Kopitar made some fantastic plays tonight, guys couldn't bury the passes he made all the way across the ice. Yes, it would have been nice if he scored himself, but he was setting dudes up all night...

Were we watching the same game?

I'd like to think so, but if you missed the cross pass from the boards to the high slot to Martinez or the pass when he was coming down the wing and flung it to a wide open winger on the left side, maybe not!

Wasn't his best game, but we were literally shut out. Kinda sad watching people getting ready to crap all over him for a 'cold streak' when he's been near the top of the league in scoring all year despite the extra attention with Carter out despite the toughest zone starts on the team outside the fourth line and despite still playing his monster 200 ft. game. People want to be mad at Kopitar here and it's disgusting.

People want to hate the team in general, night after night. So weird. More important to be right about the team being bad than it is to enjoy successes. Pretty sad.

  • Martin Jones will be starting tonight against his former team. Jones is 11-8-3 on the season with a 2.62 GAA with a .912 save% and 2 shutouts. But Jones has given up 4 goals in each of his last 6 starts going 1-3-2 and a 4.08 GAA and a .868 save%.

Pulling this from my GDT. Maybe its just me, but I don't think Marty broke a sweat after the first period.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm happy with where we sit right now. But we can't have these hot and cold streaks. For whatever reason Vegas won't lose so the Kings need to keep up. I don't want to play the Sharks in the playoffs again.

Big picture, tied for 2nd in the league in total points, 3rd in the West in points%, 5th overall in points%, and 2nd in the Pacific to the conference leading Knights. Kopitar at a 38G, 89pt level. Brown on a 29G, 64pt pace. Toffoli looking at 35G and 55pts. We do take that back in September. Especially if we knew the season would've been over after Carter went down 6 games into the year.

A less than inspiring December though, despite more wins than losses for the month. 1-2 against the Sharks so far. 3-4-2 against the Pacific. 1-2-1 at home against the Pacific, with the only win in the SO against an injured Ducks team, which they came pretty close to losing. 3-3-2 at home against the West. The 3 wins being the Ducks game, and not great efforts against Minnesota and Colorado. They could do well to get the home ice thing figured out.

22-11-4 in total, which is 106 points over 82 games.
5-0-1 with Carter, which is 150 in 82(which obviously wouldn't happen).
17-11-3 without Carter, which is 98 in 82.

15-11-11 on the year in regulation, which is still top 10 in the league.
5-0-1 in regulation with Carter.
10-11-10 in regulation without Carter.

So they've got some OT wins, and that really great start is still helping. They've bought themselves some time to figure out their issues, since they're not chasing 10 teams, but they've got issues to work on.

January is historically a bad month for this team. So, hold onto your butts. Also, the schedule should start to lighten a little. Lot of teams of games in hand on us.

When’s these two play, it’s so tight checking and conservative that whoever scores first has a huge advantage. That, and if you actually have a PP threat. It will continue to be tough on the Kings if they cannot score a PP goal in these games

What I missed was him driving the play thru the middle and to the net. Without him doing that the Kings are hard pressed to win. That was really my only point. He just didn't have it, it happens.

That I 100% agree with.

Gotta credit Vlasic and Braun for some of that though, particularly given they always had a stick or arm on him all night.

Went back and watched again--that Pavelski on Toffoli sequence is truly unbelievable haha. Pavs embellishes, then gets up and slashes toffoli back, then cup check/spears him in the junk, then drops his gloves and jumps Toffoli from behind wrestling him headfirst towards the boards and ground. 4 minutes each. Times like this I wish our team and media made a little bit more noise because can you imagine if that happened to like Mikael Backlund? Or can you imagine the outrage around here if Toffoli did that to Pavelski? Hell the main board was losing their shit over Doughty's slash.

Just glad TT was none the worse for the wear, that could have ended badly at several points.

Very cheap indeed. I watched it several times immediately after it happened. Got behind on the game. I was like did i just see what I thought i just saw? Imagine if Clifford did all that Pavelski did. He’d be looking at 5 on the pine

Well, some people believe this team is one dumpster defenseman away from being a true contender and some see no issues.Others see the holes in the roster and get attacked for bringing it up lol.It is what it is every game.As long as it doesn't get personal I enjoy the debate and conversation either way.
