GDT: GM#29 LA Kings vs New Jersey Devils @7:30pm 12/6/18

Question : When Forbort made that save, that was cool. Quick was off to his right and would have gone in. Clearly, that was a shot on goal. Clearly, Forbort made the save.
So, does Quick get credited for the save? Don't really care and doesn't matter. But a shot on goal is either a goal or a save. Just seems weird Quick would get credited for a
save...maybe the ruling that saves can be a team thing? Of course, this is kind of rare. Some defensmen make saves near the goal, but many the goalie still may ahve made the
save as well...but that was clearly going to be a goal and Forbort clearly made the save.

It'll be scored as a blocked shot with no official shot on goal.

It may have been recorded as a blocked shot or shot attempt

I assume it's a blocked shot.

So if it’s not counted as a shot on goal or a save by Quick, what would have happened if the puck had bounced off Forbort and into the net? It HAS to count as a SOG now, so wouldn’t that now count against Quick as a shot that was not saved and therefore count against his save percentage? If so, funny how the 2 shot attempts in basically the same place might count as an official shot in one situation and not the other.

I get your thought process but with respect I think you're overthinking it. If it deflects off a player and goes in, it's clearly a SOG and a goal. If a player outright blocks it (like Forbort did), it's simply a shotblock, no matter what the trajectory.

All would get recorded as shot attempts (i.e. corsi), but 'on goal' means exactly that, either goalie or net.
