The last time Kopitar had this kind of season, and the Kings missed the playoffs, well I guess you could argue it hasn't happened. Knock on wood. Maybe his 2nd and 3rd years in the league. 07-08 was a 7 goalie year though, with LaBarbera and Aubin leading the way. 08-09, they were the 5th worst team in the league.

If he ends up with a career year across the board, and they still don't make it, that'll be quite disappointing. Won't be on him though.

Good game? Yes.
Spectucular? No.
Last night, most of the shots were aimed directly at him.
However, the best thing that he did, was NOT allowing any rebound.
Anyway, good game, and good 2 points.
Need a few more games to evaluate.

I really hope Quick works on his puck-handling this offseason. Watching other goalies like M. Smith, Price, etc, really shows how big a part a goalie plays in zone breakouts. We can all attest to the fact that Quick almost NEVER has clean passes/setups to our D and other forwards carrying the puck out of our zone. I really think this needs to be a focus for Quick.

Some fans here are bi polar too.

I dont think Campbell is the answer for the back up position but will give him a shot.

7 minutes in and some called him shaky already with bad positioning and slow lateral movement...

After 7 minutes...

After the game, he suddenly was steady again.

Meh, can't judge him by one NHL start. Anytime a goalie gets to work with Bill Ranford, it's going to be a bonus.

Look at guys like Budaj and Kuemper. I am sure they benefited from his expertise/wisdom.

If he hasn't done anything about it by now, not sure he'll start. Some guys just aren't good at it either, no matter what they do. Everyone can't be good at everything. Maybe all of his ratings points were put into athleticism by the overlords that made this simulation.

Fun to take four points against these guys. Awesome for Campbell to step in and play well.

We've never had an answer for Reaves physically outside of Regher checking him behind the net and almost into LA Live. Now is the time to take his number and settle it up next pre-season or early regular season with MacDermid.

The hit on Forbort was completely clean with the penalty call being a byproduct of the wussification of the NHL. The "rough" on Doughty was pretty garbage as well and is just the refs targeting a guy. I have zero problem with Gallant losing his mind over it and also zero problem with him giving Reaves all those minutes at the end since they are firmly in first place and could be playing us in Round 1. Even in today's watered down NHL, you still "send messages" when it makes sense against a possible playoff opponent.

Now, all the Stevens haters have to acknowledge that it was awesome to call a time out when up by two goals and being on a 5-on-3 power play late. Great gamesmanship made even better by the easy goal scored afterwards. Speaking of goals...the Kopitar one was ridiculous.

Some cold water for those "admitting they were wrong" about this team after the last two games: they had a great win at Winnipeg and followed it up with two clunkers. Hopefully the continued integration of Carter/Reider and then Lewis at some point can get them to stop being so streaky between W/Ls.

Oh, and don't send Amadio down.

I missed it last night, but sounds like the Kings had a great game. They are going to have to start building momentum if they are going to make some noise in the playoffs.

Great post... but this really bother me a lot...

How come we cannot have a guy like MacDermid or any enforcer on our team, when our 3rd/4th line are not really that productive??

Keep cool and get the 2 points are the most important, I understand that.. but last night situation, obviously Reaves was there to cause injury, and we could easily got 2 - 3 injures out of one period. Luckily, yes, luckily we did not.
2 points are important, but no way it has more value than possibly injury.

I am pretty old school, I admit. You touch my man you can't get out of the rink.

I'm not comfortable having a goon on defense. Fourth liner great face puncher to replace Clifford, yes.

Here's the thing, Reaves costs so much because there isn't anyone thats his equal

I'm part of the War Department here at Kings HF so you are preaching to the choir, however, the 3rd and 4th lines are playing well and the Kings need points right now which is why they can unleash MacD on him in the pre-season, if he is even on Vegas next year.

I love MacD, but he isn't good enough yet. Clifford's fighting career took a nosedive after Reaves KO'd him so it would be bad news for Clifford to take him on again.

I hated watching him run around last night but it is what it is. I would of liked to have seen Martinez with a very solid two hander to the back of his knees after the Kopitar hit but again, it is what it is. This is what Reaves does and, unfortunately, it isn't the 80s, 90s and early 00's anymore so there aren't many players in the league that can play a regular shift and handle him.

Is there anyone who can counter Reaves ? His value is higher than every enforcer because there isn't his equal.

I vehemently disagree with opinions based on the premise that the bottom 6 isn't producing.

To me, the biggest problem is the top 6 outside of Kopitar.

Thanks for your response.

The line of Amadio/Andreoff/Brodzinski was pretty good during the tough 7-game road trip, but unfortunately only Amadio could stay.

Agree that, it is what it is.
For the past 2 games it was the old war horses carring the team again... Kopi, Carter, Doughty, Brown, and now mixing Phaneuf... we need the younger ones to step up. Toffoli could score a goal here and there but no consistent. Pearson, how many games he doesn't have a point?

Hope they keep up the good work after these 2 games against LV.

You're right about that. Now that Stoll is out of the league, nobody is better at taking soul crushing, game losing penalties than Reaves is. Thanks for the 4 points, jerkoff.

Still a long way to go for Campbell, but I love how a couple years ago he was called a bust.

Kings do a great job developing goalies.

Yep. I'm looking forward to what our goalie development people do with Wedgewood's potential.

How do you figure there's no one else like him? Matt Martin. Tom Wilson. Milan Lucic. Just a few guys off the top of my head. All idiot goons who don't do much else although Lucic has toned it down a lot as he's gotten older.

Yep, the bottom six is fine, especially with how much Lewis has contributed and we are seeing Mitchell and Amadio putting up some points.

That secondary production from Toffoli and Pearson has been flat for the most part. Those two in particular need to get going. Kopitar has carried a bulk of the offense on his back and has done so alongside Dustin Brown.

The blueline has been fairly productive as well.

I was happy to see the Kings stick together against Las Vegas. The only real way you can stop Reaves form running Kopitar and Doughty is to run their top players. LA could dress 7 defense men against certain teams, to get MacDermid in the line up. If not, they should look to trade either Clifford or Andreoff, to open a spot for a enforcer.
