatcher Demko and the Ottawa Senators.
9-1-0 is now their record in 10 games under the new coaching regime. Connor Bedard seems reinvigorated, now with 56 points in 59 games after starting slow.
The 29-26-4 Canucks have 3 games in hand on the Golden Knights, who trail them by 2 points for the 3rd seed in pacific. They trail the Ducks by 6 points for 2nd with one game in hand, and if you're a Canucks player or fan, you have to believe anything can happen moving forward.

VANCOUVER ADDS BACKLUND, TANEV FROM CALGARY AT DEADLINE
Trade Deadline
In an interdivisional trade between rivals, Calgary (27-31-6) traded Mikael Backlund and Chris Tanev to the Vancouver Canucks for a '26 2nd round pick.
This now means, that while they would get their 3rd round pick back, if Vancouver makes a run to the WCF in either of the next 2 years, they would forfeit their '26 1st rounder to the Bruins and be without a 1st and 2nd round pick next year.
They also sent Brandon Saad to the Chicago Blackhawks for prospect Colton Dach.
Vancouver also claimed Grigori Denisenko off waivers from Florida.

BEDARD KEEPS PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE WITH 2 GOALS IN WIN OVER OILERS
April 9th, 2025
The Post Deadline Vancouver Canucks lost something on the pre-Deadline Canucks.
Perhaps it was adding Backlund and Tanev to a team that was rolling, but those are depth players at this point, not huge surgery to a team. No one can blame GMBK for adding reinforcements to a team that was trending in the right direction and cannot afford to waste potential Playoff opportunities with Bedard on his ELC.
A 6-0 win over the Oilers in which Bedard scored twice and added an assist, as did Patrice Bergeron, brought the Canucks (80 points) within one point of the Golden Knights (81 points) with just 2 games remaining for each team.
If the Knights win both, well, its goodnight on the Canucks season. But if the Canucks can win each of their final 2 games against the Kings and Ducks and the Knights lose just one, the Canucks have punched their ticket to the postseason for the 2nd consecutive year.

CANUCKS B2B WINS CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT FOR 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR
April 12th, 2025
With their backs against the wall and needing to win out (and get some help from one of the VGK opponents), the Canucks prevailed.
Just like when their season was on the brink at 20-25-3 after a coaching change and a month of interim coaching, when they rattled off a 9-1-0 stretch that turned their season around to get to this point, the Canucks dug deep when it mattered most again.
After a gutsy 5-4 shootout win that saw the Canucks vanquish a 4-2 lead in the 3rd period and put their season on the brink (would've needed 2 VGK regulation losses as VGK owned tiebreaker over Canucks), paired with VGK losing G81 for them in regulation, the Canucks leapfrogged them into the 3rd Pacific seed and officially controlled their own destiny.
It all came down to a matchup against the 2nd seed of the Pacific Ducks. It was simple: Canucks win, they're in, and play the Ducks R1.
Both teams started their backup goaltenders in the final game of the season, and the Canucks prevailed 6-4 in the high scoring affair.
Trade deadline acquisition Chris Tanev opened the scoring, showing he was ready to prove he was worth the trade. Beauvillier (1-1--2), Bedard (1-1--2) and Bergeron (1-1--2) followed that up with goals in the 2nd period to give the Canucks a 4-3 lead heading into the 3rd.
Captain Elias Pettersson would take it from there, scoring twice, including an empty netter, in the third period to cap off a 4-point night, and a Canucks Playoff-clinching win.

It is quite fortunate the Canucks preside in the Pacific Division, or else they would be in line for a borderline top 10 pick once again. The fact that the 21st team in the NHL has made the Playoffs while teams 16-20 are out speaks to problems within the NHL, but thats beyond Vancouvers control and they will not complain about them.
What Vancouver will complain about is a GAPG that is equal to their GFPG, a glaring cause for concern when you have a legitimate starting goaltender. It is clear Vancouver lacks a top 4 defenseman, but they could not find a true one at the Deadline and settled for Tanev.
Tanev was alright, but Mikael Backlund never fit the way he was expected to on a shutdown line with Patrice Bergeron and Anthony Beauvillier.
Patrice Bergeron posted his 2nd straight 30-goal season, and at 39 years old playing the majority of his minutes in the 2nd half on the 3rd line, that is simply sensational.
Connor Bedard and Elias Pettersson had the best seasons of their careers to date, and the sky is the limit for Vancouvers version of McDavid/Draisaitl or Crosby/Malkin or Matthews/Tavares.
Aatu Raty had a great rookie season, leading rookies in goals with 20 and finishing 2nd in points (43) to only Leo Carlsson (52).

2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

images

The Canucks defeated these very Ducks, albeit with each teams backup goaltender playing, on the final day of the Regular Season to clinch a Playoff berth. Message sent.
That said, this will be a tall task. The Ducks finished 9th in the league with 94 points to the Canucks 21st place finish with 85.
The Ducks boast a potent offense led by Mason McTavish, Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras, which finished 10th in the league with 3.09 GFPG. They limited teams to 2.94 GAPG, good for a .15 difference. The Canucks difference? 0, which 3 GF and 2 GA exactly per game.
If the Canucks can keep the puck out of their net, their offense may be able to outduel the Ducks. That depends on the defense and Jeremy Swayman.

After narrowly escaping a 1st round series against Anaheim that went to overtime in Game 7, the Vancouver Canucks now face an even steeper climb against McDavid, Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers, who ousted Minnesota in Game 7 of the 1st round as well, finished 1st in the Pacific and 4th in the entire NHL with 103 points. Thats nearly 20 more than the Canucks, although if you translate their 20-12-2 under Sexton to a full season they'd have finished with 101 points. So, that's on the optimistic side.
On the pessimistic side, the Canucks have turned to their backup Cam Talbot who after 3 strong games had a .815 SV% in Game 7, and they face off against one of the most potent offenses in the league led by McDavid (114 points) and Draisaitl (90 points).

