I hope Kovalchuk was serious about wanting to play for a contender and win a cup. The Kings can retain salary if it is required to make it happen. The question now would be is Kovalchuk more interested in living on the beach than winning? He might be a lot like our current GM in that regard.If it keeps going the way it is, Ilya Kovalchuk will probably ask for a trade in December/Jan. The kings would be wise to trade him, getting out from that foolish 35+ awful contract would be HUGE.
