Kempe has star potential. Hope he keeps taking strides in the right direction.

Kempe was absolutely flying at times last night, Coyotes couldn't even look up before he was breathing on their visors. He's obviously still ironing out the inconsistencies but when he's on, he is absolute fire.

In 2012, the Canucks were an unbeatable President's Trophy winner with 111 points and a +51 goal differential. Canucks in 5.
In 2012, the Blues were an unbeatable Central Division Champion with 109 points and a +45 goal differential. Blues in 4.
In 2012, the Pacific Champion Coyotes just walked over the unbeatable Hawks with the unbeatable Mike Smith, no way the Kings beat that cinderella story, Yotes in 6.
In 2012, the Devils beat the best the EC had to offer, no way the cinderella kings beat the cinderella devils, devils in 6.

Hockey is a funny thing.
well yes 2012 is the proof of anything can happen but the post i quoted asked not to bring that up so i didn't :D If this team is hot it can beat anyone

For sure. And I know the incoming response is "this isn't the 2012 team" and "stop living in the past" but I agree with you that no one wants a piece of a hot Kings team.

if our best player play like they are capable of this team can go far However is asking them to do so to much to ask/hope for? I dunno if i can answer that honestly

I mean, if I'm being honest, even though Kopitar and Doughty and Quick aren't technically out of their primes, it's very likely we've seen their best hockey. Not because they're bad by any means, but my god, not many players play at the level they were at thru the cup runs. I don't have the expectation that they'll actually do anything of note at all, frankly, but are they capable of it? Absolutely. They're one of the few cores that have proven that. And they'll also be flying under the radar since all the expectations in the world will be on Nashville, VGK. Hopefully they make the playoffs and go in hot as well as loose--nothing to lose.

If not? Well, it'll just be the last Sharks series all over again.

I just want to enjoy the ride.

Our best players were our best players during our cup seasons (in the playoffs). It’s why we won. Don’t forget this team started the season something like 11-2-2, and that was without Carter for about half of it and without knowing what they had in any of these young players.

I agree we may have seen kopitar drew and Quicks best hockey I wasn't thinking them I think our team needs more from Muzzin Martinez Pearson and toffoli these are the player that i think need to get there games to a higher level and if they do it would take pressure off Kopitar and Drew Also need to get something more out of Kempe (who has stepped up this year so far) Amadio, Brodzinski , Ladue and Forbort. If we cang get the next tier of players contributing a bit more it will be easier for the upper tier pressure wise

100% agreed. The highest paid players and veteran core are a given--we need their best. We need the next wave to step up to have any chance whatsoever. I take our best vs. anyone else's best anyday; the odds of actually everyone hitting our best, though, dwindle more and more over time.