The Canucks have defied all odds ever since Ahmad Sexton took over as head coach. From clawing their way back from 3 points away from last place in the NHL, to winning both of their last 2 games to get into to playoffs, to a pair of Game 7 OT wins in the first 2 rounds.
They will need to do so again in their tallest task yet, against the 110 point Avalanche, the first seed in the Western Conference and Presidents' Trophy Winners.
The Avalanche will be hungry to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, a place they have not been since they won it all in 2022.
Canucks resilience will need to power through here, as the Avs allowed a league low 2.45 GAPG. That will mean the Canucks offense will either have to buck the trend, or their defense will need to tighten up and go toe-to-toe with the Avs.

One of the Hughes brothers will win their first Stanley Cup, while the other will suffer the most excruciating loss of his career.
The Canucks cinderalla run in which they've knocked off a Ducks team that was no rollover, the 1st in Pacific Oilers and the 1st in NHL Avs now faces a test of the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils finished with 104 points, 2nd in the Eastern Conference to only the Boston Bruins, whom they knocked out in the Eastern Conference Finals. That series ended in 6 games as well.
The Devils are led by their big 4, with Hischier, Bratt, Hughes and Hamilton all scoring over 70 points. That was topped by Nico Hischiers 93 points. They also had a league leading 17 players score over 20 points. For anyone wondering, you only regularly dress 18 players.
Vancouver will need to contain the Devils potent offense and survive until captain Elias Pettersson can return in either game 3 or 4. Its do or die, on the biggest scale now:

After a cinderella run under midseason hire Ahmad Sexton, the Canucks saw it come to a close without the storybook ending in a sweep at the hands of the New Jersey Devils.
Although 2 out of the 4 games were without Elias Pettersson, it is still a disappointing end to the season for the Canucks, who really seemed like they could defy the odds one more time en route to Vancouver's first Stanley Cup.
Thats not 2 finals (2011, 2025) and 2 losses.
Peyton Krebs, acquired for Jack Rathbone from Buffalo, was fantastic playing a role in the top 6 when Kuzmenko went down and posted 21 points (8 goals) in 24 playoff games.
Connor Bedard scored 9 and had 20 points in 24 games.
Patrice Bergeron appeared in his 2nd Cup Finals in 3 years (2023 Boston), both losses. He scored a team leading 11 goals.
Quinn Hughes had 18 points, all assists in the run.
Elias Pettersson had 17 points in his 19 games.
The Canucks forfeit their 1st rounder in 2026 to the Bruins as the condition was met on the Swayman trade, despite Swayman losing the job in round 1, he still played 50% of the games through the Conference Finals. Vancouver gets their 3rd rounder back. Swayman finished 7-8 with a .889 SV% while Talbot finished 5-4 with a .903 SV%.
RE-SIGN PHASE

images

GM Brant King, recently signed to a 4-year extension after being deemed a success by Vancouver Canucks ownership, is not taking any half measures with his club.
He immediately made a big bet, getting Aatu Raty signed to an 8-year contract worth $48M, making a big bet that the forward will build off his rookie season.
Patrice Bergeron was brought back on a 1-year pact.
Peyton Krebs, one of King's better lowkey acquisitions, also signed a new contract as an RFA.
Draft pick Oren Shtrom, Phil Eberle Koehn Ziemmer, Max Namestnikov, Scott Ratzlaff and Carson Bjarnason also joined the organization on ELC's.

CANUCKS SOLIDY BLUELINE VIA FREE AGENCY
Free Agent Frenzy
Canucks GM Brant King did not hold back when evaluating his team in his End of Season Press Conference.

"Despite a run to the Cup Finals that we are very proud of, it is clear there is a lot of work to be done defensively before we are true Cup Contenders. And that is not meant as a slight to the job Ahmad did once he took over, or to our players that played very hard and gave it there all. But we need to be much better on the defensive side and end of the puck"

Certainly some harsh words, and he made sure there was some bark to his bite. He handed out big money deals to veteran defenders Esa Lindell and Adam Larsson, while he also decided to bring back Erik Johnson after allowing the veteran to test Free Agency.
In addition, King signed depth defensive option Vladislav Kolyachonok and backup goaltender Ivan Prosvetov both UFA's from the Arizona Coyotes.

In the continued effort to reshape his blueline, GM Brant King cut ties with former high 2019 Draft Pick Vasily Podkodzin, and sent him to the San Jose Sharks for RFA defender Artmei Kniazev. Knizev signed a 2 year, $4.0M dollar contract with the Canucks immeidately after the trade.

Ty Smith, who found himself scratched at times down the stretch and in the postseason after the acquisition of Chris Tanev, who departed via Free Agency, was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for Nikita Alexandrov. Alexandrov, a former 2nd round pick of the Blues, has 2 years remaining on his current deal paying him just over 900K. He figures to be in the mix for the 4th line job open by the vacated Vasily Podkolzin.

Fabian Lysell, acquired in the JT Miller trade that brought Jeremy Swayman to Vancouver, has made the opening night roster.
The 22-year old 1st round pick from 2021 will start on the RW of the 3rd line with Peyton Krebs and Anthony Beauvillier.
Aatu Raty will start at 1RW playing with Bedard and Pettersson, giving the Canucks a bonafide 1st line.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is Grigori Denisenko winning a top 6 wing spot on the LW of Patrice Bergeron and Nils Hoglander.
AJ Greer and Jakub Lauko return on the 4th line, with Linus Karlsson set to make his NHL debut on their right.
There were no surprises on the backend, with the 3 new additions via Free Agency (Lindell, Larsson and Kniazev) joining Brannstrom, Johnson and Hughes as the 6 starters. Free Agent singing Kolyachonok is the 7th D.
Jeremy Swayman returns, but will be counted on much more with Prosvetov replacing the more experienced Talbot. It's a risk, as Swayman hasn't been great yet with the Canucks, but GMBK was willing to bet Swayman would be able to find his game with the best D core he's had front of him to date in Vancouver.

