2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs
While the Canucks come in with momentum on their side, having put forth a dominant effort to beat Edmonton 4-0 just 3 nights ago on the final day of the Regular season, the loss of Connor Bedard is undoubtedly a debilitating blow to the Canucks playoff odds and outlook.
Vancouver is the 3rd seed, starting on the road, but they come in having gone 14-2-2 post deadline to nearly pass Edmonton. If the season had 2 more games or an extra week, the belief is Vancouver could've made a run at Edmontons home ice advantage.
You can always play the what-if game, but theres no what-if about this: Connor Bedard is out atleast a week of this series, and Vancouver is in tough to survive that long without him.

The Canucks did their job in Round 1. McDavid and Draisaitl were each held to just 5 points in the 6 game series, and Vancouver lasted long enough in the series to get Connor Bedard back for the clinching Game 6.
Bedard factored in immediately, assisting on Aatu Ratys 2nd period powerplay goal to knot the game at 1 a piece.
They now face Calgary, the Presidents' Trophy winners and undisputed Western Conference favorite in Round 2.
Calgary is led by a deep offensive attack built around a Kadri-Lindholm-Johansen centregroup. That mix of scoring, experience and defensive reliability down the middle is hard to compete with, but Vancouver can come close with Bedard-Bergeron-Krebs.
Krebs, the teams leading scorer in last years playoff run with 21 points in 24 games, had 3 assists in 5 games while filling in for Connor Bedard on the top line.
Vancouver is led by Game 6 hero Aatu Raty, who has 4 goals and 8 points through 6 games. Quinn Hughes has also been spectacular with partner Adam Larsson, as they effectively shut down the McDavid/Draisaitl line while Quinn also posted 2 goals and 8 points.
Jeremy Swayman says he is fully healthy after it was clear by his Game 5 performance that he returned maybe a game too early from the injury that forced him out of Games 3 and 4. This may be the key as he faces off against a stellar goaltender in Jacob Markstrom.

HUGHES WINS FIRST CAREER NORRIS TROPHY
2026 NHL Awards, Las Vegas
Following a season which saw Quinn Hughes record 10 goals and 72 points in 82 games, he has been awarded his first career Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman.
The 62 assists and 72 points were both career highs, as was his +19 rating. The 62 assists were tied for most in the NHl by a defenseman with Cale Makar, while his 72 points lef all d-men by 3 (Makar 69).
Hughes is heading into the final year of his current contract and will be due a big pay raise, with the Norris Trophy only boosting his bargaining chips.
BEDARD, HOGLANDER, BERGERON RE-SIGN WITH CANUCKS
Re-sign Phase
Connor Bedard, 2nd in NHL scoring last season and 2023 1st overall pick of the Canucks, has signed a 6-year contract worth a total of $72 million.
That carries an AAV of $12 million, and officially makes him the highest paid Canuck, joining the $12 million AAV club with McDavid and MacKinnon.
Hoglander, coming off his first career 60-point season, signs a 5-year contract with a $3 million raise from his previous deal.
Patrice Bergeron, after scoring 36 goals, the second highest total of his career, re-signs on yet another 1-year deal with the Canucks. The now 40-year old has 66 goals and 71 assists for 137 points in 163 games with the Canucks. He is not here solely for this offensive production, but it is welcomed as long as it continues.

CANUCKS INK 3 PLAYERS TO DEALS DURING FREE AGENCY
Free Agent Frenzy
Klim Kostin, Josh Manson and Mikael Granlund have joined the Vancouver Canucks via Free Agency.
Kostin, 27, joins the Canucks following a solid stint with the Oilers. The former 1st round pick signs for 4 years and a total of $16 million, and figures into Vancouver's middle 6 group.
Manson, 34, is a Stanley Cup Winner with the Colorado Avalanche. The rugged defenseman can be relied on to be a steady force on a 2nd or 3rd pair at this point in his career, and will eat PK minutes. He comes in on a 1-year deal at $2.5 million.
