Kings looked absolutely gassed tonight and still came out with a point thanks to Quick’s fantastic goaltending. Very entertaining game, despite the Kings being outplayed. Hopefully the kings get some rest and look fresh for the next game.

Carter looked pretty gases for the first time since he came back. Just never had that extra gear tonight.

Tonight, we got both a point and this

Not even mad really, that shot by Rakell was something else, good lord. Like that Staal shot a few weeks ago, but also in full stride with a screen.

3 points on a b2b, just have to do some more damage.

Wish I’d spoken up 48 hours ago, I’d have looked like a genius. Figured they’d take 3 of 4, but the caveat was they’d give up the extra point to Anaheim. A fair exchange I guess.

Just disappointing with the type of years that Kopitar, Doughty and Brown have had, how awesome Carter has been since returning and the team is going to allow the fewest goals in the league and we are still not locked into a playoff spot.

Pearson, Toffoli and Kempe have been crap for much of the 2nd half. Very disappointing, especially TP and TT.

Agreed with this. There seems to be some level moods in here after the game. I wasn't sure what I would see in reactions.

Dynamics of this game with Ducks being behind Kings, at home, and facing a back 2 back Kings club were all in their favor. Still even with that the Kings almost took 2 pts which would have pretty much grabbed 3rd place. Still with so many interlocking games left Kings should be OK and only out of town 3pt games really hurt. (Damn Knights, who wouldn't want to face them in first round)

Anyway I'm chronically biatching about a pro league that schedules so many key divisional games in the last couple weeks and then compounds it with the audacity of having one club so often influenced by back 2 backs. Just to review the Kings a week ago faced a fresh Oilers club. The Ducks faced a fatigued Oilers club in a back 2 back. Only a week later its the same damn script. Ducks fresh, face back 2 back club. How often do they get this advantage? (Understanding that when this schedule was made it would be thought that all 3 clubs would be battling for positions.)

Finally how many Kings fans are paying the bills at Honda?

Being that I'm never done what kind of shit advertising is it having your corporate name on the rink of such a despicable club? Random comment, but maybe worth a laugh.

Disappointing is a good word. This game serves as demonstration of why.

The Kings mortgaged on staying pretty much stand pat adding Reider and not much offensively and convincing themselves that Carter was a down the stretch add on. They chose to make the major addition on D.

The Ducks are a different tale sacrificing D for an added Henrique.

So that both clubs going different ways. Ducks feeling they needed to bolster offense and Kings feeling they needed better D.

In a game like this particularly the Kings generally got the saw off they would be looking for. They were able to make it a low scoring tilt and limit Ducks scoring being a factor. But to notch an early goal and not get another one the whole way from anybody and including supporting cast is disappointing. Its disappointing in the first place that I would describe Toffoli as supporting cast at this point.

Kings need somebody else digging in. My big question in this game was who was going to be hero tonight as Kopitar and Carter have been doing that assignment for weeks. Looks like nobody got that done.

+35 goal differential and we are fighting for a playoff spot, that's insane.

The main problem are the losses within the conference and not Toffoli and Pearson.

Toffoli has 24 goals and hit 3 posts lately. He will never drive the play, he is a goalscorer and he has just done that.

Pearson was getting a lot better lately. He has screened a lot of goals, has been on the scoreboard a lot more in the 2nd half of the season and because of him the Kings scored 2 goals vs. Edmonton. The outcome was just dissapointing. How is that crap.

Kempe's goalscoring drought isnt helping. Thats crap.

^Its strange but I've seen almost every Kempe goal this season and haven't seen half of Toffoli's. To hear he has 24 actually surprised me.

Anyway, some vignettes from the frozen north in Edmonton to warm you all up..

Still snowing, still wearing down snow shovels, -25C over night, windchill, and the Oilers realistically speaking out of the playoffs for months. Been a longish winter here..it started early and ending late. Feel like we're putting in winter overtime.

Yesterday the average high would be +8. It was -15.

All the California teams find ways to complain about the scheduling, I know Sharks fans always claim they send more teams down for back to backs vs. SoCal teams than they receive. Ducks fans are not happy about the Kings getting 3 home games vs. teams that played in Anaheim the night before. But when the Ducks were chasing the Kings they benefitted big time, in March the Ducks played 5 teams who had played the night before in LA. They went 5-0-0 in those games, the Kings went 2-2 vs. those same teams.

Toffoli needs a career wake-up call that will probably come this summer in the form of a trade. This guy shoots the puck way to well and saw way to much PP time the last two seasons to be a 20-25 goal guy.

Can’t beat up on the squad for getting 3/4 pts in the b2b scenario. You could see the Kings were just trying to get to OT from about halfway through the game.

I am worried about their poor breakouts and board play in the offensive zone. I think that is what Stevens was calling out in his post game and my guess is he was referring to TP and TT.

Heck of a shot by Rakell to win it.

Noticed Lafallo wasn't playing, how long is he expected to be out? Hes 1 of the king players that has really caught my eye this season(outside of kopitar/doughty/quick seasons).

Good game tonight, hopefully we can both beat up on the Avs this week and a couple upsets in round 1 and have a date in round 2 ;)

I'm not too worried about the Colorado/Dallas games. I feel like we can win those two fairly easily.

It's the Minnesota game I'm nervous for. That'll be a battle.

Can’t believe the amount of complaints about last night.

The Arizona game was a war. The Ducks had an advantage in freshness and like Hayward talked about, played probably their best game in two weeks. Still barely won.

I was disappointed when Kempe and Pearson couldn’t capitalize in the final 30 seconds tho. Only cause that would have been delightfully painful to the Ducks.

Pearson isn't a top 6 winger. I'm bringing back the Trent Klatt argument and applying it to Pearson.

in my book, not calling penalties is just as bad as calling non-penalties

we have rules for a reason, teams need to have expectations of what's allowed and what isn't going into every single game, it shouldn't change night to night

i don't think it was biased one way or another, i just don't think it's right
Remind me to never read your book, ever.

Wow, Stevens is doing everything but literally call out Toffoli and Pearson by name. "Young guys who aren't young need to become leaders".

They need to really step it up. There's flashes, but it's still very clear they need to re-figure out their game.

Ducks got lucky that our team was on a b2b.

I'm gonna say this though, Carter has the goal scoring touch for sure but his skating has been really off.