Oct. 17th, 2025
Aatu Raty scored twice, as did Jakub Lauko in a 5-3 win over the Seattle Kraken in the Canucks season and home opener.
Connor Bedard scored the other goal for Vancouver, while Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 of 28 for the win.
Linus Karlsson also had 2 assists in his first career NHL game.

SWAYMANS 30 SAVES LIFT NUCKS OVER BLUES IN FIRST GAME WITHOUT PETTERSSON
Oct. 25th, 2025
Forgive me if you've heard this before, but Elias Pettersson will miss about a month with a concussion.
The Canucks will miss their captain, but the will trek on without him in the early goings of this season, trying not to put themselves in a hole like they did last season.
Swayman made 30 saves in this win as the Canucks defeated the Blues 3-2 in a shootout.
Beauvillier and Bergeron scored the goals for the Canucks, who are now 2-2-0 on the season.

BEDARD, CANUCKS EXPLODE IN 3RD PERIOD TO ROUT HAWKS 8-2
Oct. 28th, 2025
It was a 2-1 game heading into the 3rd period.
These teams had just played two nights ago, with the Canucks defeated the Hawks 5-2 on the 2nd night of a back-to-back (3-2 SO over Blues).
Connor Bedard had a 3rd period hattrick, while the Canucks scored 6 3rd period goals en route to the 8-2 victory.
Fabian Lysell and Linus Karlsson each scored their first career NHL goals, while Peyton Krebs and Erik Johnson each had 2 assists.
Also scoring for Vancouver was Raty, Brannstrom, Lauko and Denisenko.
Swayman went 33/35 for the win, his 4th of the season.
The Canucks are now 4-2-0 and on a 3 game winning streak without captain Elias Pettersson.

COLTON DACH SCORES IN NHL DEBUT, CANUCKS WIN
Nov. 8th, 2025
Called up from the AHL following an injury to Grigori Denisenko that will see him miss 3-4 games, Colton Dach (acquired in Brandon Saad deadline trade), scored his first career NHL goal en route to a Canucks 5-2 win over the Flyers.
Patrice Bergeron scored twice, Quinn Hughes had 3 assists and Nilas Hoglander had 2 helpers in the win.
The Canucks other two goals came from Jakub Lauko and Peyton Krebs.
Jeremy Swayman made 21 saves (.913 SV%) for the win.
The Canucks are now 7-3-1 on the season.

DENISENKO'S 3-PT NIGHT IN RETURN LEADS CANUCKS IN 6-5 OT VICTORY
Nov. 20th, 2025
The Vancouver Canucks got Grigori Denisenko back for tonights game against the New jersey Devils, and they should be thankful they did.
After jumping out to a 4-1 first period lead, the Canucks vanquished that allowing 4 straight goals in the 2nd frame to find themselves down 5-4.
Luckily, Denisenko scored the tying 5-5 goal midway through the 3rd, and assisted on Quinn Hughes 1st goal of the season, the OT winner.
Denisenko finished with 3 points (1-2--3), while his centreman Patrice Bergeron had 3 assists.
Connor Bedard, Hughes and Hoglander each had a goal and an assist.
Ivan Prosvetov earned his first win of the season in relief of Swayman, who was pulled after 40 minutes.
The Canucks are now 11-4-1, only good enough for 3rd in a strengthened Pacific Diviision. Calgary is 1st win 26 points and Edmonton is 2nd with 25.

HUGHES 3 ASSISTS, PROSVETOVS 26 SAVES DOWN DALLAS 4-1
Nov. 24th, 2025
As the Canucks patiently wait for Petterssons return this week, they continue to pile up wins in his absense.
Quinn Hughes, producing his THIRD 3 assist game just a month into the season, along with Ivan Prosvetovs 26 saves led the Canucks over the Stars for their 5th straight win. Vancouver is 8-2-0 in its L10.
Patrice Bergeron (1-1--2), Anthony Beauvillier, Fabian Lysell and Connor Bedard (all 1-0--1) scored for the Canucks.

images

ALEXANDROV SCORES 1ST NHL GOAL IN CANUCKS 6TH STRAIGHT WIN
Nov. 27th, 2025
Alexandrov stepped into the lineup following a minor injury to Aatu Raty that will keep him out for a week, and he made the most of his 2nd opportunity at the lineup.
Following Colton Dach's impressive debut, coach Sexton decided to leave Dach in the lineup over Alexandrov when Grigori Denisenko returned. That being said, Dach has been relatively quiet since while playing 1st line minutes with Connor Bedard, and Alexandrov had come back with a vengeance.
In this 4-1 win over the Red Wings, it was Alexandrov who gave them the 2-1 lead they would not vanquish late in the 1st period.
Nils Hoglander, Patrice Bergeron and Erik Johnson also scored for the Canucks.
Vladislav Kolyachonok has played 3 straight games since an injury to Adam Larsson, logging an average of 21:45 on Hughes' right while being a +1.
Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 of 26 for the win, his 12th of the season.
The Canucks are now 14-4-1, their 29 points good for 3rd in the Pacific, and 4th in the entire NHL.

2025-2026 NHL Season (cont.)

