The Kings announce two trades

First of all, LA deals Kyle Clifford to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Matt Niskanen, while the Penguins retain 600k of Niskanen's salary. His cap hit to LA will be 1.7 million

Secondly, LA trades Robyn Regehr to the New York Islanders for PM Bouchard and a 2014 6th round pick. The Islanders retain 1 million of Bouchard's cap hit, who will have a cap hit of 1 mil to LA

Getting a franchise center and a top 6 physical forward is actually quite good. Edmonton won't end up a bottom 5 team in this game IMO.

There are only 3 sub .500 teams when scoring the first goal. New Jersey (.250), Edmonton (.125), and Buffalo (.000).

They are the only team in the west that has a sub .500 record vs. the east.

They lead the league in one statistical category... most goals against allowed.

I've watched a lot of ****** Oilers hockey. I can safely say that this seasons may be the worst in the past 4 years. They've gone completely backwards. I'd say, realistically, there are 2 teams that are worse, maybe 4, but one of them doesn't have a 1st round pick.

They'll be picking within the first 5 picks this year.

:panthers ACQUIRE STOLL AND ZYKOV

The Florida Panthers have traded forward Kris Versteeg to the Los Angeles Kings for forwards Jarret Stoll and Valentin Zykov. Florida also retains 1M$ of Versteeg salary.

"Going into a rebuild, our biggest weakness in our prospect pool was at RW. After Mark Stone yesterday, we are glad to add Zykov who we feel has all it takes to become a top 6 forward in the NHL. We will also welcome Stoll with open arms considering that we had a big hole at C after the trades of Matthias, Goc and Gomez. We wish Versteeg all the best in LA."

You're talking about real life. Only 20 games yes but Giroux and Simmonds would change completely the face of the franchise (in this game).

LA confirms. Trading Zykov was very hard but with Toffoli, Vey, Weal, Shore, Pearson, and Prokhorkin in pro hockey and Fasching playing great at Minnesota we felt we could part with Zykov. And Stoll isn't what he was anymore.

The fundamental problems with the Oilers are still there however. Simmonds is something the Oilers could really use and will add a nice element to the top 6, but otherwise the issues I've seen with the Oilers this year are still there.

Its a good thing those last 20 games are all 8-point games. They just may finish 5th in the division.

Looking to go all in by adding a legit 2nd line center and either top 6 winger or PP QB. All prospects including Horvat, Shinkaruk, Jensen, Gaunce and Corrado are available as well as young NHL'ers Kassian, Tanev and Schroeder. PM me if you're interested in talking trade.

Gaustad, Cullen and Legwand remain OTB. Looking for an ok prospect for the first two. Legwand will not be had for a mediocre prospect.

Shea Weber remains OTB. I'll also take offers on Kevin Klein.

Both my 2014/15 1sts and prospects not named Forsberg remain OTB for forward help.

Had to go to the hospital with the GF. Will take a look at my PMs in the next few hours but will only be able to answer tomorrow (yeah I know, my phone sucks).

Even if I sold off Hemsky, Smyth, Smid, and one the main 4 , I didn't think I'd be definitively worse than Buffalo, Philly, Florida, or Calgary, assuming they sell. It was Ekblad or bust, and I don't see Ekblad as a #1, and won't be a #2 for years.

Aside from Weber, who I don't think I could get, I didn't see the type of dman that could fix my problems. I think Giroux and Simmonds will take a ton of pressure off the kids while giving a massive upgrade of Gagner. Our top 6 looks like a contending team, and I can rebuild the bottom 6 effectively through shrewd acquisition.

I was never going to acquire an elite goalie, but I do think I can find a top 15 one.

My defense is awful, but by the end of the game, ill have begun to answer that as well. Petry, Nurse, and Schultz are the nucleus, but it is definitely going to take more.

The oilers can't be fixed in one offseason.

NYI steal.

And Smith should be on the NHL roster...he's seriously underrated.

Had no room for him in my forward lineup, this is what it looks like:

Lucic-Krejci-Iginla
Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson
Kelly-Helm-Ryder
Greening-Gomez-Boyes

:yo:

Would put Smith on LW over Kelly, drop Kelly to 4C and ditch Gomez-Boyes...you really want those two on your fourth line? Greening-Kelly-xxx would have been awesome, though.

Anyways, I'm liking my roster, but Kulemin could be had in exchange for a mid-range defensive D. Gardiner could be had in a package for a similar young C. Won't consider any offers for Kessel, JVR, Rielly, Bernier, or Kadri. Go ahead on other players, though.
