Virtually every former Philadelphia star athlete is booed unless they were universally beloved (guys like Gagne, Iverson, Dawkins, etc.). Not terribly different than McNabb or Pat Burrell. They get their montage during the first commercial time out, and move on. Just how it works in Philly. You have to remember that a fair number of people in this city booed Ryan Howard when his foot exploded making the last out of the season. My favorite such disposition is Jayson Werth.

Pretty much.

Carter could have saved the fans themselves from a burning arena tonight and they would have booed him on the way out. NBD.

We had our flaws, and the reffing was ridiculous, but we pulled it off and the win felt good. Kings identity :)

That first goal by Carter felt incredible, so glad it was him. The almost goal by them felt even better. Nothing better than hearing an opposing team's horn but not get the goal against. That set us up for some angry Flyers, and the rest was history.

Not pretty but we got it done. Happy to get the two. On to Washington!

Why do you think Kopitar is laughing?

Looks like he finally got something to "pass"....

I always find it funny when **** is going rough for the opposing team and their fans have to say, "Well, at least those bandwagon fans in LA can stick around after a win!" We really are among the most hated teams on here and I love it.

It was the 07 season that got me on the bandwagon.

Apparently Carter missing an open net had everything to do with the Hawks beating the Flyers in the SCF, and Leighton's crappy goaltending had nothing to do with it.

Box score is pretty interesting. Sutter was clearly playing the roster for a 3 games in 4 days stretch.

Kopitar and Carter got 18 mins, but the other key forwards got ~15.

On Philly, Giroux (23 mins), Simmonds, Hartnell, Voracek all got upwards of 20 (or more) mins.

Pretty nice that we got the win but didn't burn out all the players.

Having Richards on the 4th line is pretty important on this road trip - it gives Sutter the opportunity to play those guys 10+ mins and balance out the TOI.

I have questions...

- What the **** is wrong with Couturier's face?
- Why can't Kopitar score gimmies when the goalie isn't even looking?
- What kind of fire is Brayden Schenn in his own zone? Car, dumpster, or warehouse?
- What the hell are Voynov's sticks made out of? Golden Grahams?
- Will the LA defense ever stop scoring goals on Quick?

In closing: LOLidelphia. That team passed the puck to us in their zone as much as they passed to their teammates. Terribad.

- He kissed a hobo.
- He's allergic.
- Gentlemen's club.
- Most Russians use Warrior. He needs to take a hint.
- Doubtful.

wha?.... no love for Dr J? maybe the most recognizable philly player ever.

Over the last 10 games or so, the Kings have been playing an uncharacteristically undisciplined game at times. It's a lot of fun to watch, but it's also a cause for concern.

just got back from the two hr drive after the game. Flyers' fans are unique! Most of the fans I talked to were happy to see Carter and Richards. There were an immense amount of Richards fans.

The boos were just something for them to do...did anyone expect them to cheer when 77 or 10 touched the puck.

The good.....Kings win and my son had a good time! Going to try and hit the Caps game tomorrow.

What makes me really wonder is what the **** happened to Schenn this guy was projected to be a super star. What happened to him and his game.

The Kings took their foot off the gas pedal and it almost cost them. But you should see how many Flyers fans think they would've won had Mason been in net. I guess giving up 41 shots and constantly playing in their own zone is their game plan. Rope-a-dope doesn't win big unless you're Muhammad Ali.

Watching them, it's obviously a case of standings not telling the whole story. Offensively they are great, but as a team they are not in the class of the Kings. Of course they play in the JV circuit that is the East, so that helps them. Anyway, until they fix that defense, they'll get invited to the big dance, but won't be prom king.

You point?

not gonna speak for him. but maybe hes trying to say that at 22 years old hasn't reached his peak just yet?

try naming a few players who were "superstars" in the league at just 22 years old. and then try comparing them to schenn. you cant compare schenn to the guys who were superstars at 22. hes not that good and was never expected to be that good.

who thought he was gonna be a superstar???

Yeah, the kid is still young. Tho his playing style reminds me of Stu Barnes.

I live just outside of Philly and I understand we boo guys but last night was ridiculous. I understand if he scored a goal, you'd boo pretty heavily after that. When Burrell came back he was cheered. They didn't give him a boo every time he came up for an at bat only if he got a hit. You give the guy a cheer the first time and then you boo if they get a hit. The next at bat, you pretend like he's anyone else. In hockey, it's the same, you boo if he scores but otherwise, he's like any other player. The fact that people were booing Richards and Carter every time they touched the puck is embarrassing. That is stuff that is reserved for the most hated players (Crosby for the Flyers). Both of them signed long term contracts and committed their careers to Philly. They worked their ***** off in games and they got as close as anyone to giving Philly a championship.

The only excuse I keep hearing is "that's philadelphia". No, **** that. When did Philly start booing players just for the sake of booing? When did we start booing guys who played their heart and soul out for us night in and night out? As a fan of other Philly teams, I'm going to be disgusted if I see my fellow fans doing this. Philadelphia or not, this **** is ridiculous.

If Richards and Carter don't win the Cup, especially within almost a year to the day they were traded, I don't think you hear as many boos. It's just the way it all happened that feeds into it. As soon as they leave, that's when they win.

Before the Kings actually won, you could barely get through a thread without seeing the names Moulson and Purcell. They wouldn't get the boos when they returned, but that's because they never meant that much to the Kings or Kings fans(other than Lombardi being an idiot). The Kings never got close to anything with those guys. There was no emotional tie to them.

I was at the game last night, and a good number of the Flyer fans around me were wondering why they were being booed. It's silly, but it's hockey, and it's a couple hours of entertainment.

Crazy how many kids had Kings jerseys on. It was weird. I started liking the Kings in the late 80's when I was around 9 or 10, which was also weird, since that was before the internet, and all the other stuff. Much easier today to be able to do that, but still, a surprising number of Kings fans in total, and especially the kids. It was nice though, brought back memories.

My favorite moment of the game is right after Carter was called for "cross checking" and Alec's goal was waived off, the fans started chanting yeah you suck to the refs. Like they weren't already being gifted the game. :shakehead

But whatever, I'm sure they were all drunk as piss anyways.

It really blew my mind that the fans in attendance thought they were getting jobbed but I guess they didn't have the angles we did. The Carter call nullifying Alec's goal (poor Alec, guy is en fuego :() was bogus enough that it should invalidate a lot of minor complaints on their part.

I just watched the replay and man that was a fun game all around! I guess it's easy to see why the Pens got suckered into playing punch-counterpunch with the Flyers, though. They're explosive, but their D is also turnover machines.

Edit: I also thought Emery played well, tbh. I think we would have done just as much damage to Mason.
