This management team is doing a piss poor job of managing their assets. I would love to see Kopitar play only at even strength and on the power play, and maybe 19-20 minutes a game to see if he would actually drive to the net when he is on the ice.
I would like to see the Kopitar PK minutes go to Kempe or Grundstrom. Kempe sucks at faceoffs, but who cares? Coaching staff should be working with him on faceoffs, and this would be a good opportunity to apply what he should be learning during practice in game situations where the final score doesn't matter. The Kings used to deploy three sets of forwards on the PK. Kopitar and Brown, Stoll and Lewis, and Richards and Carter, and their PK ice time was very evenly distributed.
Kopitar has gotten older and has more mileage on him, and still sees the most short-handed minutes among forwards, and the Kings don’t roll out as many sets of forwards on the PK as they used to.
Practice?! This team?I would like to see the Kopitar PK minutes go to Kempe or Grundstrom. Kempe sucks at faceoffs, but who cares?
