Jesus guys. Yes, it's two points. So ****ing literal.

Yotes were worse in person, I guarantee.

This means nothing regarding "Is this team actually good"? It just shows they shouldn't be drafting 5th overall.

It actually makes losing to this goalie in November make me wonder if they should be drafting 5th overall haha.

If the Kings lost, would you say it means nothing in the overall ability of the team?

I venture a guess that you would not.

one might say that when a team is crushed by the top teams and crushes the cans, they're a team that has a chance at a playoff spot

sorta like..

where they're at in the conference right now.
What chance does said team have in the playoffs?

Please don't point to 2012, you all know this is different.

Not getting super pumped, but this is a game they could have lost 3-2 in a shootout if they wanted. Instead they took care of business in a big way. And suddenly the Kings have won 4 of 6. Something to build on.

Smash a Pacific rival at home--a rival that often gets up to play us as evidenced by winning the last 5 in LA--to golf claps. Fine. But you know if they would have lost this game quite a few posters were already hovering their hands over the nuke option.

Team did what they were supposed to in spades for 60 minutes like they did in the Dallas game. They forced turnovers, everyone played well for the most part, got very strong special teams.

You can only beat who is put in front of you and the Kings didn't just fumble their way to victory, it was a convincing all-around performance.

I'm not planning the parade, but that's a big step in the right direction again and it's ok to smile about it for one night instead of going right back to black storm clouds.

Yes, the Nashville game was beyond ugly, but we've won 3 of the last 4--one against a Calgary team that was absolutely on fire, one against a resurgent Dallas team that was one of the best 5-v-5 teams this year, and one against a team that we should beat but often wrecks us leading to the exact complaints we always have--so stemming that one convincingly should be a good sign rather than 'ho hum'.

And rightfully so, this was a game they had to have, same with EDM on Wednesday and Buffalo on the road trip (Yes, I know all about their well-documented struggles in Buffalo).

If you're bi-polar you're probably really enjoying Kings hockey this season. Kempe needs more minutes, LaDue needs more minutes, Shore needs less minutes, Forbort needs less minutes and the coach is screwed when it comes to who plays in net right now. Kuemper should absolutely start the next game and if he doesn't Stevens should be fired immediately-again.

If you guys want to get jazzed over beating the worst team in the league with a clown goalie, knock yourself out.

Smashing the worst team and getting smashed by the best can also mean black hole. Glad they won and it wasn't close, but I'm not clearing my April calendar because of tonight.

I mean it too: that game from Arizona was the worst I've seen all season. Felt bad for them.

I don't see anyone getting jazzed or saying we're cup contenders (or even playoff bound) because of this win. Just two points in the standings that this team has proven in the past were anything but a lock.

I totally agree there would have been no excuse for losing. Just pointing out that it's very clear looking over this thread that people wanted to be outraged even when the Kings were up 4-0 and only when the game finally ended 6-0 were people like "hmph, exactly what it should have been" instead of just enjoying it.

There's really not a whole lot to criticize in this performance just as there wasn't much positive to be found in the Nashville performance.

I guess people could pile on Forbort and Andreoff if they want to let out their anger over victory though.

maybe you make it and every opponent's 1C, 1D and goalie all go down with torn ACLs

like someone else said, that's why you play the games...

Maybe Luc should look into hiring Jeff Gillooly.

The NHL is very unpredictable. No one should get too low after the Predators loss, or too high after this win.

If the playoffs started today the Kings would be playing the Sharks. A winnable series.

Regardless, I think it's important to make it, not just for the 'anything can happen,' but because that turns kids like Iafallo, LaDue, Amadio into men.
No doubt making the playoffs is beneficial for young players. Our young players, aren't as young as most people would like them to be, and most should already be men.

Nice to see some the flashes of skill from LaDue that are the reason he is in the NHL on display last night.

Oh for sure. I didn't necessarily mean age-wise though I literally said that, haha. I guess I meant in terms of player development. Guys are forged by playoff hockey. I think someone like Iafallo can be a true animal by being his usual menace self on the forecheck and he's very good with limited time and space. LaDue is gonna feel the heat from better teams in the regular season, but how does he handle a game-planned targeted forecheck over 7 games? Amadio is barely getting minutes now but if he had to go toe-to-toe with a Tierney for 7 games that would be good for him. Etc etc. Who doesn't want to see Kempe in games with heightened emotion? I really hope we make it even if it means the black hole this year, because we need to see what kind of players--wilt or shine--the next wave will be.

Glad they beat up the Coyotes, and I mean really beat them up, for once.

I didn't like the idea because it was Domi being a turd, but Pearson fighting is a nice thing to see. Along the veins of the Kempe fight. Standing up for self and team.

It really depends on which team enters the playoffs Lets not pretend when this team is hot its not capable of beating anyone. When its cold it won't win a game I venture to make a guess if we make the playoffs with a winning streak its possible to win a round or two If we slide in on a losing streak were out first round

I think that was in 2012 but not too sure, some still think we won the cup just last season
Meaning,Mike Smith isn't unbeatable and Kings have beatin him in the past and currently. One time against a very good team he was on and Kings went on to the Stanley Cup in 2012.Mike Smith is a good goalie, not great.

In 2012, the Canucks were an unbeatable President's Trophy winner with 111 points and a +51 goal differential. Canucks in 5.
In 2012, the Blues were an unbeatable Central Division Champion with 109 points and a +45 goal differential. Blues in 4.
In 2012, the Pacific Champion Coyotes just walked over the unbeatable Hawks with the unbeatable Mike Smith, no way the Kings beat that cinderella story, Yotes in 6.
In 2012, the Devils beat the best the EC had to offer, no way the cinderella kings beat the cinderella devils, devils in 6.

Hockey is a funny thing.
