Is Stevens seriously using practice as an excuse ?.....

These are professional NHL players.

That had zero cohesion, zero timing, it was bad out there, I don't know if I would ever trot out, we dont practice enough, but there's something certainly wrong when players aren't engaged, the 3rd game into the season....Lewis, is lost, Pearson, is lost.

They are trying to carry it in, make quick passes in the neutral zone when there are 4 bodies mostly 5 there, that will not work, it will cause a bunch of turnovers, as we just saw, if there are five guys in that area, you absolutely have to dump it in, and when they do, they go change, it's comical.

I'm gonna go on limb here. D is not the Kings problem, it's generating offense. I would try to put a package deal together that includes Muzzin or Martinez, prospects and draft picks, and attempt to trade for Nylander! This team so badly needs another play maker with speed!

Doughty just isn't good at the point. He thinks he's Al MacInnis. Once in a blue moon he gets a booming shot into the net, but he's more that goal against the Devils in the Final, and the goal against the Rangers in the Final. Moving around, stickhandling. This stationary point shot stuff, no. He's probably not going to stop at this point, so I guess if you learn to expect it, you can't be disappointed by the things he does at the point. He seems to want to be a different player than what he is. He wants that big shot from the point that rips the net off the posts highlight, so whatever.

At least they had some energy in the 3rd. Now outshot 110-63 through 3 games. Not your grandpa's Kings.

Wasn't a competitive game, so there's no choking in a big moment complaints really. It shouldn't have been 2-1 when the Kings finally chose to do something anyway. Burn the video, get out of town, and hopefully they're prepared to play a game of hockey on Thursday. They're going to put the jersey on, so they might as well.

I really think that our biggest issue is the 2nd line and Carter's inability to return to his play that he performed at pre-injury. Our 2nd line is just so slow and has been invisible the first three games of the season and pretty much all of last year after Carter's return. Sad to say, but it looks like the decline in Carter's play isn't going to be turning around anytime soon. That under-rated speed and ability to drive the play just aren't a thing anymore.

Heres to hoping that Vilardi gets some magic hands placed on his back and he comes back and becomes the 2nd line Center that we so desperately need.

What 2nd line? Besides the first line, there was no cohesive unit, Was it Carter, Wagner, Lewis, or Carter, Toffoli, Thompson, or Carter, Pearson, Amadio, etc, that's part of the problem, you have to allow these guys to play together,

Yes, Brown is out, and you have to adjust, but if Kovy, Carter, Kempe were working, and Toffoli, Amadio, Pearosn were working, then you find someone else to play with Iafallo and Kopitar, Wagner, Clifford, Lewis, JAD, doesn't matter, you want 2 lines working over 1, and right now, they only have one that is working.

Some of us have been banging home the point that this is a one line team, and that’s whatever line Kopitar is on.

See how the years of poor player development and drafting is coming back to bite them in the ass? They set the team back a few years, and it’s going to take some time to recover.

Amadio and Wagner with less than 8 minutes time on ice each.

LaDue with 10 minutes.

The vets will be dead by game 30.

Stevens should have spent less time visiting each player at their homes and more time reworking the system. At the end of the day, you have a bunch of complacent players entering training camp that know Stevens would keep them in the lineup since they got chummy with the coach over the summer. Stevens is not a strategic coach, he's more of a be a "cool dad" to the team and hopefully they play up to their expectations. The reason that Sutter temporary worked was because he was not one for excuses so players would fight for each battle and play their best scared to disappoint him- I know Sutter had his own problems but at least the team was working hard.

I hope everyone who didn't want drastic overhauls are happy to watch 73, 70, 27, 6, 77, 13 and 22 play out their contracts, rather than moving them for younger players for the future. Their contributions to the Cup teams should have been acknowledged with a video tribute when they returned to LA, not with continued employment with the Kings.

Just way to many guys have been in LA for waaaaay to long, I think even more than coaching that is the biggest problem, this is just a stale team that isn't hungry. Almost everyone has their rings and are set for life.

I'm done with Stevens
I was done with him before he coached his 1st game with the Kings! Stevens had better offensive talent when he coached the Flyers. He doesn't have that here, plus he's terrible in bringing a long young players as a coach. The Kings have to realize that they need to shift from a defense first team/grind team to a team with more speed/free flow with quick passing.

That was a bad performance. I honestly don’t recall Stevens being a big problem last year but it seems really obvious this season.

Was it obvious last year?

Coach jon stevens must go!

I'd like to watch games again with there being some element of anticipation and enjoyment involved, even if it's a loss. Been mostly ffwding games the last 2 seasons. Highly unattractive product on the ice.
