1-2 more years to get rid of Luc. 3-5 years rebuilding. Doughty coming off the books soon & cap going up. Hawks probably retain down to 7-7.5. What's the problem? It's going to stop the King's from being right there? Embrace the insanity!!!

Edit: & don't call me Shirley
You are out of your mind Laverne

Besides we already have his crazy-eyed brother

Kuemper @50% if he has any value.

Keep Moore and hope he recovers.
Resign Jeannot for something short and cheap

Oh boy... These would all be super underwhelming adds.

What is truly sobering…or moreso depressing?
Kyle Palmieri 14g 20a 34p but 34 yo 5M
Ryan Donato 15g 15a 30p
Scott Laughton 10g 15a 25p
Jake Evans 11g 16a 27p
Very similar to
Quentin Byfield 11g 14a 25p

So, 4 journeymen…are putting up Byfield numbers, with less ice time and some not getting PP or nearly 6.25M.

Honestly, I’d deal QB now.
He presses and is so erratic at times and just doesn’t have high hockey IQ. He can skate and has skill. No doubt. But he’s nowhere elite in any sense offensively and never will be.
He’s no replacement for Kopi.

I think he never surpasses 65 pts
He may not hit 50 this yr
You could get 2X his actual worth
No other King can. I say package him for
an upgrade.

Jake Evans. Ryan Donato. Scott Laughton,
Kyle Palmieri. Quentin Byfield. Equal offensive performers. Oh, Palmieri and Jake Evans besting him.

This is the worst possible take on the forum.

lol
I left out that Seider scored one of his goals

How do you assess his play this yr?
How often does he go 10+ without a goal?
His last big hit was a yr ago? When he plastered Hedman. 1 year, not a single monster hit?
He’s been pretty soft.
He’s not physical.
He’s not setting up line mates this yr, like he was w Kopi and Kempe.

His numbers are terrible. Where is he excelling?
You’re pleased where he is currently at, at D+5?

Yeah trading QB would be SUPER risky IMO.

For starters, he's probably the Kings best option to try to shut down McDavid come playoff time this year.

You're also probably not going to get a great return for him right now given he's been underwhelming so far as a 2OA pick and he has a $6.25m cap hit. Some teams would certainly be interested in the potential but they certainly won't pay a price that's comparable to his potential.

So you'd be selling low, you'd be losing center depth for the playoffs (even though Byfield's offensive production isn't great he's arguably the only player on the Kings who can remotely keep up with McDavid's skating and has matched up well against McDavid in the past), AND you'd be running the risk of trading a future franchise player.

And I know that last part is where I'll lose people - I realize people have doubts about Byfield's potential. And I get it. It's frustrating waiting all these years for a 2nd overall pick to show up. HOWEVER, there are plenty of players who don't break out in the NHL until they turn 23-25 and emerge as ELITE players.
  • Tage Thompson - broke out at 24 years old
  • Brandon Hagel - broke out at 24 years old
  • Nathon Mackinnon - showed flashes but really didn't become the world-beater he is today until he was ~23 years old
  • Jesper Bratt - broke out at 23 years old
  • Martin Necas - broke out at 24 years old and seems to be finding another gear at 26 years old
  • Kirill Marchenko - currently breaking out at 24 years old
And those examples just come after a quick look at the top 50 NHL points leaders across the league.

Yes, Byfield has been underwhelming and yes you'd absolutely expect more from a 2OA pick at this point. But I think we've seen enough flashes to know there's some serious potential there.

He's had some highlight reel goals and assists (in particular last year). He has a 20 goal season under his belt. His defensive game is actually surprisingly strong. And he still doesn't turn 23 until next summer.

Again, I get that it's been frustrating - But I really do still believe Byfield will be worth the wait.
