GDT: GM#58 LA Kings vs Buffalo Sabres @10:00AM

Beat a team that looked like they are last place for a reason.

I’ll take the two points tho.

Hopefully Chicago doesn’t get “up” for LA.

Every goal against Quick is a soft goal. Average goals against in the league is obviously 0.00.

It was nice to see the opposing goalie give up a couple of softies:

1. the one-knee kneel-down at the post opens up several holes down lot .... and up high for that matter

2. the poke check only works when you use your entire stick - not just up to the paddle.

To everyone who saw my heat map the other day, notice where that goal came from; Right side, Forbort on the ice.
your point makes absolutely no sense at all. At least to me. So, the play comes down on Forbort side of the ice first, the puck moves over to the other side from Forbort and a wide open Sabres player with no back pressure of coverage from an F blasts the puck past Quick while Forbort correctly guards his man all the way to the net. The "heat" you like to refer to WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE FROM FORBORT.

Forbort actually made the initial play to disarm the Sabre. Maybe he could have placed the puck better but yeah zero support from anyone else around him there particularly the backchecking forward than Iafallo showed the deft scoring touch :sarcasm:

That's just people trying too hard to hate on the scapegoat, Forbort was actually very good today, even made some smart offensive plays.

Thinking about it, you're probably right. It was a drive by comment

Still, Forbort's puck handling leaves so much to be desired.

You see Raccy baby I could have agreed with you and let it go, but the smart offensive play comment is a bridge you cant sell nobody

You can find 8 theoretical regulation losses in their remaining schedule, so this was as close to a mathematical must win as you get. Now we wait to see which team shows up in Chicago.

missed this one and watched the condensed game, pair of nice shots by amadio, reminded me of mike richards type goals for some reason. quick whips towards the net. kids looked good.

bit disappointed that quick let that first one by him though, just don't like seeing him miss "easy" ones unscreened like that. nothing he can do about the 2nd goal and it sounds like he bailed em out of a few in the 3rd.

laughed out loud in the 2nd or 3rd when forbort had a puck and time at the point and he wound up and uncorked the softest slapshot i've ever seen

The first goal was tipped.

Aren’t they on an 8 game losing streak? Let’s see if it gets extended today. Seems like the Kings do like to play the role of slump busters.

Single handedly turned around the Flames season in 14/15. They were on like a 9 game losing streak. We blew a two goal lead in the third, they won it in OT, eventually made the playoffs and we didn’t.

Fun times.

Quick saves 33 of 35 including some really clutch ones and he still gets complaints

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dude needs to stop being vulnerable to hard slapshots getting tipped top shelf in the slot and triple-rebounds.

i guess i'm not seeing the tip but if you guys say so, i'm only working off 1 angle

i feel like he used to be god-tier at stopping those kind of tips though

I've followed Robin Lehner when he was on Ottawa before coming over to Buffalo.

The dude is just a terrible goalie. He should be down playing in the AHL where he belongs.

The first game I ever saw Amadio play was at Ontario during a playoff game, his first pro game right after junior, and a young Mike Richards was the first thing that came to my mind.

Aware yourself, 2:19,

Stepped-into slap shot......that was tipped by a teammate. Good luck with that.

Even if there wasn't a tip, that was a freaking rocket, anyone would have been hard pressed to stop that

Even so, 33 of 35 is .943, that would be the best save percentage in league history if he did that all year. What's our bar for good performance around here? It's not like it was 33 softies either.

Nah, Quick's big claim to fame was stopping the low shots particularly moving laterally across the crease. He also developed a new technique for hugging the post in a way that he could push off it effectively. Other goalies in the league have begun adopting it. High shots were always more effective against him.

Quick at this point In his career is a slightly above average goalie. No consistency in his game anymore has hurt him a lot

Reverse VH is a Jonathan Quick innovation. High shots were always the most effective against him, basically no one could score low in his prime.

True, I also remember him almost never getting beat five hole, and that has changed now too.

Age man, can't do nothing about it.

nah i mean i'm happy with the overall performance, it was just weird to me, at that time, seeing him whiff on a shot like that