Mikael Granlund, 34, is a playmaking forward who joins the Canucks with 993 games of NHL experience. Last season with Chicago on a one-year deal, he recorded 10 goals and 38 points in 82 games. Granlund signed a 1-year pact paying him just over $2 million.

2026-2027 NHL Season
CANUCKS DEFEAT DUCKS 7-4 FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON
Oct. 16th, 2026
After dropping their first game to a motivated Oilers club, whom the Canucks defeated in the 1st round of the Playoffs last season, the Canucks ensured they got their first win of the season in their second game.
A dominant second period opened up a 6-1 lead over Anaheim, and despite a pushback from the Ducks, Vancouver would close it out 7-4.
Quinn Hughes, firts star, UFA at seasons end and fresh off a Norris win, recorded 4 points with 1 goal; while newcomer Kilm Kostin (2nd star) scored his first goal with the club and added 2 assists to boot.
Grigrori Denisenko scored twice on the 4th line.
Cam Allen scored his first NHL goal lining up on the 2nd pair with Esa Lindell.
After surrendering 5 to the Oilers, Swayman also let up 4 in this one in a poor start to the season for the netminder.
The Canucks offseason additions had the lauded as a top-3 Cup contender heading into the season, and they currently sit 1-1-0 on that assumption.
ARTURS SILOVS ADMIRABLE IN FIRST CAREER NHL START, CANUCKS FALL IN OT
Nov. 9th, 2026
Ivan Prosvetov, injured in his second start of the season and ruled out until the beginning of January, vacated his backup role to AHL starter and prospect Arturs Silovs.
The Latvian performed as good as anyone could have asked in his first NHL game, turning aside 24 of 26 in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The loss dropped Vancouver to 6-4-2 on the season. That said, it extends a point streak to 5 games following a 4 game win streak that saw the Canucks recover from their 2-4-1 start to the season.
Aatu Raty leads the team in goals with 7 through 12 games, while Quinn Hughes leads in points with 15.
CAPTAIN PETTERSSON LIFTS CANUCKS TO 10TH WIN OF SEASON
Nov. 24th, 2026
It has been an up and down season for the Canucks, who haven't seem the consistency that led to a top 4 finish in the league last season.
Tonight though, Elias Pettersson made sure the Canucks would earn their 10th win of the season through 19 games (10-6-3).
The captain scored and added two assists, while Connor Bedard scored and also had an assist.
Jeremy Swayman, who has had a porous start to the season, recently losing starts to 3rd string Arturs Silovs, stopped 22 of 24 (.917 SV%).
BEDARD 3RD PERIOD HATTRICK HELPS BINNINGTON WIN DEBUT AFTER SWAYMAN TRADE
Dec. 19th, 2026
Just one day before their second-to-last game before the holiday play and roster freeze, Brant King called it quits on Jeremy Swayman after seeing failed Playoff performances, subpar regular seasons, and a .899 SV% 30+ games into the season.
In a deal with the St Louis Blues, GMBK acquired a 3rd round pick and 2B goaltender Jordan Binnington for Swayman.
In his first start with the club, just 18 hours after being acquired, Binnington surrendered 4 goals but was saved by a Connor Bedard 3rd period hattrick as the Canucks downed the Caps 6-4.
Esa Lindell had 3 assists in the game while Raty, Bergeron and Kostin also scored for Vancouver (15-11-5).
PROSVETOV RECORDS SHUTOUT WIN IN RETURN FROM INJURY
Dec. 21st, 2026
Ivan Prosvetov will likely see more starts with the Swayman/ Binnington trade, as he figures into more of a platoon situation now than the more stable starter backup role with Swayman.
In his return from injury, 2 weeks ahead of schedule, the netminder made 30 saves for the shutout as the Canucks defeated the Red Wings 5-0 on home ice.
Aatu Raty scored twice, while Jakub Lauko, Klim Kostin and Patrice Bergeron rounded out the scoring.
HUGHES ECLIPSES 50 POINTS AS CANUCKS CLOSE OUT FIRST HALF WITH WIN
Jan. 13th, 2027
After 41 games, it is the official halfway point of the 2026-2027 NHL season.
