4 games ago, the Kings were 8th in the West in points%. Right now they're 9th. A big 2 points in Minnesota, a big point in Winnipeg, Kopitar's 4 goals in Colorado, and they lost ground in the damn playoff race because they can't beat the Oilers.

4 combined regulation losses to Vancouver and Edmonton this year. That's a huge 8 possible points where they got 0.

So we should just keep the status quo if they miss again?
i'd like to see a few games with (theoretically) vilardi in the lineup but i wouldn't be averse to some changes

a few teams have proven that "even" trades can be beneficial, sometimes you gotta try it

Ugh you just know the Ducks are going to destroy the Oilers tomorrow on a back to back. Kings seem to always have such a bad record when they can control their own destiny.

Calgary's pretty much given up shutting Monahan down should be a good game

So a team out of the playoff race missing a good player AND we're at home?

Yep, we're f***ed!

Is that going to be the excuse this season?

I really hope Blake thinks otherwise.

I mean, TBL missed the playoffs last year for a similar reason, so yeah, that's a pretty good god damn excuse.

Missing a 60-point center most of the year has crippled many a team never mind one as relatively offensively shallow as the Kings, who rely mightily on Kopitar and Carter for scoring.

However, if we stumble down the last few games here, it's not an excuse at all.

Yes because other teams don’t have injuries. Kesler can barely move, Thornton been out forever.

This team missed the playoffs in 2015, won 1 playoff game in 2016, missed the playoffs in 2017 and are currently out of the playoffs in 2018 but yes, the only thing wrong with the team was because of an injury.

A better effort?? Seriously? They played much better than in Winnipeg

They play down or below the level of opponents who aren’t in playoff contention. How many times have we seen them play subpar hockey? It’s been too often in the past four years. There’s a reason why they haven’t won a round of playoff hockey since 2014, and it isn’t because of the opponents.

So your saying a healthy Carter changes nothing? Really?

it's not the only thing wrong, it's just a big thing wrong

3+ wins is 6+ points is a comfortable playoff spot

Funny that you're using the teams literally right next to us and within a couple of points as an example that injuries don't matter when they have almost exactly the same results. Your argument just shot itself in the face.

So teams not in playoff contention are just expected to roll over?? It's still the NHL boys

Ofcourse he does. But let’s not also forget how well Kempe played in that role.

And other teams battle injuries too. If this weren’t 4 straight years of crap maybe I would buy the injury excuse but this is par for the course since 2014

Having Carter for those 55 games would EASILY be worth 3 more wins. And that is being VERY conservative. If you want to ignore that well, go ahead.

The only issue is that since Carter has been back, they are 0-3-1 against Edmonton, Chicago, and Arizona. 8 possible points against teams long out of a playoff spot, and they got 1. There is 0 guarantee that this team easily wins 3 additional games with Carter all year. It's nice to think it, but there's nothing easy with this team.

This year Carter, last year quick year before playoffs hmmmmm go figure, injuries to star players DO affect things

A week ago the Ducks were three points up on us. Then they fell behind us, now we’re tied. It’s almost like it’s hard to get ahead in the NHL. Instead of acting like the world is ending, how about waiting to see how it ends before slitting our wrists? Nah. Better do it now.
