GDT: GM#27 LA Kings vs Carolina Hurricanes @7:30pm 12/2/18

Kings 5-5 last 10

Canucks 1-8-1
Hawks 3-6-1
Blues 3-7

Kings probably have the best Goalies amongst this group, the tank is falling apart, and probably will end up 11th or 12th in the conference.

Still can't f***ing score goals worth a damn. Goals are kind of fun and exciting.

I see it now. Quick posts 20+ shutouts to drag us into the playoffs, only to be eliminated by _______ (insert Pacific Division rival) in a sweep where we score 3 goals total in 4 games.

ladue 4:32 ice time, amadio 6:58, rempal 6:05

doughty 27:25, kopitar 24:55, brown 22:06

WiLlIe D RoLlS FoUr LiNeS

kopi/doughty ice times are slightly inflated by the heavy special teams usage imo and ladue was effectively the 7D so no surprise there

fact is amadio isn't very effective so rempal suffers as a result

I don't expect this kind of shift chart to get any kind of offensive rhythm going
20182019-20412-shiftchart.png

If you want Amadio to do anything offensively, can't play his shifts 7 minutes apart, and with less offensive zone starts by percentage than any forward but Thompson. He's getting Nick Shore usage.

Edit: and before the "because he's just Nick Shore 2.0" garbage, keep in mind that Nick Shore enabled Kempe to get massive offensive usage last year, and he did shitall with it at the end of the season too. If you just want him to develop into a defensively buried center fine, keep playing him with Thompson and keep starting him outside the offensive zone. If you think he's capable of more, either send him down to the AHL to dominate offensively or give him offensive time and consistent playtime/usage. Particularly given we're down Lewis, Hagelin, Kovalchuk, and Kempe.

I wonder how many GMs are calling Blake about Quick's availability after that game. I don't think I cried when Gretzky was traded to St Louis...I was numb though. I may shed
a tear or two when Quick is dealt this year. What an amazing athlete, goaltender and human being.

If it's Martinez that TBL want, price ain't going down. Martinez is steadier than most NHL defensemen and would make any team better.

how do you know this?

how do you know this?

I could be wrong...it may not be THIS YEAR...but by the deadline, Feb 26 NEXT YEAR, technically.
How do I know this? GMs were calling Blake after the first 2 weeks, regarding Quicks availability and
he was not playing well. This is going to be a retool or rebuild and several will be gone by the deadline,
unless they are in the playoffs. How can the Kings make the playoffs, when they cannot score goals?
Another 0 goals by forwards tonight....a tip in by Martinez and Clifford had to skate into the net, to
score his goal.

Who gets traded? The BEST deal for your team, is the one where you have a replacement (Petersen) and
GM's are bidding against each other to get that player (Quick) Reality says you must get premium price and this
is the one deal where the Kings will win. If a GM makes an offer too good to refuse, you must make it.

Others? Carter? Martinez? Muzzin? Toffoli? Hagelin? Kovalchuk? Brown?

Quick will get a better return than any of those players. You can't have it both ways. You want the Kings to re-tool, rebuild?
It must be done. You must get the best return possible for the rebuild. everyone loves Jonathan. There are no
more Cups here for Jonathan...the only way Kopi and DD see another one, is immense luck in the draft (Hughes or Kakko)
and that the Vilardi's, Kupari's and Clagues EXCEED their expectations...and get very lucky with an out of the blue
emergence of another, like Sodergran, Thomas or Scherbak. All of that is unlikely. It's going to take about
4 to 5 very good players to turn this thing around. Need to find some toughness and character too somehow.

This is currently the worst team in the NHL. Worst Offense, Worst PP, 29th Penalty Kill.
Can;t make plays, worst PP in last decade...no leadership, not much character, no toughness, not much fight.
There are SERIOUS PROBLEMS with this team and organization right now...and WD is a joke.

This aint going to turn around. if you were not happy about the return for Pearson, you're
probably not going to be happy with what they get for Carter, etc. He's 34 on January 1.
And playing very poorly. He may have 12 goals on Feb 26 and what team is going to give
more than a #2 pick for that? Or a prospect maybe not even as good as Scherbak?

Sure, I could be wrong. I just think that GMs will offer Blake a deal he must take, for future's sake.
Unless, Quick gets injured again, then no deals.

This team reminds me of the great Kings teams that used to grind out games 1-0 and 2-1. If we scored 3 it was points in the bank.

Well, except for the part where we now usually give up 4 or 5 goals. That's a minor thing, though.

You may think this is the best thing for them, but it's not. Petersen has played 8 games and you just want to give him the job, while killing his confidence as he gets lit up night after night? They will stick to the plan over the next few seasons, Quick-Campbell, Quick-Petersen and the guy traded will be Campbell.

Quick going nowhere. He will retire as a King no matter how much you don't like it.

Have no cable yet since we're moving to a new home. Saw the highlights. Quick raising his stock. I like this. Pretty anti tank which is always disappointing but I'll take an increase in trade value as recompense.

I didn't know you were a psychic.

Anyways this is foolish hope to think there is no scenario where Quick would get traded. Blake wants to be a competitive team and get younger, not become a retirement home

Sorry but there is zero reason to keep quick around knowing this team wont be condenders within the next year or 2 or 3. If you're worried about the kid getting shelled then you let Campbell and budaj take the beat downs until this team is on the up and up.

Its poor asset management if they dont get something for quick before he gets hurt.

I wonder if the Rangers have thought the same thing about Hank since 2014?

Quick stole 2 points
Team is still where offense goes to die
Even the worst team in the league doesn't lose them all
The tank is still on track.

Agreed about Martinez celebrations, but that play looked like a set play to me. It's like they drew this up on a board, practiced it, then saw a chance to try it near the end of a game, and executed it like in practice. You don't get a chance to run set plays in hockey very often, so to see one executed like that is pretty neat.

Brown knew exactly what Muzzin was going to do as soon as Kopitar wins the face-off. Muzzin knew Martinez was driving the net and hit him with a great pass. Everyone knew what everyone else was going to do.

Lundqvist hasn't won a damn thing and his contract is prohibitive. Making a mistake just because another organization has made the same mistake is not an excuse.