Following a dominant 51-32 shot count in a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers, the Canucks sit 2nd in the Pacific Division with a record of 23-13-5. They are 8-2-0 in their last 10 and one of the hottest teams in the NHL since the Binnginton/Swayman trade.
Quinn Hughes, making the most of his contract year, scored his 10th goal and added his 40th assist and sits with 50 points in 41 games, having a legitimate chance at not only back-to-back Norris Trophy's but also at being the first defenseman to record 100 points since Erik Karlsson did so in 22/23 (just the second since Brian Leetch in 91/92)
Hughes (50) and Bedard (47) sit 2nd and 3rd in the NHL in points, being only McDavid (54). Elias Pettersson (44) sits 8th.
HUGHES, BEDARD CONTINUE TO SHINE AS CANUCKS REACH 30 WINS
Feb. 3rd, 2027
Its the Quinn Hughes and Connor Bedard show in Van City, in that order somewhat surprisingly.
Following the Canucks 3-2 win over the Senators in which Bedard scored and Quinn Hughes factored on all 3 goals (1-2--3), Vancouver sits 2nd in the Pacific and 3rd in the entire NHL with a 30-15-5 record.
They trail only the Kraken, who are having an incredible season with a record of 31-10-9 and a league leading 71 points.
Quinn Hughes has now recorded 16 points in the 9 games since the halfway point, a torrid pace that sees him sitting with 66 points through 50 games, 4 points clear on Connor McDavid for 1st in NHL scoring.
Bedard meanwhile, now has 27 goals and 56 points through 50 games, his points total 4th in the NHL and his goal total 2nd to only Jack Eichel.
Ivan Prosvetov now owns a record of 11-3-0 with a .944 SV% and has been the teams primary starter lately.
RATY'S PAIR LIFTS CANUCKS TO WIN, 1ST PLACE IN PACIFIC
March 1st, 2027
February was an incredible month to be a Vancouver Canucks fan.
Aatu Raty started March the way February ended, with a win, as he scored twice in the 3rd period to give the Canucks a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Canucks, who went 9-1-0 in February are now (including todays win) are now 20-4-0 in their last 24 games, all in the 2027 Calendar year.
Vancouvers 39-16-5 record paces the league with 83 points.
Quinn Hughes (72) and Connor Bedard (70) are now 1-2 in NHL scoring with Crosby and McDavid (69) closely trailing.
Bedards 33 goals is 1st in the NHL, two clear of Matthews (31), although Matthews has played just 49 games to Bedards 60.
CANUCKS ADD KANE AT DEADLINE
March 9th, 2027
Showtime in Vancouver.
The league leading Canucks acquired Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks, along with Colton Scissons, for their 2027 1st rounder and Mikael Granlund.
Granlund, signed this offseason, had just 27 points through 63 games while being -7 on the 3rd line. The hope is Kane can allow the 3rd line to have a scoring threat, as both Lysell and Krebs are more playmakers.
Scissons slots in as the 4C, while Jakub Lauko slides to the LW and Grigori Denisenko becomes the 13th forward.
KANE SCORES IN DEBUT AS CANUCKS WIN 4-1
March 10th, 2027
It certainly did not take long for Patrick Kane to get acclimated to his new team.
The 39-year old scored his first goal with the Vancouver Canucks in the 2nd period of a 4-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes. His goal turned out to be the game winner.
Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist, as did Aatu Raty.
Jordan Binnington stopped 24/25 for the win.
HUGHES HAS 5-POINT NIGHT AS NUCKS ROUT WILD 6-0 TO CLINCH PLAYOFFS
March 28th, 2027
Quinn Hughes exploded offensively for a goal and 4 assists and Jordan Binnington made 22 saves as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild 6-0 tonight.
Deadline acquisition Patrick Kane scored twice, while Connor Bedard had 2 assists.
The Canucks, now 47-20-5, trail the Kraken by 2 points for the Division and NHL lead, but have now clinched the Playoffs.
Vancouver, impressively, had 3 of the top 9 point getters in the NHL. Bedard has fallen behind McDavid for the NHL lead by 2 points, while Quinn Hughes is tied for 3rd with Mitch Marner. Bedard also trails Auston Matthews for NHL goals leader by 2 goals.
