BTW, Kypreos just delivered the most accurate insightful monologue I've probably ever heard on the air, about 1 hour ago as guest on CJCL Sportsnet 590. Sounded a bit vicious yet totally a spot-on analysis of what happened and what the way forward should be.

You don’t get to tell everyone they are wrong when the say it’s a bad idea to spend half the cap on 4 forwards.

You don’t get to bet your job on a core that can’t win in the 1st round 5 times in a row.

Have the NHL create arguably the easiest division since the Norris, with a 56 game season, no US teams, no travel outside of Canada.

Play a team that is ranked 18th overall in the NHL first round, be up 3-1 and still lose.

Make franchise money to not score goals.

You don’t get to do all that and keep your job as GM.

Didn't Dubas say he bet his job on it ?? Well guess what, you lost. Good-bye.

He did last year after losing to Columbus. A team that lost half its players to UFA that year.

Fortunately Montreal’s no. 1 center was Danault or we might not have gotten 7 games.
But hey, we took them to 7 games right??? That must mean something.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

There's no way he's not gone. Dude bet the future on this season as well and won 0 series. The cap crunch doesn't get any better this year as well. Then next year you lose Riley and it's basically rebuild time.

At least they'll have 35 year old Tavares making 11 mil a year in 2024 though

Should have traded for Bennett (yeah he was dumb to get suspended) when we told you but Shanny/Dubas were dead set on Foligno. I was OK with Foligno but he was damaged goods and past his best before date. Another bad trade for Kyle. The Nash trade was also bad but not as painful. Hutton might be worth hanging on to. Rittich was insurance but we paid too much for and is most likely gone.

And I thought Andy was the reason why we kept losing "game 7s".

When the team was doing well with these veterans and grit this season, there were people saying Shanahan took control and added needed elements. Now when it fell apart, people are after Dubas?
Just goes to show people will shift goal posts to blame Dubas.

Fire Dubas. The makeup of this roster is trash. How can you not ease in more draft picks over the past 4 years that actually contribute? Look at the lineup. It looks like some good pieces held together with a lot of duct tape. Stop overrating guys like Hyman. He's 2nd line material only.

When the team was falling in the playoffs after blowing a 3-2 lead to Boston people were happy to blame Babcock and called for his head while giving the players and management a full pass. Now fast forward 3 years and the leafs blew a 3-1 lead to the 18th best team in the NHL with Philiph Danult as their 1C, people are shifting the blame to the players and excusing management?

Just goes to show you how so many posters here are fans of Kyle Dubas rather than the team. They're fine with us continously losing and failing

Dubas said after last year he bet his job that this core could win and he could fix the issues. He made his moves and we saw that we lost again. There isn't another team that would hire Dubas once he gets fired. His fans just keep on defending him despite the league being a resulted oriented practice. People are happy with the PR moves we make and how well we come across rather than building a team that can win

I was rooting for the Leafs to beat the Habs, thanks a lot Toronto. Do you know what this means for Montreal? It means Marc Bergevin will not be fired. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well I thought Foligno trade was good but I had no idea his back was in such bad shape .. you could see him in pain every stride .. if Dubie knew he had this back issue then it was a bad deal .. no idea if he got tricked or not .. but in hindsight it was an awful deal not for giving up a late 1st rounder in worst draft ever but not getting someone else who could have helped out

Dreger just said “In fairness to Foligno he was never healthy since coming to Toronto”

We paid top dollar for damaged goods, that’s inexcusable

If true for sure, totally agree

But I don't buy anything Dreger says, I'm listening to him and he sounds like he's doing damage control for the players he has relationships with