LYSELL COMES UP CLUTCH FOR SLUMPING CANUCKS
Dec. 12th, 2025
Things have not gone smoothly for the Canucks since Petterssons return to the lineup.
In a crucial stretch against Pacific Division teams, the Canucks went 0-3-1, with the sole point coming in a 3-2 SO loss to Vegas.
They lost 2-0 to LA, 4-3 to Edmonton and 3-2 to San Jose.
Tonight, against St. Louis, Fabian Lysell ensured they would snap the skid. The rookie scored twice for the Canucks in their 3-1 win.
Jeremy Swayman has continued to stuggle to the tune of a .903 on the season, but tonight he was critical, stopping 34/35 (.971 SV%).
Vancouver (15-8-2) has seen an 8 point lead on the 4th seeded in Pacific Vegas Golden Knights dwindle to 3 after this stretch. They now trail 1 and 2 seeded Edmonton and Calgary by 8 and 4 points.

images

CANUCKS DOWN LIGHTNING 7-3 OFF OF BEDARDS 4-POINT NIGHT
Dec. 19th, 2025
Connor Bedard put on his big boy pants against one of the top teams in the NHL as he starred in the Canucks 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in their 2nd to last game before the holiday freeze.
Scoring 2 goals and adding 2 assists, Bedard rightfully earned first star honors in the game. The 3rd year forward is now up to 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 28 games.
Patrice Bergeron also scored twice, while Aatu Raty had 3 points (1 goal) and Nikita Alexandrov had a goal and an assist.
Elias Pettersson had 3 assists, while Nils Hoglander had 2 assists.
Peyton Krebs also scored for the Canucks, while Swayman made 29 saves (.906 SV%) in the win, the Canucks 3rd straight.

images

BEDARD HATTRICK GETS CANUCKS BACK IN WIN COLUMN
Jan. 11th, 2026
All things considered, the Canucks have had an alright season to date. They are still allowing more goals than they'd like, not getting good enough goaltending, but they have strung together multiple winning streaks and just saw a 5 game point streak (2-0-3) come to an end with a 6-1 loss to Arizona.
That said, when you start a season as hot as they did, when the losses inevitably come, its easy to get fed up, frustrated and discouraged by them.
Bedard was not tonight, as he scored 3 goals to lead his Canucks over the Sens 7-4. Linemates Aatu Raty (1-2--3) and Elias Pettersson (0-3--3) also had 3 point nights.
AJ Greer, Peyton Krebs and Nikita Alexandrov also scored for Vancouver.
Swayman made 24 saves for the win (.857 SV%).

2023 1ST ROUNDER ALLEN MAKES NHL DEBUT IN 4-3 WIN OVER DUCKS
Jan. 20th, 2026
With Esa Lindell and Adam Larsson each out until mid. February, 2023 13th overall pick Cam Allen was recalled from the AHL to make his NHL debut.
The result was as good as you could expect from a 21-year old defenseman, logging 21:31 with Quinn Hughes and finishing even +/- with 2 shots.
Kolyachonok line up with Erik Johnson whle Kniazev stayed with Brannstrom on the 3rd pair. Brannstrom, while playing a key role on PP2 and producing offense, has been visibly bad defensively this season, with a team worst -10 rating. Kniazev, his partner for every game this season, is just -1.
Hoglander, Raty, Johnson and Beavillier scored in this one, while Swayman made 30 saves (.909 SV%) for the win.

images

BEDARD GETS TO 60 POINTS, CANUCKS EXTEND POINT STREAK DESPITE SO LOSS TO PENGUINS
Jan. 30th, 2026
Connor Bedard has taken his game to a whole new level this season. With a goal and an assist in this 5-4 shootout loss, he now has 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points in just 47 games.
The point acquired in this shootout loss, by the way, ends a 5 game winning streak for the Canucks, but extends a 9 game point streak to 10 games now, with the Canucks 8-0-2 in that stretch. The Canucks are 10-1-5 in their last 16 games after a 4-6-0 run.
Anthony Beauvillier, Elias Pettersson and Patrice Bergeron also scored for the Canucks.
Swayman made just 24 saves on 28 shots.

PETTERSSON 4 ASSIST NIGHT LIFTS CANUCKS OVER SENS ON HNIC
Feb. 5th, 2026
It was Hockey Night in Canada this Saturday, and the Canucks and Sens put on a show for the nation.
With the Canucks up 3-2 after 2 periods, the teams combined for 5 goals to send the game to OT tied a 5. It would require a shootout to decide, and the Canucks won that to take the game 6-5.
Elias Pettersson had 4 assists, Connor Bedard had 3 assists and Aatu Raty had 2 goals and 1 assist as the linemates combined for 9 points. They have been unstoppable this season.
Patrice Bergeron, tasked with keeping the 2nd forward unit accountable and ready to go following line 1's tantalizing shifts, recorded 2 goals.
Quinn Hughes scored and added an assist of his own for good measure.
Ivan Prosvetov recorded his 2nd win in relief of Swayman this season, who was pulled after allowing goals 3, 4 and 5 in 1:21. Prosvetov made 6 saves on 6 shots for the win.

images

PROSVETOV'S HEROICS SNAP CANUCKS SKID WITH 2-1 WIN OVER MONTREAL
Feb. 23rd, 2026
Without Jeremy Swayman and Anthony Beauviller until mid March after both suffered injuries in a 2-1 loss to Dallas, the Canucks have not had a win since.
That spanned 6 games, an 0-4-2 stretch, until tonight. The top line, who has been silenced during this stretch, each had 2 points in the win, scoring both goals for the Canucks. Its a stark reminder for Vancouver that when one line does all the scoring, and then stops, the wins stop too.
Bedard scored, as did Aatu Raty. They each added an assist as well, while Elias Pettersson had 2 assists.
Prosvetov, who cannot be blamed for this stretch, having yet to surrender more than 3 goals in any of the 5 games, earned 1st star with 29 saves and a .966 SV%.

images

PROSVETOV REBOUNDS FROM ROUGH STRETCH WITH STRONG GAME IN WIN OVER NASHVILLE
March 4th, 2026
In the ultimate jinx, after receiving the least of the blame for having not giving up over 3 goals, Prosvetov proceeded to give up 4 or more goals (4,6,6,6,4) in 5 consecutive games as the Canucks dropped to 1-7-2 in their last 10 leading up to the Trade Deadline.
They earned their first win in 5 games with the 2-1 win over Nashville in which Jakub Lauko and Grigori Denisenko, both on the 4th line, scored the goals.
The Canucks have fallen to 32-21-9, although they still hold on to 3rd in the Pacific with just 2 games remaining before the Trade Deadline.

