Quick is still pretty good. What hurts him is the lack of good anticipating defenders (Mitchell, Scuderi, Voynov). Our defenders right now aren't bad per say, but they don't anticipate the play well and therefor aren't on the right spot for rebounds. I've noticed that the team is also giving more time to opposition defenders (collapsing more below the circles) so maybe he was better in a system where he was more under pressure...
The fact that, we can't exit the zone against any of the playoff teams or any of the Pacific division teams doesn't help matters. I still believe (other then Toffoli, Pearson returning from the death) that the Kings could use a puck moving defensman that can pass through the middle on a forwards stick. The current defense is great at suppressing opponents (other then the unusual many brain-farts this season) but doesn't recognize where the open ice is...
The Kings game is still too predictable. We kinda suck on cycle since the last cup win. The team used to change positions in the offensive zone and apply plenty of pressure, now we are one and done kind of team. Until we get more of that back we aren't contending for the cup.
I still think the team would be hard to play for any playoff opponent but we aren't anywhere close to as good as we were in 2013,2014 (I didn't put the 2012 intentionally because opponents didn't expect us to be as good).
