Willing to move Bo Horvat/Hunter Shinkaruk and my 1st in 2014 for a top 6 center signed long term. Other pieces could be involved for the right player.

FLOWN THE COOP; ANAHEIM ACQUIRES GIRARDI
girardidagostini.gif

Team A | Acquired | Team B | Acquired
:ducks | Dan Girardi ($1,662,500 retained) | :rangers | Kyle Palmieri, ANA 2nd '14, Conditional 2nd '16 (Girardi re-signed before Free Agency)

Dan Girardi was acquired from the New York Rangers in a move that saw Kyle Palmieri and picks sent the other way.

"Girardi represents a significant boost to our blueline. He's a consummate leader and thrives on a steady diet of top opposition players. He brings balance to the right side of our blueline and allows coach Boudreau a multitude of options in how we employ our defense."

Boudreau is well versed on the rugged shutdown defensemen, having gone to war against Girardi and the Rangers in his days behind the Capitals bench. "He'll be paired up with Cam Fowler in the early going, but come the postseason we may see a shutdown pairing of Beauchemin and Girardi formed."

The acquisition of Girardi brings back fond memories for Corey Perry. The two won a Memorial Cup together as members of the London Knights in 2005. Girardi was acquired from the Guelph Storm during season as the Knights dominated, going a flawless 4-0 through the tournament.

I'm shocked that Edmonton wasn't on Simmonds no-trade list. If I had been PMd and asked to approve it I'd have said no. :P

He is in his 6th year (i.e. still an RFA).

And for the record, this is totally something Philly would do.

Unless you mean Hollywood did not send it in to you, in which case, let me know which pieces would be deemed major pieces that would need to be altered.

Looking for a Top-4 blueliner... willing to move our picks (1st, 2 2nds), Irwin, Tennyson, among other things to acquire one.

The Ranger confirm. We love the way Girardi plays but we felt the need to open up a spot for a young player and a more offensive player.

We feel Kyle will be a great addition to our young forward group of Stepan, Hagelin, Kreider, Miller, Fast, Lindberg and Kristo along with Brassard, Callahan and Nash.

We thank Girardi for his time in NY

Can we get an idea of what the cap will look like for the upcoming season?

I understand the difficulty in that task, so I did some outsourcing.

I think mouser's post in general should be helpful. Just choose you're growth %age.

Yeah, discussing with RR and TP now. It'll go up, at least.

When is a good trade deadline for everyone? Thursday evening?

:panthers CAMPBELL TRADED TO VANCOUVER

The Florida Panthers have traded defenseman Brian Campbell to the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Chris Tanev, and forwards Nicklas Jensen and David Booth. Florida also retains 2M$ of Campbell's salary.

"We thank Campbell for everything he did for the organization and we wish him all the best in Vancouver. We are thrilled to add another great RW prospect in Jensen. We expect him to battle for a roster spot next season. Tanev is a very good young defenseman and the fact that he is right-handed is a plus. Finally, Booth returns where he had the best moments in his career. He will get top 6 minutes and will benefit from a fresh start.

In other news, Jared Boll is now officially a member of the Florida Panthers. Steve Pinizzotto, Jesse Winchester and Matt Gilroy have been assigned to San Antonio. Jordan Caron has been recalled.

Western Conference RFAs

:nhl

Western conference teams, send me offers for your RFAs.

Please try to keep all your offers in one PM, and include if it's a 1 or 2-way contract. If you don't want to offer a contract, please let me know if you just want to qualify a player.

Won't be around on Thursday night but I don't have any problem with it considering that I will have time to make my final moves before.

In-season agent for UFAs

You know the way it works, most UFA will test the market (especially the big names).

To save you some time, wait after the playoffs to send your offers unless it's obvious that the player wants to be back (link).

If you acquire a player set to become an UFA, you will have to overpay to get him signed prior to free agency.