CANUCKS ACQUIRE VETERANS CHIAROT, VORACEK AT DEADLINE
2026 NHL Trade Deadline
Without this years 1st and 2nd round pics to use, GM Brant King was limited to what he could do at the Deadline this offseason.
He used his 2027 2nd rounder and Nikita Alexandrov, who had officially lost his roster spot to Colton Dach, to acquire Jakub Voracek from the Vegas Golden Knights.
Then, he traded a 2026 7th rounder to the Detroit Red Wings for Ben Chiarot.
Voracek, 36, is a veteran of 1342 NHL games. Chiarot, 34, is a veteran of 777 NHL games. GMBK had a plan to add experience to his club, and added over 2000 games of it for 2nd and 7th round picks.
He also moved Erik Brannstrom to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 2nd round pick in this years draft and prospect Ty Voit.

VORACEK STARS WITH 2 ASSISTS IN DEBUT WIN WITH CANUCKS
March 11th, 2026
It did not take long for Jakub Voracek to acclimate himself to Vancouver and his new linemates.
The veteran forward immediately clicked, with he and Pettersson each having 2 assists on Connor Bedards 2 goal night.
The Canucks defeated the Coyotes 3-2 on the back of the 1st line and goaltender Prosvetovs 34 saves (.944 SV%)
Ben Chiarot was +1 in 13:21 in his debut. More nights like this will be exactly what the doctor ordered from him.
Peyton Krebs scored the Canucks other goal.

images

CANUCKS ROUT STARS THANKS TO VORACEKS 3 POINT NIGHT
March 13th, 2026
Jakub Voracek scored twice and added an assist to lead the Canucks over the Wild 8-3 in his 2nd game with the club.
The veteran forward now has 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 2 games with the club.
Nils Hoglander had himself a night to remember as well, with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Grigori Denisenko had 3 assists.
Vancouver also got goals from Connor Bedard, Quinn Hughes, Adam Larsson and Jakub Lauko.
Ivan Prosvetov made 24 saves for the win.

images

RATY SCORES ALL 3 CANUCK GOALS IN 3-2 WIN OVER KINGS
March 20th, 2026
Aatu Raty, tasked with being the man to leave the 1st line to help bolster the rest of the lineups scoring, is doing his job wonderfully.
The man who signed the big deal this offseason is paying the Canucks back kindly, this time with a hattrick to single handedly lift the team to a win in which no one else could score.
Nils Hoglander had 2 assists, while Ivan Prosvetov made 27 saves on 29 shots for s .931 SV% and the win.

images

SWAYMAN SENSATIONAL IN WIN IN RETURN FROM INJURY
March 22nd, 2026
Jeremy Swayman, having not played in a month and coming back to a Canucks 7-2-1 run where they finally found their footing in his absense, did not disappoint the team.
The goaltender made 41 saves on 43 shots (.953 SV%) as the team defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2.
Bedard, Krebs, Bergeron and Beauvillier scored the goals for the Canucks. Elias Pettersson had 2 assists.
Vancouver is now 39-22-10, and 8-1-1 in their L10. They have pulled into a tie in points with Edmonton for 2nd in the Pacific, settling for 3rd because the Oilers have a game in hand.

images

CANUCKS CLINCH PLAYOFFS WITH DOMINANT PERFORMANCE IN WIN OVER KNIGHTS
April 8th, 2026
It was 5-0 after the 1st period.
The Canucks knew they could clinch the Playoff tonight with a win, and they played like it. It was a 4-2 game the rest of the way, finishing 9-2 in favor of the Vancouver Canucks.
9 (NINE!) different players scored goals, including Bedard and Voracek (against the team that traded him here at Deadline).
Jakub Lauko and Nils Hoglander led the way with a goal and 2 assists each.
Ivan Prosvetov was busy in the game, still turning aside 31 shots for a .939 SV%.
With the Oilers opening up a 5 point lead on Vancouver for 2nd, and the Canucks having a 6 point lead on Vegas for 3rd, the Canucks only have their pride to play for heading into an almost certain date with Edmonton in round 1.

HUGHES, BEDARD, CANUCKS SEND MESSAGE WITH WIN OVER FLAMES IN GAME 81
April 16th, 2026
Its not often a team can have a season like the Canucks have had and finish 3rd in their division.
The fact is, the top 3 teams in the NHL ALL preside in the Pacific, and its Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver in that order.
Calgary has locked up the Presidents' Trophy, so they don't have a ton to play for, but then again the Canucks are locked into 3rd place so neither do they.
Either way, the Canucks sent a message to Calgary, Edmonton, and the entire NHL that they won't be the afterthought in this division with a 5-3 win over the Flames.
Connor Bedard scored 2 more goals yes, but it was Quinn Hughes with assists of 4 of 5 goals who was the star in this one.
Patric Bergron, Aatu Raty and Erik Johnson also scored for Vancouver, while Ivan Prosvetov made 28 saves on 31 shots (.903 SV%) for the win.
The Canucks end their season against Edmonton, a preview of Round 1.