Quinn Hughes is a whopping 22 points ahead of the next defenseman in points.
Ivan Prosvetov, now 17-4-0, leads all goalies with over 20 GP in SV% at a .938.
Jordan Binnginton, now 18-8-0 with Vancouver, has a .920 SV% in VAN and a .919 SV% overall on the season.
The Canucks have 10 games remaining on the schedule. Quinn Hughes is 14 points away from 100.
BEDARD EXPLODES FOR 5 POINTS IN 9-1 DOUSING OF THE FLAMES
March 29th, 2027
Just one day after we wrote here that Connor Bedard had fallen behind McDavid for the lead league in points and behind Matthews for the league lead in goals, Bedard immediately reclaimed the title in both.
With 3 goals and 2 assists in the Canucks 48th win of the season, Bedard now has 40 goals and 92 points in just 73 games.
Hughes, by the way, added 2 assists to his total to get to 88 points, 12 away from joining the 100-point defenseman club with 9 games remaining.
VANCOUVER EARNS 50TH WIN OF SEASON WITH 8-3 WIN OVER PENGUINS
April 6th, 2027
The Canucks have hit 50 wins for just the 3rd time in team history with another offensive blowout, this time in an 8-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Connor Bedard and Quinn Hughes, each chasing 100 points, each had 2 goals and 1 asisst, while rookie defenseman Cam Allen also scored twice.Aatu Raty (1-1--2) and Patrice Bergeron (1-1--2) rounded out the goal scoring for Vancouver.
Elias Petterson had 2 assists, and Jordan Binnington made 26 saves.
The Canucks sit 50-21-6, one point ahead of the Kraken for 1st in the NHL. Each team has 5 games remaining.
With the 3 points, Connor Bedard eclipsed 100 points (45-55--100), while Quinn Hughes now has 96. That is good for 1st and 2nd in the NHL once again.
HUGHES RECORDS 2 ASSISTS IN WIN OVER PREDATORS, HITS 100 POINTS
April 15th, 2027
Quinn Hughes has become the first defenseman since Erik Karlson (22/23) and the second since Brian Leetch (91/92) to record 100 points. He is also just the 6th defenseman to ever do so in NHL history.
The 4-2 win saw the Canucks (52-23-6) leapfrog back over the Kraken (49-21-11) for first in the NHL with just one game remaining for each team. Its simple for the Canucks: win and you're the Presidents' Trophy winner.
Connor Bedard scored his 48th goal and is in reach of his first career 50 goal season if he can score twice against the Avs in Game 82 of the season in 2 nights time.

2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs
FIRST ROUND VS FLAMES
It's a rematch.
The team that knocked the Canucks out of the Playoffs last season will once again be their opponent on any potential run the Canucks want after their historic season.
For Bedard and the Canucks, its a chance for revenge and redemption. For the Flames, once of the more dominant teams over the last 5 seasons that GM Brant King took the reigns, its a chance to once again assert their dominance in the Pacific Division.
The Canucks ultimate goal, which they have not been afraid to mention, is to return to the Stanley Cup Final and avenage their loss from 2 seasons ago.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEDARD, CANUCKS
End of Playoffs
Connor Bedard has not been injured during the playoffs or in the last game of the season in each of the last two years.
Teams cannot survive at this time of year without their best player, especially when he's the reigning Rocket Richard and Art Ross and likely Hart and Ted Lindsay winner.
The Canucks and Bedard need to figure out whether this is a Bedard durability problem or a reducing his ice time down the stretch problem. But it is hard to reduce a guys ice when he's in a heated race for the first Rocket Richard in Franchise history. But at what cost? After finishing 2nd in the league last season to McDavid but injuring himself in the final game, he played all 82 games this year to stay ahead of the pack, but was injured in game 2 of the playoffs.
One thing is certain, Jorden Binnington outperformed Jeremy Swayman is all regards in a 6 game playoff performance. He potentially earned himself a new contract from the Canucks, as he was anything but the reason they lost, posting a shutout in a do-or-die Game 5 and recording 43 saves on 45 shots in a 2-1 loss in Game 6.
