If it keeps going the way it is, Ilya Kovalchuk will probably ask for a trade in December/Jan. The kings would be wise to trade him, getting out from that foolish 35+ awful contract would be HUGE.

I hope Kovalchuk was serious about wanting to play for a contender and win a cup. The Kings can retain salary if it is required to make it happen. The question now would be is Kovalchuk more interested in living on the beach than winning? He might be a lot like our current GM in that regard.

It looked to me the Preds figured out Peterson, he has problems with high shoots

Or wide open shots and being able to pick the corners. Those were all world class shots that beat him, and would've beat anybody.

Kovalchuk says he wants to compete but I think he wants to compete for a cup in specific markets only (doubt he would waive to go to the Jets for example). And given he has a NMC that will be a hard fit.