images

SWAYMAN SHUTS OUT OILERS FOR WIN IN GAME 82, BEDARD INJURED
April 18th, 2026
Games 81 and 82 against Calgary and Edmonton, the only 2 teams above them in the standing. The Canucks won them both.
Following a 5-3 win over the 1st place Flames, Jeremy Swayman and his 23 save shutout defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-0.
Elias Pettersson had 2 goals and an assist, Aatu Raty scored and added an assist, and Connor Bedard also scored for Vancouver.
Bedard though, left the game with a sprained ankle, and is doubtful for the entire 1st round. It is a crushing blow for Vancouver to lose the guy who finished 2nd in the entire NHL with 98 points. 42 goals. Its the equivalent of Edmonton losing McDavid. But they didn't. It will be a grind and a team effort for Vancouver if they wish to overcome this and get Bedard back for Round 2.

2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs

While the Canucks come in with momentum on their side, having put forth a dominant effort to beat Edmonton 4-0 just 3 nights ago on the final day of the Regular season, the loss of Connor Bedard is undoubtedly a debilitating blow to the Canucks playoff odds and outlook.
Vancouver is the 3rd seed, starting on the road, but they come in having gone 14-2-2 post deadline to nearly pass Edmonton. If the season had 2 more games or an extra week, the belief is Vancouver could've made a run at Edmontons home ice advantage.
You can always play the what-if game, but theres no what-if about this: Connor Bedard is out atleast a week of this series, and Vancouver is in tough to survive that long without him.

The Canucks did their job in Round 1. McDavid and Draisaitl were each held to just 5 points in the 6 game series, and Vancouver lasted long enough in the series to get Connor Bedard back for the clinching Game 6.
Bedard factored in immediately, assisting on Aatu Ratys 2nd period powerplay goal to knot the game at 1 a piece.
They now face Calgary, the Presidents' Trophy winners and undisputed Western Conference favorite in Round 2.
Calgary is led by a deep offensive attack built around a Kadri-Lindholm-Johansen centregroup. That mix of scoring, experience and defensive reliability down the middle is hard to compete with, but Vancouver can come close with Bedard-Bergeron-Krebs.
Krebs, the teams leading scorer in last years playoff run with 21 points in 24 games, had 3 assists in 5 games while filling in for Connor Bedard on the top line.
Vancouver is led by Game 6 hero Aatu Raty, who has 4 goals and 8 points through 6 games. Quinn Hughes has also been spectacular with partner Adam Larsson, as they effectively shut down the McDavid/Draisaitl line while Quinn also posted 2 goals and 8 points.
Jeremy Swayman says he is fully healthy after it was clear by his Game 5 performance that he returned maybe a game too early from the injury that forced him out of Games 3 and 4. This may be the key as he faces off against a stellar goaltender in Jacob Markstrom.

OVI RETIRES WITH 947 CAREER GOALS
2026 NHL Offseason
The games greatest goal scorer of all time has retired following a 1589 game career.
Alex "Ovi" Ovechkin scored 947 goals and 1710 points over his career.
His 947 goals are 53 more than the next closest, Wayne Gretzky with 894.
Also calling it quits this offseason were Nicklas Backstrom, Corey Perry, Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang.

HUGHES WINS FIRST CAREER NORRIS TROPHY
2026 NHL Awards, Las Vegas
Following a season which saw Quinn Hughes record 10 goals and 72 points in 82 games, he has been awarded his first career Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman.
The 62 assists and 72 points were both career highs, as was his +19 rating. The 62 assists were tied for most in the NHl by a defenseman with Cale Makar, while his 72 points lef all d-men by 3 (Makar 69).
Hughes is heading into the final year of his current contract and will be due a big pay raise, with the Norris Trophy only boosting his bargaining chips.

BEDARD, HOGLANDER, BERGERON RE-SIGN WITH CANUCKS
Re-sign Phase
Connor Bedard, 2nd in NHL scoring last season and 2023 1st overall pick of the Canucks, has signed a 6-year contract worth a total of $72 million.
That carries an AAV of $12 million, and officially makes him the highest paid Canuck, joining the $12 million AAV club with McDavid and MacKinnon.
Hoglander, coming off his first career 60-point season, signs a 5-year contract with a $3 million raise from his previous deal.
Patrice Bergeron, after scoring 36 goals, the second highest total of his career, re-signs on yet another 1-year deal with the Canucks. The now 40-year old has 66 goals and 71 assists for 137 points in 163 games with the Canucks. He is not here solely for this offensive production, but it is welcomed as long as it continues.

CANUCKS INK 3 PLAYERS TO DEALS DURING FREE AGENCY
Free Agent Frenzy
Klim Kostin, Josh Manson and Mikael Granlund have joined the Vancouver Canucks via Free Agency.
Kostin, 27, joins the Canucks following a solid stint with the Oilers. The former 1st round pick signs for 4 years and a total of $16 million, and figures into Vancouver's middle 6 group.
Manson, 34, is a Stanley Cup Winner with the Colorado Avalanche. The rugged defenseman can be relied on to be a steady force on a 2nd or 3rd pair at this point in his career, and will eat PK minutes. He comes in on a 1-year deal at $2.5 million.
Mikael Granlund, 34, is a playmaking forward who joins the Canucks with 993 games of NHL experience. Last season with Chicago on a one-year deal, he recorded 10 goals and 38 points in 82 games. Granlund signed a 1-year pact paying him just over $2 million.

Great post yet again. Calgary always becomes a beast of an team in Franchise.
Thank you! Appreciate it very much! Calgary certain handled my Canucks pretty easily and have already one 1 Cup. Forgot to mention but they've lost in the Finals as well now after the Flyers won the Cup in the season passed...