Got thrown a curveball during re-sign phase... really complicating things.Tough break... now, obviously this is *your* franchise vs mine, but if it were me, I'd look at upgrading the defense (though I guess Allen will probably grow and progress, which should make for a decent top 4) and possibly the second line

I've started a franchise with the Jets and my goal, of course, is to win the Stanley Cup. The catch here? I can't use anyone on my team who's an 80 overall or higher. I'm going to play all the games, but with my players being so subpar, I don't know how easy it will be.
The rosters for this franchise were fantasy drafted. As one might expect, there are some pretty terrible contracts on my books, as I needed to make sure we were above the cap floor.
These are our lines:
Brock McGinn (79) - Sean Kuraly (79) - Cal Clutterbuck (78)
Zach Aston-Reese (79) - Nico Sturm (79) - Colton Sissons (79)
Milan Lucic (79) - Joe Thornton "A" (79) - Joel Armia (78)
Nick Foligno "A" (79) - Zemgus Girgensons (79) - Zack Kassian (77)
Radem Simek (79) - Travis Hamonic (79)
Patrik Nemeth (79) - Erik Gudbranson "C" (78)
Mike Reilly (79) - Nikita Zaitsev (78)
Samuel Montembeault (79)
Malcolm Subban (79)
I'll post updates every 10-15 games or so.

Vancouver Canucks Franchise Mode
2027-2028 NHL Season
HUGHES, BERGERON, BINNINGTON LEAVE CANUCKS STUNNED AS THEY DEPART VIA FREE AGENCY
2027 Offseason Recap
No team was hit as bad as the Vancouver Canucks were this offseason.
Quinn Hughes, after his historic season, shocked the world by choosing to leave the Canucks for division rival Sharks. GMBK was reported to have gone as far as offering the defenseman upwards of $15 million on an 8-year deal and even circling back in Free Agency with a 7-year offer.
Patrice Bergeron, coming off 81 points in 82 games, spurned the Canucks attempts at re-signing the key veteran cog and offensive stabilizer of the middle 6. He joined Hughes with Division Rival San Jose.
Jordan Binnington, acquired for Swayman mid season, also departed after a solid second half was ended early by a playoff loss that was no fault of Binningtons.

2027 Offseason Recap
The 2027-2028 edition of the Canucks is going to look quite a bit different from last years team.
Pegged to fill the holes vacated by Hughes, Begeron and Binnington are Victor Hedman, William Karlsson and Pyotr Kochetkov.
Hedman and Karlsson bring veteran leadership and can still play at a high level, even if they are both certain downgrades from their predecessors.
Pyotr Kochetkov could have the potential though to be the make or break piece of this offseason. The 28-year old now has 4 NHL seasons with over 30-wins, and has posted a .914 and .916 in two of those.
Kochetkov comes in for 6 years at $8.25M per season, while Karlsson is a 2 year pact worth a total of $5.95M and Hedman is a 1 year deal for $7.7M.
CANCUCKS, DUCKS SWAP 2022 1ST ROUNDERS, CANUCKS GIVE UP 2028 1ST AND PHIL EBERLE (2024 1ST)
2027 Offseason Recap
This is certainly more than GM Brant King would have ever wanted to give up.
But, his hands were tied, and the Canucks are in somewhat of a desperation mode as they try to recover from a catastrophic offseason that saw them lose 3 integral pieces from the Powerhouse they were last year before their Playoff collapse.
Pavel Mintyukov, the Ducks 2022 10th overall pick, had requested a trade from the organization after being a healthy scratch for 20 games in each of the last 2 seasons. the 23 year old posted back to back 1 goal, 9 asisst seasons.
The Canucks gave up quite a bit to make this deal happen. Jonathan Lekkerimaki, their 2022 15th overall pick, Phil Eberle (their 2024 1st round pick), RFA defenseman Artemi Kniazev and this years 1st round pick. The Ducks sent their 4th round pick to the Canucks.
