You guys think this is Blake's tanking strategy? To ice two defensemen in top 4 roles that he knows are going to cost this team every time they step foot on the ice?
The defense is Doughty (who made a lotlof boneheaded plays this year, the average Martinez and the rest is just professional tankers???

Which two are the tanking masters to you? Phaneuf and Forbort? Forbort and LaDue?

What was their record last year? Guessing an unsustainable good record. Got behind all of the time last season.

I don't remember the exact number, but they were among the best in coming from behind. But they gave up the first goal in like 62% of their games last year.

None of those guys are top 4 d-man with the possible exception of Miller. I don't like to comment on players I haven't seen much of, but I've seen Hults and Anderson. Both have a long long way to go to be top 4 d-man in the NHL. It's more likely they never make the league than make it as top 4 guys.

LaDue is 26 years old and in and out of the lineup.
McKeown is 23 and in the AHL
Roy is 24 and just getting taste of the NHL on a bottom feeder team.

This is just like the forwards when people celebrate because we have drafted so many NHL 4th liners. Defense are just like forwards. Give me one Charlie McAvoy over three LaDue's or Roy's.

You can be optimistic all you want, but the reality is the best d-man LA has drafted in the last decade is Colin Miller. We can split hairs on whether he is truly a top 4 or not, but if hes the best d-man you draft over a decade things probably are going to be as ugly as theyve been for the Kings the last 5 years.

Anderson has made great strides this past season and i'll stick to my opinion that he's ahead of any Dman we've drafted the last couple years..
Cernak is playing top 4 on a cup contending team as we speak!
Miller ^^^
McKeown, well you seem to not have read my comment. Put him back on our team and he's at worse our #5. The Carolina Hurricanes are decent with their defensive corps so that could be why he's still in the AHL

^^^ Thats 3 guys that could have really helped this club instead of being moved in ill advised trades...

Kopitar's slow methodical zone entry attempts never seem to work, It's like he is not capable of handling the puck at speed. Kempe/Leipsec are constantly able to gain zone entries, maybe we should change the late game/powerplay units. Because the Kopitar/Doughty/Brown/Carter set up has noone capable of generating a controlled zone entry and they just end up wasting time turning the puck over.

Carter is still irrelevant.

I thought Carter looked great.

Honestly if you play bad it's better to just suck as the Kings do this season.
At least high picks could help to get some new decent prospects to the organization.

If Carter/Kopitar had a lights out year we would just end in the middle of the NHL without anything to look forward to.

If the boys plan was to play so bad that no one will want to trade for them, well its working to an absolute tee

I don't disagree that all those trades were horrendous, I think most people acknowledge the Kings were one of the worst managed teams in the league for three years.

Even if those trades had never been made the Kings drafting over the last decade has been historically bad.
