I could be wrong...it may not be THIS YEAR...but by the deadline, Feb 26 NEXT YEAR, technically.
How do I know this? GMs were calling Blake after the first 2 weeks, regarding Quicks availability and
he was not playing well. This is going to be a retool or rebuild and several will be gone by the deadline,
unless they are in the playoffs. How can the Kings make the playoffs, when they cannot score goals?
Another 0 goals by forwards tonight....a tip in by Martinez and Clifford had to skate into the net, to
score his goal.
Who gets traded? The BEST deal for your team, is the one where you have a replacement (Petersen) and
GM's are bidding against each other to get that player (Quick) Reality says you must get premium price and this
is the one deal where the Kings will win. If a GM makes an offer too good to refuse, you must make it.
Others? Carter? Martinez? Muzzin? Toffoli? Hagelin? Kovalchuk? Brown?
Quick will get a better return than any of those players. You can't have it both ways. You want the Kings to re-tool, rebuild?
It must be done. You must get the best return possible for the rebuild. everyone loves Jonathan. There are no
more Cups here for Jonathan...the only way Kopi and DD see another one, is immense luck in the draft (Hughes or Kakko)
and that the Vilardi's, Kupari's and Clagues
EXCEED their expectations...and get very lucky with an out of the blue
emergence of another, like Sodergran, Thomas or Scherbak. All of that is unlikely. It's going to take about
4 to 5 very good players to turn this thing around. Need to find some toughness and character too somehow.
This is currently the worst team in the NHL. Worst Offense, Worst PP, 29th Penalty Kill.
Can;t make plays, worst PP in last decade...no leadership, not much character, no toughness, not much fight.
There are SERIOUS PROBLEMS with this team and organization right now...and WD is a joke.
This aint going to turn around. if you were not happy about the return for Pearson, you're
probably not going to be happy with what they get for Carter, etc. He's 34 on January 1.
And playing very poorly. He may have 12 goals on Feb 26 and what team is going to give
more than a #2 pick for that? Or a prospect maybe not even as good as Scherbak?
Sure, I could be wrong. I just think that GMs will offer Blake a deal he must take, for future's sake.
Unless, Quick gets injured again, then no deals.
