The Kings AND the Oilers have had issues with the challenge all year. So it's not at all surprising that they BOTH found a way to lose this challenge on the same play
Oilers fan, hope its OK to still chime in here after, you guys were great pregame in the talk and again I like the KINGS but this post was lol funny. Yeah, nailed it.
Anyway like I said earlier the Oilers were going to bring it in this one because they've been rounding into spoiler form and McD and Drai have been lights out lately. Trouble for the Kings in this game was getting behind and getting caught on counters several times. The game against Dallas, where you don't score the whole game, at home, it starts getting in players heads where they lack the confidence to let the game come. Instead LA trying to force things and then being exposed on the counter goals.
I hate to say this, and mean well with this but it is a compliment to the Kings game and brand that the Oilers are trying to do something similar and playing it like that. Both teams really like to hit, the few times the Oilers play well their gap coverage and puck support is good, and when the Oilers play well they do some of the same things as the Kings.
Anyway I think when Carter gets settled in he gives you that important goal you really need and the Kings should be fine. 20 games left, he wasn't going to be magic in the first one back but he showed enough that he's there. He really popped an Oiler in the first period, just hammering hit that showed me he's ready to go. Then he got hammered by Nurse and so welcome back to NHL. Carter got two looks in the third that he's more likely to finish if he's in form. The good news is Toffoli got a goal. As bad as he's looked he's a streak scorer as you all know.
Last comment, and this might not get as much focus but the Kings really miss the steady contribution of Trevor Lewis. Theres some guys on the bench, and on the ice that just help the team in all ways. Lewis has often been that for the Kings. Every good team needs some guys like him.
Good luck and really cheering for Kings to make the playoffs.
