GDT: GM #15 LA Kings vs Anaheim Ducks @7:00pm Freeway Faceoff Edition!

I know it didn't count but holy crap that was the most beautiful offside goal I've seen by this team. Hell of a pass by doughty.

I knew it was offside as soon as the went over the blue line - Martinez held on too long and Doughty wasn't stopping once he dumped it off.

But yeah, it was a sweet pass to Brown.

Maybe I am way off-base, but it didn't seem like MacDermid did anything to warrant a major and game misconduct, they just kind of ran into each other, no launching, the head didn't seem to be the principle point of contact.

Hayward is usually fine on national broadcasts as far as analysis goes but I’ve had to listen to his homer bullshit too much on Ducks telecasts to not hate the sound of his voice.

What was up with NBCSN pulling the plug after the game? No post game show because JR was up past his bedtime? Hell, I bet those 3 didn't even watch the 3rd and left after the it started..

Hit was a little bit late. Happens in a fast paced game. Penalty sure, but 5 was bullshit.

Other than the rule change that says that in the case of a head injury it's a major. But again, I know I'm outvoted here.

I don't think its a matter of a 2 or a 5. Fine. Whatever. It's that you keep referring to it as a predatory/premeditated/should-be-banished-for-all-eternity hit by the biggest piece of shit player to ever play the game nonsense. It was simply a hockey play.

I bet they wake up surprised the fakers won tomorrow.

I rewatched it and I don't like it either, I can easily see the five. It's one part MacD is too big, one part Kase isn't, one part bad speed/timing. Not intentional but if you're going to go for that sort of hit you have to be precise, and MacD could have pulled up a bit more and gotten Kase's front shoulder. Maybe same result, but at least it wouldn't have been right in the dome.

I bet he was also wondering why the f*** this guy was all the way back in the zone flatfooted doing nothing though too.

Are you a Beatles fan? This question is very relevant. Please humor me.

With Carter and Gaborik out, definitely have to give a hand to Iafallo on the top line. Finally someone who can compliment Kopitar.

Also to Kempe for filling in on that That 70's Line with all that speed. He's been super determined this season and the results show.

Just finished watching the game , was a good game all things considered.

Caught a lot of kings games this year and its amazing how much better and exciting you guys look this season, thought you guys might struggle a lil with the coach change and what not but you guys have been very impressive. Keep up the good work, hopefully we can claw ourselves back into playoff contention, and maybe have a round 2 :).

How long are carter and gaborik out for? glad to see brown havin a good season def seems to have reinvented himself.

As for the hit i didnt see it as dirty or intentful, just unfortunate would be shocked /shame if he gets extea punishment i thought what he got was more then enough punishment.

Was it just me, or was Quick not playing like Quick? He flung himself out of position on that first goal and at other times, too, where he was lucky enough to not get scored upon. And then, at the 3ish minute-mark of the 3rd period, he did some unnecessary dance on his knee pads after making the save. The dude had ants in his pants.....

Unpopular opinion, Hayward was mostly great tonight, and him and Faust did well together.

Just goes to show that it comes down to who is paying you on any particular day.

Penalized the result more than the act.

It's a fine line in a contact sport. You don't want viciousness, but you don't want to take out the danger.

How long are carter and gaborik out for?

Don't know on the first, and who knows on the second.

That is Quick playing like Quick sometimes. It's what makes him so good, if he can keep it under control. Doughty loses it emotionally, Quick loses it athletically. He can be too much of an athlete, not enough of a goalie.

Yeah, so far seems like Stevens managed to turn to ship around, players are excited again after couple of years of stale Sutter hockey and you can feel it when watching the team. Props to Stevens for correctly identifying the issues that caused this team underachieving and addressing them. And emergence of Kempe is icing on the cake.

I always appreciated the tenacity of Ducks, and it's admirable that they keep themselves in the mix despite having so many key injuries this season. Not much disdain left in me for Ducks tbh (not sure if that's a good thing though ;)), I even enjoyed watching Bieksa laying into Shaw throughly couple of weeks ago. A playoff series would definitely help to spice up the rivalry, especially when Kesler still keeps himself relevant, it wouldn't take much to build up some contempt again :D

I think Gaborik is expected to return by early to mid December at latest, with Carter there is no specific timetable, it may take couple of months or even more.

The first goal Quick conceded last night is very similar to the goal the conceded to Selanne(?) in gm 1 of 2014 series. He over-committed to the play and put himself out of the position.
