This was a lengthy back and forth with Habs' GM @OB5 , and PLD was almost dealt elsewhere, but in the end he will be going home which he has indicated is his preference. We wish him the best and are happy to add 2 more high picks in the draft to our re-tooling effort.

TRADE

Pavel Buchnevich (50% retained)
2024 4th

:blues

Alex DeBrincat
Zach Ostapchuk

This deal gives us some much-needed breathing room to shore up our position in net while making what we see as, at worst, a lateral move at forward. @trick9 to confirm.

:blues Confirm.

While it's tough to lose Buchnevich, we are moving in different direction to get younger so moving Buchnevich who is set to be UFA in a year makes sense to get bonafide goalscoring top-line winger and a really good prospect with him.

Boston Bruins would like to announce that they have signed Matt Fillipe (LW), Nick Wolff (D) and Joona Koppanen (LW) to qualifying offers, and have signed newly acquired Carson Soucy to a 2-year deal worth $2.6M per year.

Though, this I agree with.
If I thought I could realistically sign Soucy to this sweet of a deal, I wouldn't have let his rights go so easily...
He’s no world beater and probably doesn’t get much more anyway though. Just thought he’d be a pretty sought after player on the open market.

We bumped up the deal to $2.8M/year for 2 years. I agree that he would at least want a raise from his current deal, but I think a deal between $2.5M - $3.0M is fair market value. There is a good chance he is going to be in our Top 4, which could allow for him to excel in the role playing with McAvoy, and he can make even more money in the near future after this short term contract expires. I didn't realize he was making $2.75M/year on this deal, that was an error on my end.

Given how many contenders are strapped for cap space, I don't think guys like Soucy are going to get much more than $3M on the open market, anyways. Unless he wants to play on a team where he won't have any chance of winning this season. Some guys want to factor in the market and team that they are playing for when deciding if it makes sense to sign, not just the dollar amount.

@ujju2

GM AslanRH committed to improving the prospect pool and painful moves had to be made.
"Juuse is a premiere goaltender in this league and his absence will be felt, but this franchise needs an infusion of young high ceiling talent. This is likely the first of many moves that will need to happen over the next couple years."

Broberg is expected to be the next great Predator defenseman, and Lavoie will get a chance this season to add some goal scoring to Predators after their less than impressive 2023.

After hours of analysis, the GM was assured by Vanderklok, Rook, and special advisor Rinne that they can get Campbell back on track.

Nashville now has 10 1st or 2nd round picks between the 2023 and 2024 NHL drafts.

Oilers confirm.

GM Ujju2 and the entire Oilers organization are committed to winning the Stanley Cup within this window, and adding an elite goaltender like Saros at 50% cap hit will go a long way towards meeting that expectation. Of course, it is tough to part with such promising young players as Broberg and Lavoie, and we wish Philip and Raphael all the best in Nashville, and thank them for their contributions over the past few years to the Oilers organization.

Big Names still available to contenders
Barrie and Lauzon available at a discount for futures, or for an equivelant forward.

Aimlessly looking around for any inspiration and open to consider anything except rebuilding or moving Ovechkin and Backstrom.

:devils

Looking to acquire a 2nd line center and a top-4 D. Willing to move prospects and young NHL'ers to do so. Also we are looking to move Vitek Vanecek for a draft pick.

:blues

Torey Krug and Jakub Vrana likely on the move tonight, get your last offers in if interested. Blues are also looking to move on from some pf their bigger contracts and are looking to move few veterans such as Colton Parayko, Nick Leddy, Marco Scandella, Kasperi Kapanen and Jordan Binnington later today. They will likely be available for cheap to get more cap room.

:nucks

Currently discussing a deal but if anyone has a young(25 and under) top 6 center(or top 9 if breaking out) that they may move, I'm interested. I have 11th and 16th picks available to build a potential deal around.

:pensacquire 35OA and Tyler Johnson at 50%

:hawksacquire 14OA and Mikael Granlund

@LT to confirm

Chicago are happy to move up in the draft and Granlund can shield Bedard. If he bounces back to pre-2022/2023 Granlund, he'd be worth something in the future also

Nice trade Chicago.

Has Granlund’s value really taken that much of a hit? He was incredibly misused by Pittsburgh but I would’ve figured he’d still have some positive value.