I'm only 4 years in and they've had 2 finals appearances. Canucks got 1 tho:cool:

2026-2027 NHL Season

CANUCKS DEFEAT DUCKS 7-4 FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON
Oct. 16th, 2026
After dropping their first game to a motivated Oilers club, whom the Canucks defeated in the 1st round of the Playoffs last season, the Canucks ensured they got their first win of the season in their second game.
A dominant second period opened up a 6-1 lead over Anaheim, and despite a pushback from the Ducks, Vancouver would close it out 7-4.
Quinn Hughes, firts star, UFA at seasons end and fresh off a Norris win, recorded 4 points with 1 goal; while newcomer Kilm Kostin (2nd star) scored his first goal with the club and added 2 assists to boot.
Grigrori Denisenko scored twice on the 4th line.
Cam Allen scored his first NHL goal lining up on the 2nd pair with Esa Lindell.
After surrendering 5 to the Oilers, Swayman also let up 4 in this one in a poor start to the season for the netminder.
The Canucks offseason additions had the lauded as a top-3 Cup contender heading into the season, and they currently sit 1-1-0 on that assumption.

ARTURS SILOVS ADMIRABLE IN FIRST CAREER NHL START, CANUCKS FALL IN OT
Nov. 9th, 2026
Ivan Prosvetov, injured in his second start of the season and ruled out until the beginning of January, vacated his backup role to AHL starter and prospect Arturs Silovs.
The Latvian performed as good as anyone could have asked in his first NHL game, turning aside 24 of 26 in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The loss dropped Vancouver to 6-4-2 on the season. That said, it extends a point streak to 5 games following a 4 game win streak that saw the Canucks recover from their 2-4-1 start to the season.
Aatu Raty leads the team in goals with 7 through 12 games, while Quinn Hughes leads in points with 15.

images

CAPTAIN PETTERSSON LIFTS CANUCKS TO 10TH WIN OF SEASON
Nov. 24th, 2026
It has been an up and down season for the Canucks, who haven't seem the consistency that led to a top 4 finish in the league last season.
Tonight though, Elias Pettersson made sure the Canucks would earn their 10th win of the season through 19 games (10-6-3).
The captain scored and added two assists, while Connor Bedard scored and also had an assist.
Jeremy Swayman, who has had a porous start to the season, recently losing starts to 3rd string Arturs Silovs, stopped 22 of 24 (.917 SV%).

BEDARD 3RD PERIOD HATTRICK HELPS BINNINGTON WIN DEBUT AFTER SWAYMAN TRADE
Dec. 19th, 2026
Just one day before their second-to-last game before the holiday play and roster freeze, Brant King called it quits on Jeremy Swayman after seeing failed Playoff performances, subpar regular seasons, and a .899 SV% 30+ games into the season.
In a deal with the St Louis Blues, GMBK acquired a 3rd round pick and 2B goaltender Jordan Binnington for Swayman.
In his first start with the club, just 18 hours after being acquired, Binnington surrendered 4 goals but was saved by a Connor Bedard 3rd period hattrick as the Canucks downed the Caps 6-4.
Esa Lindell had 3 assists in the game while Raty, Bergeron and Kostin also scored for Vancouver (15-11-5).

PROSVETOV RECORDS SHUTOUT WIN IN RETURN FROM INJURY
Dec. 21st, 2026
Ivan Prosvetov will likely see more starts with the Swayman/ Binnington trade, as he figures into more of a platoon situation now than the more stable starter backup role with Swayman.
In his return from injury, 2 weeks ahead of schedule, the netminder made 30 saves for the shutout as the Canucks defeated the Red Wings 5-0 on home ice.
Aatu Raty scored twice, while Jakub Lauko, Klim Kostin and Patrice Bergeron rounded out the scoring.

HUGHES ECLIPSES 50 POINTS AS CANUCKS CLOSE OUT FIRST HALF WITH WIN
Jan. 13th, 2027
After 41 games, it is the official halfway point of the 2026-2027 NHL season.
Following a dominant 51-32 shot count in a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers, the Canucks sit 2nd in the Pacific Division with a record of 23-13-5. They are 8-2-0 in their last 10 and one of the hottest teams in the NHL since the Binnginton/Swayman trade.
Quinn Hughes, making the most of his contract year, scored his 10th goal and added his 40th assist and sits with 50 points in 41 games, having a legitimate chance at not only back-to-back Norris Trophy's but also at being the first defenseman to record 100 points since Erik Karlsson did so in 22/23 (just the second since Brian Leetch in 91/92)
Hughes (50) and Bedard (47) sit 2nd and 3rd in the NHL in points, being only McDavid (54). Elias Pettersson (44) sits 8th.

HUGHES, BEDARD CONTINUE TO SHINE AS CANUCKS REACH 30 WINS
Feb. 3rd, 2027
Its the Quinn Hughes and Connor Bedard show in Van City, in that order somewhat surprisingly.
Following the Canucks 3-2 win over the Senators in which Bedard scored and Quinn Hughes factored on all 3 goals (1-2--3), Vancouver sits 2nd in the Pacific and 3rd in the entire NHL with a 30-15-5 record.
They trail only the Kraken, who are having an incredible season with a record of 31-10-9 and a league leading 71 points.
Quinn Hughes has now recorded 16 points in the 9 games since the halfway point, a torrid pace that sees him sitting with 66 points through 50 games, 4 points clear on Connor McDavid for 1st in NHL scoring.
Bedard meanwhile, now has 27 goals and 56 points through 50 games, his points total 4th in the NHL and his goal total 2nd to only Jack Eichel.
Ivan Prosvetov now owns a record of 11-3-0 with a .944 SV% and has been the teams primary starter lately.

