Toffoli might be slow, but he does have a sniper type shot. The rest of the players, they all mostly have something to them. Pearson is the most bland player I can think of. He doesn't hit, he doesn't skate great, he doesn't stickhandle, he's not a sniper, he's not a passer, doesn't have a heavy shot, doesn't fight. I guess he can stand in front of the goalie on a PP sometimes, but he's not even Holmstrom at doing it. There's no flair to it.

Toffoli is at least annoying. Why are you so damn slow? Pearson is...

The two most disappointing players for the Kings the last four years. They were so good in the 2014 playoffs, especially Pearson. Crazy to think how far they have fallen.

Also crazy to think that Jake Muzzin once made Team Canada in a best vs. best tournament.

I think he'd struggle to make a Team Canada C team right now.

When I saw that the Kings had a powerplay in the final minutes and failed to tie the game I knew this place would be in full meltdown mode. Did not disappoint.

Amadio pretty much got benched after his penalty. 7 whopping min tonight.
Stevens killed all the momentum this kid had coming out of training by putting him on the 4th line wing. Stevens was biggest question mark going into the season and is earning more strips. LA is always flat, still playing too much along the boards (like if it's the best place to receive a cross ice pass), & combinations have been a mess. I hope Blake is looking for a replacement cause Stevens is not a capable coach.

Don't know why Amadio gets treated like garbage by Stevens.

Well, at least we didn't pay the ticket...

And the Kings defense still doesn't manage a decent first pass out of our d-zone.
PPs were extremely poor and Stevens doesn't give the kids any ice time...
Also everyone ends on his offwing position and Muzzin-Martinez needs to be broken up.

Quick and Campbell should yell in the locker room. They were terrific in the games thus far.

Stevens has is issues, but he isn't the reason that the players weren't engaged, that lands squarely on the players.

Players do what they are told . Haven’t you seen they consistently do the same move on the pp over and over and over skate up drop pass back lmao . It’s terrible coaching that’s the problem not the players .

That was exciting and very entertaining. Looking forward to the next game. Hope to see the same great stuff. It's too bad a random puck bounce didn't go in the net multiple times for the Kings. Of course they might have a better chance at that if they shot more than they were shot at.

Yeah, Muzzin. He's just become quite awkward. Doesn't seem to react or think quickly. So many things look very deliberate. Everyone was good in 2014. After down 0-3.

Toffoli and Pearson were the hope for the future. They were supposed to be the next wave. Were for a bit. Now they're just guys that don't seem to have another level to get to.

In terms of everyone's favorite topic of ice time, they've been down 2-0 to SJ, Detroit controlled the game, and Winnipeg controlled the game, but the last 2 games have been close on the scoreboard. In those situations, very few coaches will not play their veterans. Not that the vets have done much. Had the Kings been in more of the games so far, or had a lead longer, and Kopitar was still up neat 24 minutes, then complain. The circumstances of the 3 games so far though, haven't lead to young guys getting time. Plus, we're not talking McDavid or Matthews. As much of a revelation as Wagner's speed has been, we're still talking about Austin Wagner. When Amadio does get out there, is he driving the play at an NHL level? Who are we talking about here?

Not to mention, whatever minutes Kopitar and the rest played tonight, they were mostly standing around watching Winnipeg have the puck. That wasn't bear down, gritty defensive hockey in the trenches out there. Those were 24 of the easier minutes Kopitar will ever play. Standing around for 40 minutes, and a few minutes in the 3rd with offensive pressure, which tends to be the easier time on the ice.

It was. They may have outplayed us in terms of metrics but as you said if we get a few bounces and it's a different game. We didn't get blownout by any means and Campbell had another fantastic game.

Now onto Montreal.

Let's Go Kings!!!

Yeah, because defensive zone play is known as easy on the body.
Thats too much Xbox for you, son.

Pearson and Toffoli are exposed without a top Jeff Carter.
Kempe hasn't scored in a long time, Lewis has played like trash since his injury. Clifford is what he is. The new guys don't get much ice time.
Doughty has been poor, Forbort I was never impressed with. Muzzin-Martinez never worked and it still doesn't.

And we lack identity.

Clifford, Muzzin, Phaneuf, Forbort, Toffoli, Pearson, young kids, list goes on and on. Depth is a serious issue. Or just get rid of freakin Stevens. His last coaching job was a disaster was it not. Gonna be a looooooooonger season.

That's one way to look at it i guess. But truthfully, the score wasn't indicative of the game. LA got straight dominated. Campbell did do very well though.

We can disagree, that's fine. In theory, I agree with you. I didn't see any grit filled trenches that the Kings were defending though. They were getting thrown around for most of the game, and skating around in circles, but it wasn't competitive hockey. Of course I know I'm saying that in the safety of my chair, and Kopitar is the one out there actually having to deal with the monster in Winnipeg, but he's also making however many millions of dollars. So it wasn't competitive. The Blues series in 2013 was hard hockey. Tonight was not that.

Maybe Stevens playing 5 guys in the first 2 games sapped the team of energy for the first road game of the season.

Regarding team speed and the plodding etc.

Has anyone considered that the Kings culture has changed from years ago when it was heavy emphasis on having a rigid offseason workout and training hard to outwork the opponent?

It’s been a concern of mine that we are headed right back to the pre-DL era where guys are just here to surf and enjoy the weather. I just can’t believe some players speed have just miraculously dropped off as if they are a year away from retirement.
