literally not going to subject myself to this 3rd period

peace out boys

I don't know what Sutter coached games you watched. The problem with Sutter games wasn't being hemmed in our own end. It was doing nothing with the puck in their end. This is the opposite. It's Terry Murray 2.0 and what a shock, Stevens is the coach.

Sutter's basic scoring strategy was get the puck to the net and jam away.

How can a team with Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty be getting outshot 29/9?

They aren't shooting the puck, they are trying for the perfect shot, they had some decent entries, that resulted in nothing because instead of taking it to the net, they were waiting for an open net to shoot at, that's how.

They are literally just watching the play, and reacting, they have zero interest in playing and getting Winnipeg back on their heels, at this point, cross the red, cross corner dump, pound the Dman, and start trying to create some mistakes, but what they are doing now his pure nonsense.

I thought there was nothing to do in Winnipeg, the Kings are playing like they were out til 5 AM..

What an absolutely **** period. I don't see how this team is suddenly unable to break out of their own zone and generate any sort of offense.

Just about done with Lewis. Could've easily chipped it ahead to Kempe who was on a break, instead he peels back and waits for the non-existent trailer. Lots to complain about right now but that just really ticked me off.

We are at about 90 games of John Stevens hockey, it's pretty clear that it was a huge mistake not moving in a completely new direction with the coaching staff. Luc just refuses to let go of the 2012-2014 era, this is scaring me because my beloved Angels did the same thing, could never move on from their glory years and it's set the franchise back a decade.

The Kings are a black hole team again.

Not going to be bad enough to get a game changing pick but not good enough to contend. We have some nice veteran players, but this feels like the Palffy era Kings.

Literally said the exact same thing to my wife when the 2nd ended.

So much of this is on Lombardi post-2014, but a lot of it is on the core players, too. I've said it a thousand times now, but these core guys wanted Stevens. That says so much about their general mentality.

It's also why I never really worried about Doughty leaving. People acted like he had a fire under his ass for another Cup, and Toronto is so much closer to a Cup than LA. That second part is true, but not the first part.

No more please

I can't wait to read Steven's post game comments about how the system is good, but the players aren't executing it.

In this particular game, none of that matters. They're all basically playing like 14-15 Mike Richards. There's no battle in 18 of the 19 players that have touched the ice.

He didn't have the lane, he shouldn't have peeled back, he should have put a low shot on to the far side, force a rebound, but he certainly didn't have the lane.

He had someone beside him but with Lewis on the right side, he was skating towards the bottom half of the circle until he put himself into an even worse position by peeling off towards the boards and taking away the only option he had to direct a shot on net had he not done that, like you suggested.

Not to mention this was with seconds remaining on the clock as well. It further demonstrates why they’re getting badly outshot. Some of these players appear to lack any common sense.

Oh I don't disagree with you, I was just saying he didn't have the lane to actually drive the net.....he absolutely made an asinine decision to peel towards the boards, like I said, low hard shot to the far side, force a rebound, there was someone crashing the net.

Right now, they aren't interested in playing, they are not in the game, at all, and that's on both coaches and players.