RATY'S PAIR LIFTS CANUCKS TO WIN, 1ST PLACE IN PACIFIC
March 1st, 2027
February was an incredible month to be a Vancouver Canucks fan.
Aatu Raty started March the way February ended, with a win, as he scored twice in the 3rd period to give the Canucks a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist, as did Aatu Raty.

Figured Nucks will trade for a goalie. Still tho, i think if they fall short in the playoffs, it most likely will be because goaltending. Lets hope I'm wrong.
Also exciting summer coming with Hughes. Almost must sign player ;)

The team that knocked the Canucks out of the Playoffs last season will once again be their opponent on any potential run the Canucks want after their historic season.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEDARD, CANUCKS
End of Playoffs
Connor Bedard has not been injured during the playoffs or in the last game of the season in each of the last two years.
Teams cannot survive at this time of year without their best player, especially when he's the reigning Rocket Richard and Art Ross and likely Hart and Ted Lindsay winner.
The Canucks and Bedard need to figure out whether this is a Bedard durability problem or a reducing his ice time down the stretch problem. But it is hard to reduce a guys ice when he's in a heated race for the first Rocket Richard in Franchise history. But at what cost? After finishing 2nd in the league last season to McDavid but injuring himself in the final game, he played all 82 games this year to stay ahead of the pack, but was injured in game 2 of the playoffs.
One thing is certain, Jorden Binnington outperformed Jeremy Swayman is all regards in a 6 game playoff performance. He potentially earned himself a new contract from the Canucks, as he was anything but the reason they lost, posting a shutout in a do-or-die Game 5 and recording 43 saves on 45 shots in a 2-1 loss in Game 6.

Tough break... now, obviously this is *your* franchise vs mine, but if it were me, I'd look at upgrading the defense (though I guess Allen will probably grow and progress, which should make for a decent top 4) and possibly the second line :)

While it's often said that some players just need a change of scenery and more playing time to make an impact, that has rung truer than ever for the 2022-2023 Winnipeg Jets. Nobody has been a better example than center Sean Kuraly, who has scored an astounding 21 goals through nine games. However, Kuraly was injured on October 30 vs. Vegas. He is only expected to be out until November 5 with what the team has called a "mild" concussion. Additionally, the team is missing defenseman Mike Reilly, who is expected to be out of the lineup until December 4 with a sprained MCL.

Beyond Kuraly's tremendous start to the year, Winnipeg's 9-1-0 record can be attributed to depth scoring as well as solid defense and goaltending. Other standouts include forward Brock McGinn and defenseman Travis Hamonic. Full statistics are below.

HUGHES, BERGERON, BINNINGTON LEAVE CANUCKS STUNNED AS THEY DEPART VIA FREE AGENCY
2027 Offseason Recap
No team was hit as bad as the Vancouver Canucks were this offseason.
Quinn Hughes, after his historic season, shocked the world by choosing to leave the Canucks for division rival Sharks. GMBK was reported to have gone as far as offering the defenseman upwards of $15 million on an 8-year deal and even circling back in Free Agency with a 7-year offer.
Patrice Bergeron, coming off 81 points in 82 games, spurned the Canucks attempts at re-signing the key veteran cog and offensive stabilizer of the middle 6. He joined Hughes with Division Rival San Jose.
Jordan Binnington, acquired for Swayman mid season, also departed after a solid second half was ended early by a playoff loss that was no fault of Binningtons.

CANUCKS SIGN TRIO OF FREE AGENTS TO SUPPLEMENT ROSTER
2027 Offseason Recap
The 2027-2028 edition of the Canucks is going to look quite a bit different from last years team.
Pegged to fill the holes vacated by Hughes, Begeron and Binnington are Victor Hedman, William Karlsson and Pyotr Kochetkov.
Hedman and Karlsson bring veteran leadership and can still play at a high level, even if they are both certain downgrades from their predecessors.
Pyotr Kochetkov could have the potential though to be the make or break piece of this offseason. The 28-year old now has 4 NHL seasons with over 30-wins, and has posted a .914 and .916 in two of those.
Kochetkov comes in for 6 years at $8.25M per season, while Karlsson is a 2 year pact worth a total of $5.95M and Hedman is a 1 year deal for $7.7M.

CANCUCKS, DUCKS SWAP 2022 1ST ROUNDERS, CANUCKS GIVE UP 2028 1ST AND PHIL EBERLE (2024 1ST)
2027 Offseason Recap
This is certainly more than GM Brant King would have ever wanted to give up.
But, his hands were tied, and the Canucks are in somewhat of a desperation mode as they try to recover from a catastrophic offseason that saw them lose 3 integral pieces from the Powerhouse they were last year before their Playoff collapse.
Pavel Mintyukov, the Ducks 2022 10th overall pick, had requested a trade from the organization after being a healthy scratch for 20 games in each of the last 2 seasons. the 23 year old posted back to back 1 goal, 9 asisst seasons.
The Canucks gave up quite a bit to make this deal happen. Jonathan Lekkerimaki, their 2022 15th overall pick, Phil Eberle (their 2024 1st round pick), RFA defenseman Artemi Kniazev and this years 1st round pick. The Ducks sent their 4th round pick to the Canucks.

Look at this Hall of Fame retirement class of 2033! Only McDavid and Pasta stayed with their original team the whole way. Not sure why they made McDavid retire so early, he could have stayed a few more years and gotten 2,000 points

Got tired of my Jets franchise, so I'm doing something similar, except I'll be simming the games and giving myself a huge disadvantage at first. And so begins the "Geriatric Challenge". In a fantasy draft, every player on my team must be at least 35 years of age to start and lower than 85 overall. I'm hoping that increased minutes for some of these guys will help build their trade value as I attempt to bring a Stanley Cup to San Jose. Our first season will be in the next post.
